I have done research on the nature of attraction. What exactly is it that women feel attracted to and what it is that men feel most attracted to. It is always personal, but the core nature behind it has lasted for incredible amount of years. Perhaps even back to the time we were apes, like women scratching or touching their hairs as indication of a need for grooming. This entire nature of attraction is extremely outdated for our day and age. It is just incredible how animal like this part of our nature is. Infact, attraction itself is a physical animal-like thing. Just like fighting, making war, surviving. It is good to understand these things so that it does not take control over you. Just like martial arts practice fight after fight untill they no longer have the desire to fight anymore. But relationships it self... No... Thats not just about attraction. You guys should not confuse the two. Attraction is just about sex. Friendship is about emotional love, commitment is about intellectual fit. Those three make for a relationship. So, what is that people would get attracted to you ask? For men you already noticed that beauty is one of them. But if you've been out with more girls you will soon realize that you can't feel attracted to all the beautiful girls for too long. They also need a good cheerleading ability and create challenges. If she's always talking good about other men while you're there, or when she never talks good about you around other men, then you will loose sexual attraction towards her. And if she's too easy, infact, if she comes up to you and strips down right in front of you and is no challenge at all, you will loose attraction for her eventually. What about women? They feel attracted to mystery first, not the looks. Some women fantasise about certain looks because they seem mysterious. But as soon as that pretty boy opens his mouth all mystery is gone and so is the attraction. Secondly, leader of men. You must have some leading ability, for 2 days a month they need that kind of men aswell. And then one who accepts the challenge. Very abstract, but thats it for sexual attraction for when you meet people and even have a sexual relationship with in the long run. Sex buddies don't got any emotional bond, they're no friends. Lovers are sexual friends. Partners are commited sexual friends. Thats the one to aim for. Well, if you want..

You're not in another dimension, you simply lost awareness and therefor are as good as dead. Your conscious is gone, the ego is dead, you're one with nature, whatever you may think. Your time is what you perceive it to be, if you do not perceive it at all you will have entire days pass by in a single flash. If you're more aware, you will actually slow down your perception of time and witness it in greater detail. This may seem confusing when you do it for the first time. Time(your perception of it) does slow down when you're meditating for more awarenes. I actually tested this for my self. Here is how I did it: When I cook something in the kitchen, I alwas return right before its done, on intuition. After so many times, you just feel it when the time to turn of the fire or heat is there. And if you ignore the feeling it will get stronger, like you have to go to the bathroom or something. Thats what you get when you burn things alot, lol. Anyways... So I did the same routine, meditating on awareness. Without any clocks or indicators of time. I simply became a better observer to my 5 senses. After a few minutes I ran to the kitchen only to see that water had not even begun to boil. Never in my life did I make such a mistake, never in my life did I change awareness during coocking. There is also this other meditation where I loose track of time and focus my awareness on one single thing, like my breath. This way I loose sense of time as this is a repeating process over and over again that gets your body and mind in a state of unconscious deep/light sleep. A state of healing and rest, this is where perception over time is lost and time is not present. It just passes by instantly and you have a vague memory of its moments.

Oh, ok... ...So can you say that in... English? Please? How can frequent yawning be good? I always had a frequent yawning when I was getting too little sleep. People got annoyed by it: they thought I was bored with them. Then they saw me yawn so often they made jokes about it. Lol I'm always a lazy sleepy guy, I have to do more excersize and take cold showers to change that. I'm trying...

Will power is the power of your will. Your influence within this world depents on your will power. How to get better will power? Use your soul more often by placing yourself in situations where you have to use your soul alot to make dificult decisions so that you can learn from everything by being present-minded aswell. Wandering about you will loose your connection to your soul and will loose your will power aswell. Thats what the symbol of will power means to me.

Try and say that you wont die in the face of death... This all sounds over-educated and extremely inexperienced. The concept of death is not something to fear, no. But it is something that you must respect. And fear it you will... I don't believe that one article will take your fear of death away. It is hardwired in your brain to "not die."

