  1. A third eye technique, anyone tried this?

Maybe opening the third eye just gives you more opportunity to humiliate yourself....in the beginning stages anyway. PS: Didn't mean to rain on anyone's parade. No offense meant.
  2. Leading Qi to the teeth

A good supplement to take is a new kind of vitamin K called MK7. Vitamin K helps keeps the calcium in your teeth and bones, and will also remove calcium deposits from the arteries and put it back where it's supposed to be. I doubt it could _fix_ cavities though.
  3. Opening up the leg meridians.

It's very interesting to see how people mix techniques.
  4. Ch'an/Zen and the Tao

While hanging out on Buddhist forums, and reading Buddhist books, I never saw emptiness referred to as phase. Seeing emptiness as a phase you need get to in order to see the Tao, makes more sense to me.
  5. stuff i thought i knew

Thanks for the book recommendation! I look forward to it.
  6. Mantak Chia

I'm quite aware that sorcery is something that is chosen - what does that have to do with anything? Same to you dude - Isn't it better to say nice things? I reported you for making a threat on this forum. You know you did it. It was an implied threat, but there was no mistaking it.
  7. stuff i thought i knew

I once tried the fusion of the five elements, and couldn't get it to work for me... but I didn't know then what the basics were. I was trying this all by itself at a time when I was having lots of trouble with fear of rejection. I didn't realize I probably should have left that for the intermediate level or something. Does Chia state in what order to go through the books? What is the Taoist theory about the inner spirits of the inner organs?
  8. Mantak Chia

Come to think of it, this gives me an idea for a screenplay! Oh oh, I can add this to my sword-fighting snow monkeys idea... Sorry for going off topic...back to Mantak Chia....
  9. Mantak Chia

Ah, thanks for explaining! I have to try to keep with pop-culture .
  10. Mantak Chia

    Word?
  11. Mantak Chia

Oh yeah? you're a Taoist Sorcerer eh? Well I'm a Fugitive Adept from an Evil Hermetic Order, and I'm going to report you for making threats, because that is most certainly what you just did: "You should always say nice things about a living sorceror." Why is it that anytime people start to think they have powers that cannot be reigned in by law, they automatically lose any sense of morality? It's like they automatically think they can and will get away with anything, so lose all moral compass completely. I used to see it all the time: "Oh yes three times three....anything you do will come back on you three times stronger," and they do it anyway. What does it matter to you if somebody you don't even know says something like that on a forum? It's not grand to be sure, but there are far better ways to handle it than to make threats. And imo the people I knew in the Evil hermetic Order were not exactly totally sane, so I think it's not unreasonable to think Sorcery could have a bad effect on a person's mind. I do hope I'm not transgressing any forum rules. I'm a cult survivor, and this kind of thing gets me riled. Thank you Mr. Yudelove, now I know not to read any of your books.

Verse 54: Cultivate Harmoney Cultivate harmony within yourself, and harmony becomes real; Cultivate harmony within your family, and harmony becomes fertile; Cultivate harmony within your community, and harmony becomes abundant; Cultivate harmony within your culture, and harmony becomes enduring; Cultivate harmony within the world, and harmony becomes ubiquitous. Live with a person to understand that person; Live with a family to understand that family; Live with a community to understand that community; Live with a culture to understand that culture; Live with the world to understand the world. How can I live with the world? By accepting. from: http://www.taoteching.org/chapters/54.htm Interesting book. I look forward to reading it.

That pot is cute thank you. Somebody commented on the tan tien chi gong book, on amazon, saying that it would only be useful for people who are into martial arts - people who are planning to get punched sometime soon. I', not planning to get punched sometime soon, but I will give it a try. yeah, I want the methods to prevent and erase traumas. I got me some acupressure books too. Thank you that is very nice of you.
  14. Moon Phase and Menstruation

Mal, I work the night shift too. It is bad for the health, *but* the extra bad effects of doing this can be helped a lot by taking melatonin: Night Shift Work Not Linked To Increased Risk Of Cancer: Contracts Earlier Study (I think they mean contradicts not contracts) http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/08/070822154944.htm Can Melatonin Improve Shift Workers' Tolerance of the Night Shift? Some Preliminary Findings http://www.informaworld.com/smpp/content~db=all~content=a785866969 I take both melatonin and GABA to help me sleep in the daytime. I also don't abuse myself by working long shifts, so I do ok. And I get breaks in between trade shows. Melatonin might help your friend, and coq10 can help with the blood pressure. Coenzyme Q10 Information & Benefits http://www.inspiredliving.com/heart-cardio/coQ10-benefits.htm I've got health issues, and had to learn a lot to be able to manage things . HTH Tyler

  16. how do I get a personal practice journal/subforum?

