  1. Yeshe Lama Thogal teachings

I too don't see what the big deal is about mystical phenomena such as a body of light being some end-goal. I think the goal of all Buddhist paths is to gain insight into emptiness of phenomena and non-dual nature of mind. the view is all thats important. methods do not distinguish schools as better or higher or 'more realized', though each school thinks their realization is best. a very medieval trait. Rainbow body does seem like a very good tool for helping all beings, but being what it is... that doesn't make it a higher realization than the realizations gained by other Buddhist schools. using Namkhai Norbu's own definition of Total Realization: "definitive end of illusion, the end of suffering, the cessation of the vicious cycle of conditioned rebirths...all duality transcended" then all schools of Buddhism reach total realization because all schools aim for insight of emptiness.
  2. The Chicken or the Egg?

what? if "they" arose at the same time, and THEN grew into their current forms.. then they weren't chicken and egg when they arose. since chicken and egg are both forms. when they arose, they were then something completely different. you must believe in an eternal substance that is behind form for that to be true. something that is unchanging that was the egg before the egg became an egg.. and if you do believe in an eternal substance than there can be no such act as "when they arose" because the "they" is eternal and "when" means there was a beginning. unless you believe in a Creator or something to that effect. then i would simply ask who created the creator? you would say well the creator is infinite and all powerful and yada yada yada.. and i'd say well what if you took out that belief and just accepted that this very reality is infinite and there was no beginning? but if you take away the Creator then you're still left with this whole eternal substance idea.. I think this sort of belief should be questioned, since how can you know that an eternal substance really exists without examining? but you are free to believe what you want. and who laid that egg? God? lol maybe God is just a giant chicken who laid the first egg?
  3. KAP class

given the used car salesmen nature of the advertising used on the KAP site, I feel that the questions asked are pretty appropriate. the system claims to awaken kundalini in anybody in 90 days. does it work as advertised or not? thats a fair question.
  4. Corruption in Religious Hierarchy

we in the West don't like hierarchies (not like our government is any different) because we learn time and time again in history that people become corrupt and we just generally fear people having power over us. we have trust issues, and these are warranted. i think Westerners have a pretty good understanding of human nature. people are assholes, although there are exceptions. and perfection simply does not exist. here in samsara, everyone has their karma. no religious tradition is exempt from this, not even Tibetan Buddhism. the whole Guru thing only works for some people in the West, and the majority of those people have emotional issues like fatherhood issues are lack of self-confidence that draws them to give away their power to an external figure. most people don't really understand the conceptual basis and methodology of Guru Yoga, the symbology of it, and how this relationship transcends duality. in ancient countries where this relationship is more of a custom, people do it simply because its the way it should be. so either way theres really no conceptual understanding of why a the hierarchical relationship is beneficial and productive. I'm grossly over-generalizing here btw. but the point i'm making is that in the West there has to be more intellectual understanding of the relationship, and the necessities of it, and the system that worked in ancient Tibet and India will not work in the US because we have much more of a sense of individuality. another form will work that is more gradual, less invasive, more "spiritual friend-esque", more personal, etc. I think this is the realization that Tibetan teachers are coming to, slowly.

  6. Yeshe Lama Thogal teachings

if he learned how to relate his insights better to people he would be a truly great bodhisattva.
  7. Measuring Meditation

