I disagree wholeheartedly and feel you have studied in the wrong places. there is a clear difference between kundalini arousal and a full kundalini awakening, also kundalini may have to be risen several times for kundalini energy flow to be in a permanent state. i studied this 'alchemical process' you speak of, frankly i find it childish. it is neo-taoist and not taoist in the least. nurting your spiritual embryo, cmon. how is that taoist? sounds to me like an egoist way to 'survive' after death. all you'll do with that spirit body is float around in the astral. Lao Tzu never spoke of immortality. why yearn to become immortal if you already are immortal?

son? lol i thought you were around 15 oops.

watch out now mantis, you're going to put on Cam's ignore again.

my only experience is with mescaline (cactus) and i can say from experience that there is definetely an effect. when i took mescaline, both times there was definetely an increase in energy and bodily awareness. it was actually the first time i've ever felt chi, even after the trip ended i had an upsurge of energy that lasted for days. now i can feel the energy sober, but i'm wondering if anyone has any experiences with psychedelics and their effect on energy? i'm especially curious about any detrimental effects because i'm thinking of partaking in a cactus journey again and wonder how it will effect my energy body now that i'm progressively building it.

I just had a really interesting night... i was in the cafe getting some coffee and i see someone from my islamic philosophy class, he always smiles at me and is a nice guy but we never spoke before. we started speaking and instantly i could tell that he was very open minded and that we would have a good discussion. turns out his family is from soviet union, i forgot specifically where some sort of 'stan, but he himeself was born in jordan and came here when he was 5. so we had that in common since i came from the soviet union as well. we talked about mysticism and religion and went off onto really deep tangents it was great. we sat down and started talking. he agreed with me completely when i told him how ridiculous i find the fact that judaism, christianity, and islam all believe in the same god yet are squabbling and fighting over who's prophet was first or last. pretty ridiculous. he seems to hold a very high respect for all religions and when i told him i'm jewish he was very astounded that i'm studying eastern religion because he feels judaism has everything i need. he called it a mountain of truth. i asked him about the koran and about the specific war passages and he spoke about the context of the koran when it was written, there was a lot of tribal warfare back then and that it was made to be less of a mystical religion but more of a sociological and personal dictum for survival. but there are very beautiful mystical passages in the koran and thats what draws him to study it and feel a connection to it. he believes the war passages were justified then and even now they serve a purpose. he talked about 'martial law' and the protection of your family. that is where it all comes from. we talked about fanaticism and bin ladin and his skewing of the koran, but it can also be viewed similiarly when looked at bush and his skewing of the constitution. who is right and who is wrong? it's all about perspective and this idea was really established because of what happened next. we were sitting and talking about war and he was very emotional about the topic because of all the women and children who have died in iraq and the lack of remorse on our part towards the 655,000+ that have died, a guy walks over and joins our discussion, hes a lieutenant commander in the US Army and the two got into a pretty heated discussion. both of course coming from completely opposite perspectives on the matter. this went on for 20 minutes as i sat idly watching and listening objectively. they were both very emotionally invested in their respective positions, the soldier coming from the army's perspective that civilian deaths do occur and that the soldiers are not responsible while my friend was talking about the lack of honor in the soldiers killing innocent people, families, women and children. my friend talked about blindly following orders and the soldier said that since vietnam a lot has changed in the army and that you are now allowed to question your orders if they are questionable. here were two young college kids both raised in america who are arguing over which side was justified. my friend was very emotionally charged and his hand was literally shaking because he just could not understand all the deaths and violence and lack of compassion. he was putting all the blame from all the bad news he's heard on this one soldier, and i knew i had to step in. so i told them both to calm down, and told them how i'm not muslim, nor am i in the army so i have a pretty objective take. they were both squabbling over little details and i told them to take a step back and look at it more of a big picture. our response was wrong, the soldier even admitted himself that its hard not to kill civilians since its not an open battlefield, so i told him it should have been a police matter, not a military matter. how do you fight a war with soldiers against a differing ideology? an ideology that is further augmented by you killing? the soldier admitted this, and the fact that we were lied to about WMDs and everything, but his reasoning for going back (he's on break but going back to Iraq soon) is that we made a mistake and it's our responsibility to go there and fix what we did. this seemed to appease my friend a bit and he calmed down. the two ended up having a good conversation after that and shaking hands. it seems that once you get people out of their passionate 'tribal' mentality of good guys bad guys, they can recognize that the only enemy is ignorance. not each other. most muslims in the middle east have such a terrible opinion about us but can you really blame them? all they've seen is war, bloodshed, death, soldiers, attacks against their religion which they hold very dear. so they have this opinion about us based on this limited scope, while we have a bad opinion based on our limited view of them. most people only look at the koran for the 100 verses that talk about war when there are 6346 total verses in the koran, likewise we think all muslims are fanatical suicidebombers who threaten our "freedom" just like they think all americans hate them, their religion and want to take over the middle east. is there a difference? both viewpoints stem from fear and ignorance. mainly what i learned from tonight is that the enemy is not each other, but ignorance. and that its not a war on terror because terror is subjective but rather a war of ideologies and the best battle we can pursue is a battle of words and knowledge not killing more people which will only result in more suicide bombers and death and retaliation. we in the west have luckily had the intellectual freedom to get over questionable passages both in the Bible and in the Torah (old testament) A passage on war Numbers 31:17 "Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him". A passage talking about the taking of slaves: Leviticus 25:44 "Both thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids". you can find more here http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.com/index.htm it includes both New and Old testament the point though, is that every religion has questionable passages in their holy text depicting a violent side, but this was necessary at the time for sociological progress. in the West with our intellectual freedom we had the opportunity to overcome these passages, for the most part, and most don't even know they exist and see only the the good aspects. in the Middle East that isn't possible since all they see is war and still rely on the violent passages to guide them and give them allowance to fight back. Do not blame the Qu'ran, do not blame Islam, do not blame Muhammad and certainly do not blame the people. Blame the ignorance and tribal mentality that we have developed, the lack of compassion, and blindly following a leader who has caused over half a million HUMAN deaths on the whim of "false intelligence" it's time that we start questioning our morals and beliefs. if you hate muslims just because they are muslim and want them dead and have no compassion, are you any better than the muslim fundementalists?