Nice post, Marblehead. Not sure what value those words got for me, but I do notice that I love to experience without judgement/abstractions. Experiencing everything to its fullest so that we may ultimately act effortless, without intention. Even taking cold showers for the first time can be enjoyable when you learn to experience it from within. Letting go of the external world, becoming aware of your perceptions/abstractions/judgements of it. It will be alot less painful, more refreshing. AAaahhh... Well... That was my thought for the day! Love and wisdom

Anyone know why Tao te Ching is so abstract? Everyone understands diffrent things from one single text. But has anyone ever tried to understand why the verses are so short, while trying to convey such important wisdom? The fact that it has lasted and hold dearly for such a long time must be because of this abstractness. Unfortunately, that also means that its not often looked upon or understood easily. We require sages to translate its wisdom for our day and age in a longer version. To bring its core essence or inner truth and spread it out to a wider audience. Abstracting is a powerful tool, if used correctly. Math is one of the most powerful tools, yet most abstract and difficult aswell. Same with the word "one." Symbols that bring up alot of value in the minds of the people, yet mean exactly what it says: "one". When you say to someone "one" his mind will wonder all over the place, because he has yet to explore the definition fully in order to return to this core essence. Same with Tao Te Ching. You read the verses, think it might mean this or that, then after a while you realize that it exactly means what it says. Depending on how good the translations are. The same thing happens when you're suspicious of a piece of formula or solution in a math book. You think it might have been translated wrongly, then you try diffrent ways of conveying the solution or formula so to understand it more deeply. Later you find that what the solution or formula is ultimately trying to convey is exactly what is written. You no longer need all the steps to get to the most simple and abstract form of the solution or formula. The formula itself holds the core essence needed. Same thing with picasso's knitting model. In the painting there is a painter painting and he is creating an abstract painting of a women who's knitting. You only see a bunch of lines in picasso's painting of a painter who is painting. No women or other stuff. This is the inner truth or core essence, this is all that matters. It is dificult for an outsider to see that those lines are ment to convey the core essence of the knitting process, because it is so abstract. Eventually the genius is picasso and those lines are all you will ever need, to understand the truth of what the women is doing. Amazing, isn't it?

Hey, guys. Thought I would respond to you. I've found myself that simplicity is often the best way, but also most often misunderstood. In science they use the word elegance to describe something that is very simple on the surface yet very complex underneath. Models, stories are elegant ways of conveying wisdom. Models change over time to make them more perfect and true, stories go trough the same process over thousands of years. Myth's are extremely abstract yet hold powerful knowledge, because they've been told for centuries. Tao Te Ching is one of the most elegant words written, and the idea that they had no keyboard or printers sounds inspiring. Perhaps thats why whoever wrote Tao Te Ching had so much time put into so few words. I woulden't want to speak too much either, lest it be forgotten what is said. Thanks for the responce.

Well, everyone says it. Best to be awake and alert before beginning meditation. Only thing is, in the morning I'm actually the least alert
-
Yeah, I once had a lucid dream where I tried to sleep in the dream so that I would wake up. Instead, the dream did not go away, but I was going into a meditation after a while. Don't remember much but black.

Yeah, I've experienced this myself aswell. Sleepy meditations don't go very well.

Those who have power over their hearts will hold the power to conquer the world, and perhaps beyond... There is the question rising from your mind. Our hearts... We feel it everyday, sometimes less then other days. We feel it in all its wonder, glory and sadness. Its mystery, undescribable. The power it has over our mind is... Beyond words. The emotions are immortal like the most powerful dragons of myth. The science of emotions still holds many mysteries to be solved. How about the rest of the world? Is there any way to win control over your emotions. Surely there is drugs, but those don't do much good. What are the alternatives to succeed at this spiritual journey. I come here, to ask it to all of you who have travelled so far in your spiritual journeys. Trying to have my echo reach so far beyond that I may reach one who has found his essence. The hero who's gone in exile and returned with this treasure that cannot be perceived by the regular eye. The essence of your being, always with you, so that you may conquer the entire world in its company. Will you share it with us? I beg of you.

Yeah, this is true for creating art. If I'm in love, I create love, even if I do not intend it. If I'm in love, I create a beautiful world all around me, even when things are pretty ugly out there. Your deepest dreams become reality when feeling love, and if the reality is not in accordance with your perception of it, you will naturally work towards changing it, without effort. Most of the time, when in love, I get the love back from the person I'm in love with, because thats what I believe in. Most of the time, when I'm sad, I make other people cry to the use of music, because thats what I believe in that moment. When I'm angry, I get other people to be angry aswell. Emotions are very contagious, it may seem invicible but that doesn't mean its not there. Well... Here on forums we'll have to be content with emoticons. -

Someone of the Tao would produce happy, joyful songs. Because emotional mastery leads to happiness, and happy people can make anry and fearful songs just as good as they can make happy songs, but they prefer to spread out their love for everything by making happy songs, ofcourse. Unless the piece requires that something other then a joyful mood has to be composed. So yeah, that is kinda what I'm asking, but more in terms of "how do we control our hearts? Our own emotions. So that we can become more happy, and in general have acces to more emotions without attachments or being controlled by it. That is emotional mastery, and the inner journey is a way to go there. -

