Yes, you're absolutely right. Religion like a human character changes very slowly and painful. It is very difficult for religinon to correct itself because of human factor and, of course, because of tradition. -

A religion also could have some very good spiritual practices, for example, Orthodox Christianity has a practice analogous to Taoist meditation practice(!) called "Hesychasm". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hesychasm I guess many people who are bashing a religion just have a superficial knowledge about this subject. -
I'm just kidding about meditation, but there are exciting heavy songs which you can listen and make some great visualization in your mind. For example, when I'm listening Metallica's epic instrumentals like "Orion", "The Call of Ktulu" or "Outlaw Torn" (really beautiful long heavy solo in the end) I often imagine some kind of storm on a sea in the night, or a hurricane. Such instrumentals are just modern symphonic music! It is also cool to listen to a heavy music when you are doing some physical work. Check this out: Outlaw Torn (the best part is in the end of the song): The Call of Ktulu: Orion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7kfD4lsy4o

Hello Rainbow! Gojira is really good band, and I like their music very much. It is very unusual that a death metal band sings about environment! And lyrics you provided are good and influential. You have good taste, rainbow! For me metal is the way I'm relaxing after, for example, hard working week or something, the way I can spill out negative emotions and have fun of course. Hey, post your favorite metal videos for meditation!

Simple. It is not bad until you're not alcoholic. Just don't overdo with it.

A religion is the thing that must be understood. Everybody knows in our scientific age that many things in religious writings are just a fiction and use this fact as an argument against religion. Plus the extremism spreading around the world. But religion is pursuing the clear goal - to make people follow some kind of moral code. Such moral code prevent people from following various destructive tendencies. I think people should understand a religion and separate the wheat from the chaff to take the best from it for themselves. Maybe this is the true understanding of religion. -
Hello Tio San! welcome to the forums and good luck in your practice! Oleg

Did anyone ever try gong meditation? I think whether it is worth trying or not. Does anyone have here any impressions about it?
-
You're welcome! I'm going to make some research too

Of course there is a benefit! There you will find many advises which could help you to improve yourself as well as to understand the principle of changes. I noticed reading the commentaries to hexagrams gives me some kind of reflection of my current situation in life. I think, I Ching is a tool of psychological insight in many ways. Also many laws of nature, laws of change, are reflected in this book.

Communism is bad, capitalism is good... Think using your own head, man! Don't listen to media crap. In Russia we've seen both of them, and it have appeared that both of them are total f...ng shit. -
Welcome Neo, I wish you a good yoga practice and to spend a nice time here!

I absolutely agree with you. The examples are - Chinese astrology and numerology, Zodiac astrology. All of these are combination of natural science corresponding to an observation of celestial bodies and the laws of their interaction with earth, and spirituality (interpretation of these laws). Do you know that even Leibniz derived binary numeral system from the Chinese Book of Changes (I Ching), which is used in divinations even in our days?
