  2. for those looking for TCM/Acupuncture in the East Coast... I know of a really good guy. he's a high level Qi Gong practitioner so he knows what he's doing.. he's part of a secret lineage and diagnosis based on sensing your energy blockages. he told me he can do this because his 'medic eye' is opened. this is what he calls the 'traditional method of diagnosis' he confirmed his diagnosis by pulse/tongue for me just to show me that its true. he's very good.. http://www.gardenstatespine.com/garden/drs/scottbendell.php Blasto you're in LA though so I can't help you. I would suggest a Westerner since they seem to care less about making money than Chinese over here. do make sure you find one that does Qi Gong or else I feel it would be useless my doc told me I actually have excess Liver qi.. my problem is spleen deficiency. we're all different I guess.
  3. RE: The Buddha Bums

who cares about Einstein? he was a smart physicist, but he didn't know everything. he certainly didn't know how to end suffering and see reality the way it truly is.
  4. RE: The Buddha Bums

science has evidence for UFOs and aliens? modern science has yet to have evidence but they are open minded about other world systems existing that can support life because statistically speaking, its possible. Buddhism has always posited the existence of other world systems. I've heard really good things about Buddhism without Beliefs. I need to check it out.
  5. RE: The Buddha Bums

each quote (with [ brackets) has to be closed with /quote (with [ brackets) you have too many quotes that aren't closed you have an extra "quote" after " From what you say though I can only assume." and before "The Buddha is a representative of", get rid of that and that whole thing will show up as a quote. if you want to split it up then do "/quote" "write some stuff" and then begin again with "quote" if you open you must close
  6. RE: The Buddha Bums

why should I act respectful to someone who acts do cordially disrespectful? your 'good manners' are just a veneer for the contempt you hold for others by acting so judgmental. you've been here a week and already you've started a thread on kicking out the Buddhists, you labeled everyone Buddhist here a 'gang' and post criticisms at how people are acting when you missed the whole beginning of the discussions, months ago, which were multiple discussions actually, and when the tension built up and things got hot.. you jump in calling Buddhists disrespectful and act like the Virtue police trying to show everyone how disrespectful they are acting... WHEN YOU JUST JOINED AND HAVE NO CLUE WHATS GOING ON! well excuse me, I'm not here to act cordial. discussions get disrespectful, from BOTH sides, but thats how the Tao Bums is.. we are afterall humans.. and things change, PLUS that was a while ago. I've been here for 2 years, so I know what this forum is like. tensions cool off quickly. but yet you want to continue that tension and drama for whatever reason. I don't get it.. its as if you have nothing else to talk about. and then you insult the Dalai Lama, call him a dictator, and compare him to Hitler? and then expect me to treat you like my mother? No. though Buddhism says I should, i'm not a good Buddhist, until you change your attitude, and stop trying to change others, you will get no respect from me. I don't need your criticism. i'm done with this drama.
  7. RE: The Buddha Bums

what mistake? not elevating you to the status of guidance councilor you desire on this forum? what a bloated ego... coming to this forum with guns blazing wanting to change everybody.
  8. RE: The Buddha Bums

you are not contributing. you're only wasting time and space here by continuing drama and personal issues that do not exist. the 'valuable observations' you've made are only valuable due to your subjective view. i'm guessing you're a middle aged female with too much time on her hands, the need to fix things and get involved in emotion must be very wrong, but if you're interested in change.. you can get over that and have meaningful conversation. Vajra is a friend of mine off the forums, i'm not infatuated with him. we disagree often actually.. thats why I made that post but later edited it out after speaking with him and voicing my opinion about certain things. none of which are frankly your concern, Who you are is very important. you're acting like a moderator. chill, contribute in a different way.
  9. RE: The Buddha Bums

quoted for truth. you guys should watch soap operas if you're that bored I still have no clue who you are LOL have you noticed that your posts just get ignored? you come here and all of your posts have been criticisms of others. seriously why are you here? we're really doing fine here without you and these threads that keep popping up when the issue is long gone. last time I checked, which is 2 seconds ago, there are no Buddhist topics active at all. Vajra has participated in wonderful discussions that many have learned from. this has been going on for months now, you've been here for a week. the better question is.. what is your objective in coming here and why are you posting dramatic bullshit?
  10. What the Self Is (and Is Not)

