not true. nothing that was posited about Vedanta has been disproven. you objectivity a non-phenomenal self-existing reality, and that according to Buddha is grasping at an essence that doesn't exist. you can talk all day about non-conceptual this and non-conceptual that, but what it comes down to is that your definition of Brahman is not non-conceptual because you say that it exists and is non-phenominal, that is already a concept. and yes, Buddhists, atleast good Buddhists, should study other paths. there was a comparative philosophy forum at E-Sangha, it was awesome. but then it got closed. it's you that should study Buddhism since you keep equating Emptiness with Brahman over and over again.

first, I never said Shaktipat was useless... and I don't need your advice. but of course, you will quote me out of context again and again, even after I've explained myself thoroughly. second, i'm not playing a numbers game. you presumed that I just googled and I said no I actually lived close by, and now you have to respond with Oh well I lived there longer. AND THEN CALL ME A SILLY CHILD! haaaa!! your posts just reek of pride, you always have to 'one-up' everyone, you just can't back down. my shamata sucks... what about your ego? definition of one-upper: one who feels like they need to be better than everyone else, so they constantly "one-up" anything that anyone says. someone who needs to make themselves feel better by making themselves seem greater than everyone else someone who thinks they know everything, everyone, and has done everything you do, but better http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=one+upper stop veiling your need to argue and bolster your ego by pretending that you're on a crusade to unmask the truth and expose people, or whatever, this has never been about anyone else but you. expose yourself. here's an observation: you veil your arrogance and conceit pretending to help people. I do not need your help. Nobody needs your help. you should help yourself. don't bother responding, this is my last post to you. but of course you'll have to respond because you can't let anyone have the last say, you HAVE TO WIN! so sad. you know you have to respond now, even though nobody cares. you have to "defend" yourself, you have to keep attacking me and keep making sarcastic comments that make yourself fell good and proud. you know you have to. c'mon karma keep churnin'!

well, Silicon... and your conduct? and your talking? and your crap load? and your smug arrogance? you get what YOU deserve. Silicon's post process, step by step 1 - personal attack 2- sarcastic remark 3- quote something from the past, take it out of context, blow it out of proportion to attack the person 4- say something that sounds smart 5- accuse the person of something that he himself is doing ie. you are illogical, you are attacking me, etc 6- make a really long post saying the same things over and over again and wasting his and other peoples time 7 - end with another sarcastic remark you're very predictable Silicon. I didn't need to google anything. I lived in Bangalore for 5 months, which is very close to Bylakuppe, and that is how my Indian teachers called it. nice try to personally attack me, yet again. OHH so you acted like a pompous jackass because i was receiving transmission from a non Vajracharya and you were trying to correct me!! thank you! that was really obvious. your sarcasm is so clever, congratulations!

This show is SO good. I have nothing to do atm and thought i'd give it a try, and now i'm almost done with season 1. story lines are so interesting, and the endless plot twists and turns are so great! any other fans here?
-
new experience? you're pretty good at it, I doubt this is your first time mud slinging. and you're the one that started it all oh and I think you meant Bylakuppe, you'd think after 8 months you'd be able to spell the name. hows mud feel? well, that's what you do alllllll day. I'm sure you created some solid merits by studying there, I hope you don't waste all of it by being a douchebag.

and you seem really judgemental and jump to conclusion quickly, dude. I didn't criticize Santiago's achievements, he is highly realized, but he never claims to be enlightened. I just had a discussion with him about him about why the Tibetans stress the importance of view and preliminaries in tantric practice. I've received transmission from him before and I will again. I currently, still, have a teacher that sends me energy transmissions who isn't Buddhist or Hindu. I obviously don't consider other paths useless, they just don't lead to complete liberation if the view isn't there. this is alllllll you do brother, you character attack allllll day. you be-little people and I'm going to say you have no real friends. I wish you luck in becoming a more genuine person.

LOL did you call the police on me for generalizing Advaitans as Hindus? well let's see. Advaita is the culmination of the Vedas, the Vedas are the holy texts for Hindus. so what difference does it make saying Advaitans don't get it, or Hindus don't get it? either way, they don't get it!

I don't shit anywhere. you're merely projecting your own shitting onto me. never did such a thing. you're fantasizing. I think he did an excellent job, and he only reiterated what i was saying before he came. I never changed my position that Hinduism is eternalist and according to Buddhism does not lead to liberation. I invited him to come because he speaks from experience, and has deep experiential insights from meditation. being a former practitioner of Advaita, I felt he would make a good addition to the discussion. I didn't expect you guys to get so defensive and go crazy. all you've really done here Silicon is attack people and act like a sarcastic prick. you've made zero contribution to this discussion and I really think its best for everyone if you stop posting.

no one, especially me, is going to read a 10 page quote when its not even clear what your point is.