So the more we move towards the tao the more we must let go of art? I hope not... I was thinking more in terms like this: "One goes into the Tao, isolations, an inner journey and takes a new inner core essence as his treasure to head into life in the companionship with this treasure so that you may spread it all about. I know that Tao has little to do with Art, but we can still use the wisdom to control our hearts so that we may make better art, like Love for example. Creating this kind of art will spread your love to all around you. How? We let go of our attachments of the one we love and who it is that is loving. We then seek to love everything, and understand that we are everything aswell. This is real love that is eternal and leaves you with a feeling of happiness that lasts far longer then the love for just one person. Have you tried this idea with love for mastering your inner heart, or do you still feel love only for the opposite gender? -

Yes, this is how we empty our minds, become healthy, mentally and perhaps even emotionally and physically in turns. It is extremely important that we meditate and relax our minds and bodies from time to time to reduce the effects of stress has on us in our daily life. This was not what I was referring to. I mean how, after this mastery, can we provoke emotions within our selves. How can learn to understand and feel every emotion there is to feel? How can we feel it and base our arts on it? I can certainly make dull lovesongs when I'm in a neutral mood, even more boring joyful songs when I'm sad. -

First of, to all you guys, I'm not saying that emotions control your decisions or that you should act upon them, no. I'm talking about how the emotions inspires to mind to great ideas. How mystery inspired einstein to create a nuclear bomb n stuff. I think you understand what I mean. Not the impulsive acting upon emotions, just using it for inspiration. Or is that also wrong according to the Tao? @suninmyeyes Wow, I never looked at it that way. To have art give you clues to that which is beyond experience... Well, in the western world, art is suppose to provoke emotions. Most of the popular art, wether music or movies comes from those who provoke joyful, happy, love emotions. There's also sad music, like "mad world" from gary jules, which strangely got over 30 milion views on youtube. Most sad stuff sells bad, because people prefer the joy, ofcourse. I'm not saying we should prefer one over the other, though. I am intrigued by how artists provoke emotions trough stories, films and music. I find this extremely fun to do myself aswell, to make music, write stories. Sometimes, yes. I see art that opens you to a new awareness instead of provoking emotions, but these are rare. I've never understood this kind of art. It is mysterious to me. How about actors or voice actors. Then it becomes appearant how emotions allow for better performances. You cannot pretend to be in love, without feeling the emotion itself, that would be a very dificult task. Or do you find actors something thats not good in the first place? I'm not sure what art would be without emotions. I have always dreamt about being a composer like jeremy soule, so that I can translate every single emotion to other people... Trough the use of instruments, sound, music, silence. Perhaps I'm very childish and your understanding of art is more elegant. Share it with me, please. -

Mystery... What is the key to feel mystery in your heart, so you may express it trough art. That question itself is mysterious... Why? "Why?" That is what Einstein allways asks... Hmm. What say does he have in this? ...Checking google Einstein mystery... ...Came up with quote! "The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed." That didn't make me more wise then I already was How arrogant of me Lets not dwell off here... We're on a clue... Silence that follow these 3 dots after the question "why?"... Asking "why?" leads to solving the mystery by following the children to her mother... Curiosity! Curiosity is the key to Mystery! We cracked 'm! YAY!!! Hooray! Right, guys? We got 'm, right? ...RIGHT?! -

Yeah, poetry and music are powerful tools, I've come to known. Hatred towards those who denie love is also great art. I understand. This is extremely paradoxical, like the elusive obvious. Haha! Especially on the end he's like :"I'll love you forever!!!! REALY!!! FOREVER!!! " Well, the thought of love alone inspires great joy in your art. Always. ...How about mystery, guys? Reveal the last secret to meee! I'm on my knees, my jaw touching the floor Just one more to go, come on guys. We can do it! -