watch out... the Enterprise is launching a shuttle craft!!
  11. What the Self Is (and Is Not)

hey man not starting a fight! i'm too tired anyway! just wanted to clear up this misconception with you and maybe some others here who might be interested in practicing Vajrayana. the people who say that TB is financially draining are probably those that have the wrong idea about TB (Tibetan Buddhism). they might think that its all about 'collecting' empowerments and going to every retreat, when actually TB is about forming a relationship with a teacher. really all you would need is a couple empowerments and you're set for life.. more or less. empowerments in Tantra just give you power to do a specific practice. transmission in Dzogchen is the transmission of the natural state, so one should get this as many tmes as possible.. but its free with Namkhai Norbu. anyway my point is that Tibetan Buddhism is not financially draining if you know what you're doing and not running around collecting empowerments. I think i'll add some randomness to this thread
  12. What the Self Is (and Is Not)

yea Nac, you have no clue. but it's cool. many have misconceptions about Vajrayana. we all have misconceptions actually! so its great to clear them up. especially about such a powerful tradition. I only pay 70$ a year to be a member of the Dzogchen Community because i'm a student with basically no income. Sure I paid money to buy some books and a DVD from their store... but why should that stuff be free? Namkhai Norbu's transmission was free, and so is access to his open retreats via webcast. but you don't need to shell out money for Vajrayana like most people think. al though I do regularly get emails about empowerments in the area, which are always somekind of weekend retreat, and theres always a suggest donation.. but as Vajra said nobody is turned away for not having money. this is completely different than what I experienced in the Hindu community when I wanted to receive Shaktipat initiation. I emailed around and one Guru wanted 500$ for a long distance shaktipat... others have weekend intensives where it costs lots. I did one and paid I think it was 300$, I don't think it was a waste. I really got a lot out of my time there. I supported the Guru and his students, the house that they run, and their whole establishment. I think its important to see that giving money is necessary in this day and age. how else can a spiritual organization survive without donations? Westerners are so stingy with donating that teachers need to charge money or else they won't get anything. and what good is a teacher if he/she is starving and has no place to live? btw I learned first hand that E Sangha really isn't the best place to learn about Vajrayana... or Buddhism in general. in my experience, its about getting a feel for it yourself. I'm the kind of person that likes to research things before I jump in.. and I thought I had a pretty good idea of Vajrayana before I did, but now I realized I had no clue.
  13. I'm sorry;

I don't think anyone who acts like that is genuinely interested in evolving or understanding truth, but I could be wrong. maybe findley's going through a dark night. or he's just one really angry person. Someone said that Findley's posts used to be very nice, so he wasn't always like this..... Findley did all of this anger come about after a spiritual experience, feelings of bliss, visions, etc? and then the bliss was gone and life started sucking? thats a dark night. you can get through it by meditating on the emptiness of emotions and just keep practicing.
  14. what is masturbation except chasing after pleasure and bliss through self indulgence? looking at porn.. well, that's just adding the biological instinct to mate into the mix, giving more 'fuel' and 'passion' to the act. mmm nice curby boobs (good for milk) and nice hips (birthing hips) and nice ass (again, birthing). i've thought a lot about this. just because masturbation is natural doesn't mean you should do it. we are all ignorant too, does that mean we should stay ignorant because its 'natural' ? what does natural mean? and is it necessarily the direction we want to go in if we are searching for truth?
  15. Burning Man happening Aug 31 to Sept 7

my friend invited me to go but I couldn't. he's still going though. it sounds really crazy, really fun. i don't know much about it though except that its people getting together and just acting creative by doing artistic and musical projects.
  16. colon cleansing