I want to someday. atm healing my bodies energetic imbalances through herbal formulas. need to get that in check before I can do 10hrs a day of meditation. you live closeby in NYC, is there a retreat there?
  8. the result is that the dualistic mind turns off and is seen to be illusory. (not real, illusion) dualistic means I am here looking at objects over there, the separation between subject and object. The nature of multiplicity is nondual and things in themselves are pure and simple; being here and now is thought-free and it shines out in all forms, always all good; it is already perfect, so the striving sickness is avoided and spontaneity is constantly present. you're still very attached to thoughts. don't forget feelings are thoughts as well. boredom is the dualistic mind's need for entertainment, for movement. the mind thrives on movement. you must let go of that attachment and embrace non-movement. when there are no-thoughts, there is still presence isn't there? this presence isn't a self or "me" so don't attach to it, just relax into that presence and don't latch onto any thoughts or feelings that come up. here's a question for you, if you need others to tell you what the goal is.. why are you meditating in the first place? not trying to insult you or anything, but just be honest here..... why are you doing this? if you don't understand why you're meditating, then you have no real motivation and its very easy to get bored. the false self yearns for concepts to latch onto. expectations, fantasies.. just more extensions of thoughts based on an illusory self that doesn't truly exist. following the thought train of 'where will this lead?" only feeds the fire of illusion and suffering. if you want to keep feeding that fire then keeping following those thoughts and making posts like this, if you want to finally put the fire out then extinguish them as soon as they come up, see the thoughts for what they are: empty. watch the thoughts vanish into the void they rose out of, and understand the impermanent nature of thoughts/feelings. i'm not completely stressing non-conceptuality here. i think philosophy is very important, as long as the philosophy gives you a good solid base for interpreting your experiences and doesn't lead you to have assumptions and expectations. that's why I personally like Buddhist philosophy.

  12. The Chicken or the Egg?

did the cause come first? or the effect? the effect is dependent on the cause, and the cause is dependent on the effect. there can be no "First Cause" or "First Egg" since that first cause itself needs a cause. so, the answer is neither the chicken nor the egg. infinite regression.
  13. read this: http://www.uswushuacademy.com/articles/Fiv...ll%20Levels.htm The Five Levels of Training in Taijiquan By Christopher Pei Taiji is very complex, learning the physical form is just the first step. having Taiji as your one and only practice isn't a good idea in my opinion. Meditation is also important because meditation goes beyond energy and works at the level of mind to probe deep, going beyond energy, body, and dualistic mind to experience the true nature of mind. Qigong and Taiji are wonderful for building support for sitting meditation; balancing the energies of the body to create the conditions for deep realizations to occur.
  14. Q-Link -ahead of its time or scam

I got the pendant. i had it for little over 30 days and having no noticeable effects so I returned it. Robert Bruce says it works, maybe i'm just not very sensitive to energy.. or maybe I just don't need it.. or maybe i'm so beyond damaged that it could do nothing for me Dunno. but if you decide to try it, make sure theres a money back guarantee, no harm in trying it. just be objective oh btw i was talking about the Q-Link.... the cheap little pendant from Israel had no effects on me either.
  15. Yeshe Lama Thogal teachings

Dunno. Namkhai Norbu speaks pretty openly about things like that.. and he writes about kundalini as "thigle", in the book Crystal and the Way of Light he briefly mentions it. maybe you just needed a better teacher eh? I don't think all Lamas are perfect since perfection is only subjective. for some... that Rinpoche was the best teacher they could have at the moment, for others their karma is different. my karma is strange as I'm drawn to Namkhai Norbu's open and radical approach but I really want a physical teacher. there is a Kagyu Lama living closeby and he is a Dzogchen/Mahamudra master but I get the feeling he's very traditional (as Kagyus typically are) and i'll have to do lots of prostrations and preliminaries before getting to the goody stuff. I'm no monk, and coming to terms with that, I might have to let go of my need for a constant physical presence. not sure if the traditional Tibetan approach is right for me, i'm drawn to Namkhai Norbu. taking transmission from him on the 31st (worldwide broadcast). I have the karma at the moment to discern and choose a teacher that befits my mindset. not many have that going for them. I do believe though, that we end up with the teachers that are most right for us. we are drawn to those that are there to fuel something, diminish something, or teach us about something. Did you really not benefit at all from that particular Rinpoche?

  18. Depressed.

so then one should be complete celibate to practice internal alchemy and therefore not have a partner? its quite impossible to have a girlfriend and at the same time not have sexual thoughts. no girlfriend will stay with you unless you fulfill that need for her to get boned.

  23. Beginning Questions About Being A Vegetarian

i think it would be much easier if you slowly changed your diet, instead of just one day choosing to not eat meat. if you slowly start adding more vegetables into your diet and less meat, it will be much better for your body, less of a shock, and easier for your mind to get used to.
