So according to you, women can be feminist but the right way to do it is to be ever so meek about it, and not let the men even know. Did women get the right to vote by doing things that way? No. I may not have been clear enough - I put out the question " what can feminism do for men," not what can feminist women do for men, if they do it the way that does not upset men. I see that not many even want to think about it, but I'm not surprised.

And here's something else I find interesting: Tao Te Ching 6 http://www.taoistic.com/taoteching-laotzu/taoteching-06.htm The whole thing is interesitng but here's the last part of it: It's interesting that Lao Tzu would have people, both male and female, behave in a more yielding (yin) manner. Again, I'm no expert on the Tao te Ching, nor on Lao Tzu, I just find this interesting. And perhaps I find a correlation between what Taoism might have to offer the supposedly mostly yang men, and what feminism might have to offer them. Interesting.....

mike 134 said: Translation, going by this and by the photos posted: Men are superior to women, therefore it's not possible to make them equal, and therefore feminism as an activist activity is a waste of time, and only ugly women would be interested in that anyway. Ok, I don't think this thread has anything to offer you, mike, nor do you have anything to offer to this thread. However, I would welcome discussion by more informed and intelligent people of either gender.

CT said: I intend to give both my own words, and thoughts I find elsewhere, because feminism is not something I think about all the time - not until I find myself face-to-face with the issues of feminism. . And I have found myself face-to-face with that here on this fourm. So far I've posted the thoughts of other people, because I agreed with them, and also because they are more informed about it than me. Rest assured I don't paste in something something somebody else wrote unlesss I agree with it and have thought about it, and think it's valuable. My thoughts about what feminism can do for women are basic - equal rights and conditions for women (as Aetherous put it). We've come a long way, but still haven't quite achieved it - and in many ways the situation is now going backwards. By equal rights and conditions, I define that as basically equal pay for equal work, and basic respectful treatment. Atherous said: Wow. In my opinion, the term Nazi should only be used for self-professed fascists. Perhaps you are referring to the Radical Feminist movement of the 1960's and '70;s, which has now faded. I was too young to be involved in that, in the 1960's and '70's. "The Patriarchy" most certainly does exist, unless you mean it in the sense that this plane of existence is all MAYA. So here are some thoughts about femininazism: why I hate the term ‘feminazi’ http://lipmag.com/opinion/why-i-hate-the-term-feminazi/comment-page-1/ I personaly certify that I have read the above, and agree with what the author is saying. I feel confident that I can post her thoughts because I agree with what the author is saying. Now on to something I find more interesting: The Feminine and the Tao: An Interview with Le Guin http://ekostories.com/2013/04/30/feminine-and-the-tao-le-guin/ What I find most interesting is the last post in the comments section, by "sistertongue": Brilliant. I am no expert on the history of the Tao Te Ching, but this rings truer to me, than the simplistic idea that women are yin and men are yang, and therefore men are the superior ones, and therefore women must be guided by men. I guess I would offer this to you all as what I think feminism can do for men, within the context of Taoism. Perhaps it's not that great to separate men and women out by yin and yang principles.

The purpose is to discuss what feminsim can do for men. Which is what I titled it. I have never said that any sex is better than any other sex. But if Marblehead is willing to keep other people from doing that, sure that would be great.

My friend's husband killed himself on the roof of the poolhouse last week, and she would like to do a cleansing ceremony. It's not to get rid of his lingering spirit, but to claim the house for her own. She told her therapist that now she feels like she just lost her home, even though she owns the house, and the therapist told her to not let him take her home from her. So it;s going to be a smudging ceremony, but I would like suggestions for doing the roof. Since it's not inside, the smoke would dissipate of course. I'm thinking once the area is cleaned up, we should just put salt on the surface of the roof ahead of time, maybe? I don't really want to do a wiccan opening and closing, because western magick has bad connotations for me. He also got the christmas tree out of storage and put it up in the living room just before doing the deed. So I'm planning to reclaim the tree too, probably with a christian reference. Disclaimer: this is a very painful thing, so anybody who wants to make snarky or derogatory comments, please just don't say anything. Anyway helpful suggestiosn would be appreciated. Thanks

nevnerm ind, I'm going to try to find info on how the native americas really did it.... -
AS I understand it, Ken Wilbur is a transpersonal psychology writer. Transpersonal psychology is influenced by Jung. Jung is crap - he just wanted to create his own therapy-religion, imo. Nothing at all scientific about him. I wonder if Taoism does better at dealing with "the dark side" than Buddhism or any kind of Hinduism, because of its emphasis on balance and the middle way? I really do want to know this: Taoism and Jung: Synchronicity and the Self http://www.scribd.co...ty-and-the-Self This was very interesting, but Jung is still crap.