you can send mantra a private message, unless you wanted this to be a public discussion. i feel i may provide you with some answers, although not on the level of mantra though. there is much stressing of the concept of 'letting go' in kunlun. you resisting is not letting go. whatever happens happens, just let go and don't think, merely observe and feel the connection to the energy. that's all i can add

i don't think it's that simple. a coke can can just look in the mirror and see that it's a coke can. when i look in the mirror i see my physical body, my features. i guess its a change of perception in that you see yourself, and the world differently. but if it was as simple as you claim everyone would be enlightened (realized) already. why go through all this if its so simple? WYG, chill. mantra answered your question about bliss in this thread, read and stop trolling. why would a video prove about anything? who cares if they are moving around or not? thats not the point of the practice, its a side effect. and i've never had any of those effects. i believe those effects to be blockages clearing out and maybe my practicing of yoga has opened my channels enough so that i don't need those movements, but regardless it serves no purpose to think about such matters. the point i'm trying to make is where does the practice lead to besides feeling good. it seems as if the discussion is going in a positive route and i appreciate you all participating, and Mantra's thoughts. i believe i am understanding, somewhat. but the main thought i have is that its a 'do it and find out' practice, but that leaves a lot of room for error.. now i'm not saying people should be babysat but a general guideline should be set forth. if you call it the 'end all' to all paths but then lack teachings in moral cultivation, and proper direction on what to aspire to. merely saying 'become one with the tao' isn't enough since people can get easily lost in phenomena, supernatural abilities, astral traveling and never fully shed the ego