I remember that show all right. And that guy!
  17. stuff i thought i knew

This is where I'm at: I just want to do the repair work before starting actual spiritual work. Keeping physical and mental health is rather important. I'm not interested in sexual qigong or semen retention (I'm female). I just gotta do the repair work. So I'm putting together my wish list for books in general. Ok so would these Mantak Chia books be good to start with? Awaken Healing Energy Through Tao Healing Light of the Tao: Foundational Practices to Awaken Chi Energy The Six Healing Sounds: Taoist Techniques for Balancing Chi Energy Balance through the Tao: Exercises for Cultivating Yin Energy Tan Tien Chi Kung: Foundational Exercises for Empty Force and Perineum Power (don't really want perineum power, but foundational exercises sounds good) Taoist Ways to Transform Stress into Vitality: The Inner Smile * Six Healing Sounds Awaken Healing Light of the Tao Sound good? I hope there's nothing too advanced here.
  18. Beginner question on Tan Tien breathing

Thank you all! I will check out everything recommended here. Oh so it's really CHI were' dealing with1 So why do people call it the breath??? Chi is easy...but I can't breathe down below the lungs. Ok then... I am familiar with how chi feels, but am not yet used to trying to do things with it, or direct it. Can I do this dan tien breathing in sitting meditation?
  19. Beginner question on Tan Tien breathing

Thank you all...I will try all these things, and do the forum search on Dao Zhen. I got "The Primordial Breath" in my amazon wish list , but volume 2 seems a bit rare and pricey. Thank you....I think I am finally learning how to still the mind with this.
  20. Beginner question on Tan Tien breathing

Oh dear, I'd rather stick with the Tan Tien breathing.... If I can just visualize colors or particles that would be fine. The slow relaxed breathing is quite do-able. I suppose there could be air in the body, but it wouldn't be *breath.* That comes in through the lungs. And only enters the rest of the body through the blood! Thanks, I will try that. Or I guess visualizing air going down to the TT would be good too, if just colors can work.
  21. Amazing diagnosis of TCM doctor

I reckon I won't go to an acupunturist then...unless I am having a health diagnosis problem. It's a little too Sherlock for me .
  22. Segue to Taoism

hi all, My background is in Hinduism/vedanta/raja yoga, or was for quite a long time, but it just didn't do it for me. Now I understand why. My teacher is a European, living in Europe, who went whole hog for Hinduism/Vedanta, including all of its faults. I'm an American, living in the U.S. It was an e-mail relationship...not exactly ideal. After he told me to shove off, on the level of words, I decided to start reading other people's Yoga Sutra commentaries (other than his). I started reading other serious scriptures. And I started to see some serious problems - that the problems I found with him were endemic to the whole Hindu approach. I started hanging out on a buddhist forum because of a book I had read called "Relating to a Spiritual Teacher: Building a Healthy Relationship" by Alexander Berzin, which didn't help. I then discovered that at least the Buddhists have good clear instructions for the beginners. But it didn't work for me. So you're supposed to learn to detach by watching your thoughts without clinging to them. I couldn't do it. Also, I think the Buddhists are just very confused, and I don't like their ideas much - I think they are basically avoidance-based. Any time I really questioned them, they would have no answer, or they would get riled up and basically call me a troll. So much for the Buddha's proclamation: "Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe ...in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it."The Buddha (563-483 B.C.)" They don't do this. Sorry to any buddhists here. Anyway, I recently got interested in Taoism because of acupuncture/acupressure. There is one guy whose yoga sutra commentary I actually like, and he is also an acupuncturist, and thinks yoga and acupuncture should be combined. But forget the acupuncture, I got me some books on acupressure for emotional healing. So we'll see how that goes. Right now I'm reading Bruce Frantzis' book "Relaxing into your being," an am quite impressed so far. It's looking like I will end up being really glad that Taoism exists. Tyler (I'm a girl)
  23. Segue to Taoism

Marblehead, thank you , I look forward to trying out the acupressure and chi-gong stuff. Now I know to start out with reading some history and something simple and clear for beginners . So I'm also reading "The Shambala Guide to Taoism" by Eva Wong, to start.
  24. Segue to Taoism

Tao99, it's ok, and I appreciated the help people were trying to give me. I unfortunately ended up feeling even more angry at my teacher after seeing how much better the Buddhists can write. Even telling myself that being angry was not going to work, that it's not even very practical, does no good, because I suffered. It's better now, but not completely. So maybe the energetic approach would be far smarter for me. Acupressure and even maybe qigong...or even acu-yoga. Lordy, somebody remembers me?? Marblehead, you know, I'm thinking you are really right on the money. I'm glad to know most of the Buddhists here are well-mannered, cool. You know it's weird - I was interested in things Chinese starting from my teens ( in the late '70's), but I don't think there was as much information available then about Taoism, right? A therapist gave me a copy of the Tao te ching as a teenager, but I just couldn't get into it. It was this one I think: http://tinyurl.com/yex82j5 Anyway, I wish I had gotten into it back then.