Hahaha! That one deserves an entire virtual audience, here it goes(emoticons limit): -------------- -------------- -------------- -
Thanks for the post! It is interesting... Have never read something like it. In the past, I had to learn how to ignore my own believes of nice and good. This allowed me to learn alot, opening my eyes. The lines between good and bad dissapeared and that was scary. I lost my essence, and I had nothing to replace that essence. I felt confused, having no ground on which to stand upon. My reality of the world got pulled from under my feet and I was the one who did it. Now that I look back, I'm grateful for the experience. I can look beyond the world of forms and boundaries to find an essence suitable for me. One that will stick with me, wherever I go, no matter what I undertake. An inner believe that cannot be taken away from me, one that remains eternal. This rare heroes journey clues me into exile to seek for such a treasure that is inperceivable to the regular eye, the inner truth of mind and heart. My concerns for humanity are ever-present, surely. I'd like to have humans get along with eachother, have them not nuke eachother when that "end the world" red button technology is there. My transcendental essence now knows that the world will not end, that the entire universe will not notice the diffrence between such a "horrible" act and that of mine: typing this at this moment. With this kind of new core essence, I've found that I can hang out with criminals, understand them fully, yet still show them how my ways are no diffrent from theirs. That being bad is just as wrong as being good, it will open their eyes to their own core essence. Their own lack of inner truth will be obvious and they shall seek it. That is the returning of my own journey. The journeys itself will never end. Sometimes it is hard to be inspirational enough to change someones mind on these matters. "everything is perfect, even [enter dualities here]. "Yeah, I know, but bla bla." This is a sign that you have reached the mind and that it is blocking the path to their hearts. It is a natural defense that will even target you as a threat to the existance of that ego, if you fail to avoid it. Simply try to distract the mind and then reach for the heart, as if you are hunting on a quick and anxious animal. Try to ease the pain of the truth in some way. Quickly but smoothly enter this new truth inside their hearts. Do not, at all costs, even let your target have a glimps of this truth. The knowledge is your blade, they should not understand it, only feel... This will allow the ego to die in peace, without suffering. I've not perfected this art myself, but trough practice we will get closer to perfection. Again, thanks for the post. Don't see much comments, strangely. Came along this topic while searching for another one actually.

Hehe, thanks for the respond, I am already beyond these experiences. When I was a child, identifying emotions was a dificult task, because I learned to surpress them. On my current moment of life, my artistic endeavors require of me an emotional control. I mean feeling an emotion on your "will" alone. I'm not talking about feeling a diffrent emotion then is appropriate for the situation. Perhaps some meditation that will allow me to seek an emotion and stick with it? I've heared about meditation of inner smile, but I doubt that will work. Feeling happiness, the emotions of mystery, the emotion of sorrow, etc. How can I make music, or write compelling stories without these? How can I write fun stories without the emotion of joy? The emotions steer my ship of art, without it my art becomes dull, passionless, meaningless. -
Wayne Dyer- Change your thoughts, Change Your life
Everything replied to phore's topic in General Discussion
I have studied the book, found that it was extremely inspirational and artistic. There are certain teachings in the book that might change your life if you truely can believe in it and allow yourself to trust the teachings. It does not hold life changing knowledge that can't be found elsewhere, though. It is more purposed for your soul, rather then the mind. It goes to the essence of your heart and changes the thoughts from there out. I enjoyed it allot, but haven't touched it in a long time as its sparks has evaporated now. If you want to experience the sparks in a quicker and more enjoyable way, watch the movie "the shift" on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HInwRDBcI7w&feature=&p=BC5FA3977183D880&index=0&playnext=1'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HInwRDBcI7w&feature=&p=BC5FA3977183D880&index=0&playnext=1 or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HInwRDBcI7w There is something about his knowledge that is useless to be reading. Its better to see and hear him say it, try to look inside his soul if you know what I mean. He is trying to explain something that is beyond words. Also the music will allow you to experience his teachings more deeply. In the end, your heart will forget the meaning of it, unless you stick with it. -
I can email you a copy of a book for free. It sums up the basis of Business economics, Administration and Psychology/quantum psychology, from a unification theorist, psychiatrist. This will give you the core essence from you which your task of organizing and making decisions for your company will become more abstract and easier to understand. This is the quickest way to prepare someone for such a position as yourself. With this on your background, making daily difficult decisions becomes less stressful. However, I've find that people with no knowledge whatsoever can still succeed on these kind of situations pretty well. They have worldy shrewdness and experience. It requires alot of experience aswell to get better at leadership, fortunately you have the opportunity to experience it now. Without the proper knowledge/experience you will just jump around in circles or bump your head on the same walls over and over again, so educating yourself is quite important aswell. Still I must say experience is more important... Hehe Well lets put it this way... Without knowledge you will be all over the place, without experience you'll bump against walls. Without both you will bump against walls all over the place. If this is something that is bigger then your current available resources, internal and external, and you think you can't handle it, well... I would stop... Not much you can do about that, but suffering. PM if you want the ebook, its a copy of the original.

We are kinda finding the balance between intervention and letting the world flow by itself. There are certain natural laws that people will always follow, and the more we use it to our advantage (as a government) the more harmony is maintained. But to know these secrets, one must be trustworthy enough to take such a position, before preventing others from obtaining this knowledge or acting upon it. Just as you said. "Therefore he who values the world as his own self may be entrusted with the government of the world; and he who loves the world as his own self may be entrusted with the care of the world." Not many in our government can be trusted in this way, sadly... We're on information and knowledge war now, every little secret is being fought for.