Hindu dieties were already mentioned, I didn't bring them in. I merely mentioned that I took a class in India that confirmed what Vajra is saying about Hindu gods fighting and acting like children. kind of like how you act, buddy. maybe you need better role models look how defensive you get about Hindu gods, as if its part of your identity, as if its part of who you are. But it isn't. you're the one creating this "us vs them" mentality here, there never was an us. you and dwai created it by being overly defensive and not able to have a simple debate. it's pointless to continue this it seems.

what the fuck is wrong with you Silicon? have you not gotten laid today? I unblocked you because I felt bad, maybe I overreacted, but holy shit man. I see you shitting all over the place. YOU WIN! OK? is that what you want? I know your kind. I've seen your kind since I was a kid. angry, possessive, insecure, feels the need to assert himself and always has to be right. when authority is questioned, its HULK TIME! your ego is hanging out of your pocket, go pick it up and pretend like you're actually on a spiritual path of some sort.

when I was in India I took a class on Hindu Mythology. It was so ridiculous reading all the stories about Gods fighting, and really made me appreciate the Buddhist teachings on the realm of the Gods who are full of pride. I wondered how can people read these stories and worship these beings who seem as selfish as humans? ::shrug:: that was a long time ago, but really,,, Hindu myth is full of gods fighting and competing and yet no Buddhist would agree with you, and neither would Sankara. so you have a better knowledge of Buddhism than Dalai Lama and all other Buddhists, and even Sankara who wasn't a Buddhist but argued against Buddhists. congratulations, that is quite an accomplishment. lol Vajra is far from new-agey, he's actually pretty orthodox when it comes to religion. it is the new agers who try to lump all religions into one and say they point to the Same Higher Truth, not the orthodox who understand the differences in religions, their views, and their realizations. i used to be pretty damn new-agey.. and i'm still a lot more new agey than Vajra. New Agey isn't really an insult anyway, I think its beautiful and wonderful that such a movement is arising in the West where people are questioning and earning for spiritual experience. thank you for posting this Mat btw, whoever is comparing orthodox Buddhism to fundamentalist Islam is an idiot. running out of insults aren't you? not one blood has been shed in the history of Buddhism, its a peaceful religion. it's not about worshiping our God and doing our rituals or else you go to hell. No. it's about recognizing that grasping for an ultimate state or essence leads to suffering not liberation. that is all. that is the Buddhist view and Buddhists will never budge on this. it makes complete logical sense if you study why grasping leads to suffering and how every other religion have some sort of subtle, or not so subtle, grasping in their ultimate realization or truth.

http://trueslant.com/jeffkoyen/2009/06/23/...s-last-moments/ LOL!! duped my ass, they knew what they were doing

blah blah blah blah for someone very steeped in eternalist views, hearing the Buddha's philosophy wont' work since they will only understand that philosophy through eternalist lenses. hearing others experiential insights won't work either because there will always be doubt. really, it must be accepted that not everyone can play guitar. so let's all just simmer down..

well thankfully we have you around. what would we do without you? who has pride again?

the Live Chat feature here allows you to color code your text as well as sending private messages. you can also click the button to release the live chat window so its a separate window, I really don't think it's that bad.
-
i think Live Chat works pretty well, but I think it would work better if it went straight into an IRC channel instead of running on Java. maybe someone with programming experience can talk to Sean about this not many here would be willing to download a chat program to connect, its so much easier just to click the link.

this is awesome. such a great analogy. Buddha truly was an amazing teacher -- You might think that because samsara is like a dream, perhaps enlightenment is solid and permanent. But Shakyamuni Buddha said that nirvana itself is like a dream -- an illusion. There is nothing that can be named which is nirvana; nothing called nirvana which is tangible. Shakyamuni Buddha said this directly: "Form is emptiness". For instance, the moon is reflected in water, but there is no moon in the water; there never has been! There is no form there that can be grasped! It is empty! Then Shakyamuni Buddha went on to say: "Emptiness itself is form". Emptiness itself has appeared in the manner of form. You cannot find emptiness apart from form. You cannot separate the two. You cannot grasp them as separate entities. The moon is reflected in the water, but the water is not the moon. The moon is not the water, yet you cannot separate water and moon. Once you have understood this at the level of experience, there is no samsara. In the realm of realization there is no samsara or nirvana! When speaking of the teaching of Dzogchen, samsara and nirvana are just another dualistic concept. But when looking at this moon in the water, you may say: "But it is there, I can see it!" But when you reach for it and try to touch it -- it's not there! It is the same with the thoughts that arise in Mind. So if you ask: "How has this actually come about?" you need to consider that everything comes from interdependent origination. So what is this interdependent origination? It is simply that the moon and water do not exist separately. The clear water is the primary cause, and the moon is the secondary or contributory cause. When these two causes meet, then this interdependent origination manifests. It is the coincidental appearance of the primary cause and the contributory cause. http://www.abuddhistlibrary.com/Buddhism/A...c%20Ngondro.htm oh man, that quote from Dalai lama was great..

http://edition.cnn.com/video/#/video/world...anmen.anniv.cnn China are at it again. I just got back from living there for 4 months, it's really nice to be able to access all the websites again on Tibetan Buddhism.. and use Youtube again. and then my friend sends me this. my god, that is ridiculous. officers with umbrellas blocking cameras in Tianamen square, blocking even more websites. when will this end? being back in the States, I really miss the street food in China, having youtube back doesn't make up for it unfortunately. thats how they get you. they have amazing food and make you not care so much about other things, like freedom