Then I will have to search to find such examples. Thanks though. http://www.thetaobum...st-discussions/ post number 1.

Ok, but what are the more "developed" Taoists like? I mean people who have actually made a lot of progress with the practices, not people who say they are Taoist because they like the ideas? I'm guessing these would probably not be people who act like know-it-alls on a forum, so it may be hard to find such examples?

Oh, that's an interesting subject. I'd like a thread about that.

Ah yes, you can always come back with another screen name; you already have, but there is now a public record on this forum of your own bad behavior. And it can be made use of in the future. And my intention was to stop the support brigade, with a little calm thinking. Looks to be achieved! -

hi stigweard, saying something like: is a little different than What's the difference? the first one says: If he acted this way, THEN yada yada there would be violence. The second one says: You are on my list, you don't know who you're talking to OR how far I'll go, and that is a threat (from the speaker). That is more direct, and it's not talking about a hypothetical situation. So when you worked at these night clubs I presume you overhead men saying such things to each other in these clubs, yes? If you encountered such a situation in these clubs, what was it your job to do, about the men doing this? I thought we were talking about center/scotty's threat to strawdog65, in post #122 of the "gender differences" thread, not the inconsequential stuff that happened between you and center on page 4 of that thread. I think it's clear that center was suspended because of his comment to strawdog65, not anything Center said to you. Therefore, it's not about you, and apparently you can still have your "fun" with him as "scotty." Just a thought. -

Stigweard, to add my two cents in to this, it seems to me that the threat Center made was legally actionable! So when the forum rules say "anything goes," well.... the laws of the land still apply don't they ? For example: If somebody was openly trying to conduct a drug deal in the pit, and then went "oops" do you think the moderators should then be lenient about it? -
Human Growth Hormone (HGH) experiences?
tyler zambori replied to Desert Eagle's topic in General Discussion
I use arginine, ornithine, lysine, and glutamine. . And GABA too...that is also an HGH releaser. It does a lot for me. I would like to know about the source of the pharmaceutical grade arginine. Thanks. Tyler -

Yang of boundaries and personal power in relation to Yin of openness and vulnerability
tyler zambori replied to Jetsun's topic in General Discussion
rainbow vein, you are one to talk all right. You "open your heart" to people you get to know, who deserve it. You don't "open your heart" to people who will just run roughshod over you. What I see going on here could be an attempt to point to something higher, or it could be a lot of posturing that wants to look "spiritual". Or both! I would, say, don't open your heart to people you don't know; open your heart to the process of enlightenment. When it comes to people, don't expect behavior much better than that of gorillas. Even on spiritual forums. And as for psychopaths, the standard advice is that the only thing that works, is to get away from them, even if you have to quit your job or cut off a grown child. It's a rough process. Tyler -
Yang of boundaries and personal power in relation to Yin of openness and vulnerability
tyler zambori replied to Jetsun's topic in General Discussion
Pardon me, but what a bunch of BS. How's this for a thought: when you can stand up for yourself, things will then be much less stressful. *Then* you can be vulnerable with those who deserve it. I recommend: Somebodies and Nobodies: Overcoming the Abuse of Rank http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/086571486X and then: All Rise: Somebodies, Nobodies, and the Politics of Dignity http://www.amazon.com/All-Rise-Somebodies-Nobodies-Hardcover/dp/1576753859/ref=pd_sim_b_2 I think this is useful for more than just work relationships. Tyler PS: be careful about opening up to these people on this forum, if what you are opening up about goes against their values/ current level of knowledge. -

Questioning some thoughts on "God" and human progress towards enlightenment

Twinner, thank you for being nice. I'm no longer so inclined to be very open with any of you, but I will say that I still like Taoism and Taoist methods of spiritual practice. I'm quite happy with the instruction I'm finding within the Taoist books I have. Not looking for any opinions about that either, thank you. But I really do appreciate that you tried. I was having a further thought for the rest of you - those who gave me all your nasty comments. What the F*** were you people thinking about how that would help me spiritually? Was I supposed to go: "oh yeah, I'm really fucked just like you say." And then what? I see no cohesive point of any kind being made in that "bulleted list" which could not be bulleted. There was no cohesive point because it was what it was, simply a collective belching of projective crap. And this is why I called this forum a cesspool, in the "Insult policy reminder" thread. (she says looking in the moderator's general direction). I'm just not open to advice any more.