hey guys, thinking of trying a colon cleanse. I haven't had the best of diets and regularly get gas/bloating. during meditation I can feel cramps so this might be good for me. I got Yogani's book on Diet Shatkarmas and Amaroli. he says that Basti (enema) is really great to cleanse the colon. especially for those who are doing kundalini work. I also spoke to Robert Bruce about this, and he says colon cleansing is great to release blockages and let energy more loosely flow around the base center (root chakra). I found this, my mom does it, its a system that uses herbal formulas to cleanse the colon, and also has tonify the other organs. have you guys heard of it? what do you think? http://www.dualactioncleansenow.com/e-ingredients.aspx looking for any opinions/experiences on cleansing.
  17. Ginger and lime

i live right by edison. thanks for the tip! i tried sugar cane juice when in India and it was pretty good the Lime and Ginger are both transparently translucent, empty of self-nature, and dependently originated due to your past actions. anyone who can't see this is a FUCKING MORON.
  18. Clay Supplements

hey Michael. i'm just about finished with day 3 of the cleanse. using basically the same thing you were. except I started out with 2x a day and moving up to 3x. maybe next time i'll go higher. I can recommend to you Sonne's #7 which is a bentonite clay in hydrated form. It has no taste.. and neither does the Psyllium. so that makes for a really tasteless jelly like drink when mixed with water, the no taste of Sonne's might be good for you. the psyllium I wish had more... so I ordered "Fiber Harmony" by Organic India. its psyllium with a little bit of aloe vera, prune, marshmellow root and other things to help with digestion. It comes in Chocloate, Orange, a nd peach. I got Orange this is the cheapest place I could find it. http://www.vitacost.com/Organic-India-Fiber-Harmony-Orange Sonne's too. http://www.vitacost.com/Sonnes-Detoxification-7-Formula I paid almost double at my local health store :/ wish I knew about Vitacost sooner.
  19. Ginger and lime

was just thinking.. isnt it kinda difficult to squeeze juice out of raw ginger? from what I remember... ginger is really hard. maybe using a juicer? i've never used a sieve cloth
  20. i gotta learn them skillful means, i know i know. thank you. and glad you get something out of my rants once in a while.
  21. Ginger and lime

    mmm sounds good.. thanks
  22. Clay Supplements

I just finished day 2 of my fast. i' ve been drinking psyllium + bentonite (1Ttb each) twice a day. will do 3x a day tomorrow. drinking lots of hot water, teas, did juicing today too from green apples and carrots [ yum ] trying to decide whether or not I should continue taking the bentonite once I finish my fast. do you find it beneficial to keep taking it after the 'big dump'? I thought the big dump was the point?
  23. colon cleansing

thank you Kate love is very good for everything! insides included I remember I told Robert Bruce about my lipomas and he told me affirmations can really help as well as focusing on them with healing energy. I'm sure it does.. but I decided to use chinese herbs, and they are working. I don't doubt the power of the mind.. I guess I just doubt my own self-healing power. maybe the chinese herbs are just placebo and its my own belief in them working that is making the body heal. lol. i don't know. maybe both. i'm meditating regularly now and i'm just really tired of being tired! its a sluggish feeling inside of me. I feel it when I meditate on the dan tien. its like a murky feeling. I am doing all of this.. cleansing, chinese herbs, diet change, some yoga here and there, for the goal of better meditation. because thats important to me what do you mean by some body parts should not be approached with the goal of pacifying the mind? do you think sometimes the body should be just left alone? I do believe in the body's natural purifying and healing ability. my own situation though is that i'm basically unscrewing my body. I've screwed the body time and time again over the years with really bad diet, especially eating late at night. too many fried foods. when I was in China I ate way too many fried pork dumplings.. the street food there was the best! I had healthy alternatives of course but I just love unhealthy food, a habit i'm trying to break. so while I believe that the body can heal itself, I think its necessary to make steps toward making that happen. doing juice fasting for example. I'm being a little forceful right now with the Psyllium + Bentonite but i'm only doing it for a short time. just to give a little push, help get rid of some toxins. Diet is also really important it seems in opening up the body's ability to heal. eating light nutritious diet allows the body to have more energy for purification and healing. Fasting is an extreme but I think if done for 3-4 days once a month, can be very beneficial. I just finished day 2 and feel great! I can really understand now why Taoists stress diet and healing of the body.