Notes from my search for immortality
Sunya replied to Chi kung apprentice's topic in General Discussion
of course not, but it comes from being an ignorant jackass on an online forum? how do you know that's all he does? -
taoism is not tibetan buddhism. there is quite a difference i'm sure. i think in taoism after death it's like a drop falling back into the ocean

sheepishlord and sean, i completely agree. i live by the quote by William Blake The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom. i'm almost 22, but have already had lots of sex and jerked off so much to porn that i'm tired of all of it. in the past i'd get to the point where i'd jerk off atleast 3 times a day to porn and now i can watch porn without getting excited. so far i'm on day 11 but its really not that hard. i've never had nocturnal emissions either. even though Cam has me on ignore, i feel you guys are absolutely correct in your assessment and advice. although i disagree with you, Sheepish, about one thing. i don't know Cam that well, but about goals i feel that attaining god-realization is the highest goal one can have.
-
not saying it isn't a good practice for energy cultivation though, so i'm going to continue practicing it.
-
what? i didn't disrespect Max at all, i just pointed out that he has retention technique in his book. /sigh Cam is going to be all alone in this forum the way things are going
-
nope, not wrong. read your bible 'pillars of bliss' and you'll see max himself giving a retention technique i wouldn't suggest it though. judging by your control over not posting, you wouldn't last.
-
you can have sex, just don't release
-
hahah no you gave me some tidbits to think about. i agree with you, i just don't understand why kunlun is being marketed so that bliss is the endresult, not the byproduct. i just feel this plays to the ego and attracts the wrong kind of seekers

i'm interested in kundalini awakenings. i was watching this video it is a Swami talking about shaktipat and she was saying what happens after you receive the kundalini initiation "in some after they receive shaktipat it (kundalini) will instantly awaken for others it may take a months or a couple months to fully activate. eventually it does activate. then mantras are used and techniques are given which aid one to move along very rapidly so they don't get caught up in phenomena and go straight to consciousness. and they're not doing these meditations that take them astral traveling and different planes and seeing all the rest of this phenomena because it isn't needed. we want to get people through consciousness to realization as fast as possible" towards the end "you have to have a guru for this path or else you can get really far off into too much phenomena and really get caught in mind stuff and go down a very bad road. with a guru its a really quick way to realization" i've had similiar ideas, whats the use (besides curiousity, which i have) in astral traveling when it is all manifestations of the divine which in essence is you.

i wish you luck in your endeavours. you're a beast, remember that.

yo camz, maybe during the 100 days its best to disassociate yourself with the forum since you're very sensitive to it. this will allow you to focus on other things. i hear gardening is good i'm being serious, you will keep experiencing this because this is a forum. you'll eventually have everyone on ignore and i'm just saying before that happens maybe you should find a more peaceful hobby that moreso benefits your current situation and mindset have you ever read any Kerouac? check out the book Dharma Bums
-
cam, you're being hostile to everyone these days. maybe celibacy isn't that good of an idea. and i won't be visiting you in arizona because i may say something to offend you and you'll /ignore me by locking me in your basement. what's your deal man? chill!

clips of him in the last debate http://youtube.com/watch?v=WlXqs-shK5k http://youtube.com/watch?v=iXCBDZZ9SZU&feature=related an article on him http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington...npaulconsp.html yah, i doubt he will win. politics in this country are pretty corrupt at the moment with the mass media and the global elite. it's all about $, whoever controls the media controls the people. very sad. but the internet is changing everything, and if that remains free then the 2012 election will be VERY interesting. i think that there will be some laws passed before then though, i doubt the elite will allow their control to be taken away.

i've really yet to see a good explanation of kundalini from the taoist perspective. this is actually what draws me more to hindu/tantra because kundalini is a very real phenomena and many get it spontaneously

was debating with my friend about energy. his claim was that yoga was beneficial but only because of the increase in blood flow and that the term energy shouldn't be attached to it at all, i found an interesting article that talks about this energy http://www.icmart.org/icmart99/ab24.htm i found this part interesting
