Yes the katun that will soon end is simply transition to a new katun coming. My teacher mentioned written record of five katuns so far which is a total of 130,000 years. I will probably be able to commit myself to watch these videos tomorrow.

I'll have to watch this and speak with my teacher. I know he was critical of Ian Lungold over some misinterpretation of the culture. I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Kundalini awakening vs Shaminic Initiation
GreytoWhite replied to ejr1069's topic in General Discussion
I have used a variety of methods. I bought an OMNI V 3HP blender for raw food intake. I practice zhan zhuang and Chen family chansigong exercises. I have explored some Feldenkrais reprogramming. I practice Inner Smile at an integrated level. Microcosmic Orbit is almost constant now. I take a food source daily multivitamin. I take maca to charge my jing as that is a weakness I inherently possess. I take calcium supplements as well as other minerals and trace metals. I have used colloidal silver as an antibiotic and to help my nervous system recover. I take probiotics. I followed modified bigu for nearly a year. I smoke cannabis and tobacco as needed to deal with the pain and the tics. I practice sleeping meditation and dream travel. I pray a lot. Sufi poetry has helped me to see that servitude and slavery to god is not the same. I chant Sufi and listen to the sinus overtones created. I have been examining my previous experience and many suppressed memories from the post traumatic stress disorder have been brought to fore and explored. I am still dealing with emotional automatic reactions and my own thought process. Sympathy is still hard for me as I find myself apathetic toward most self caused suffering I hear from people. I listen to many different kinds of music, dependent on my mood. I write poetry and occasionally perform. My fiancee is a great resource of emotional understanding as I am for her as well. I have a few confidants who have been able to listen to my spiritual plane experiences even if they don't fully believe or understand what I speak of. I play with my friends' children and try to help them with avoiding the troubles of my own experience of painful upbringing. -

Kundalini awakening vs Shaminic Initiation

Yes it can be a brutal experience. I had to have a minor heart attack and a small stroke to be led to my path. -
Hell yeah!

I plan to read his books. B.K. Frantzis was the fellow who introduced my greatest bagua influence to the art. I've read Opening the Energy Gates of Your Body. Dr. Michael Guen has some really interesting information in his branch of Yin style bagua. http://www.wasahinstitute.com/products.html I have already read this one from the same lineage. http://www.amazon.com/Bagua-Quan-Foundation-Training-Jinghan/dp/1848190158/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1301722202&sr=8-1

fizix there are a few people such as myself who require multiple exposures to salvia to achieve any effects. I smoked it regularly and in the correct manner for a few months and got nothing but a deep voice and felt slightly relaxed. My roommate on the other hand was being eaten by our couch and moving perpendicularly to the universe. It was not "bunk junk" but I honestly do not know the explanation for this. I did not achieve any effects until I tried it again a few years later.

Andrew I am glad to see you are enjoying the book. There is a lot of information available out there and it can definitely be overwhelming. I wish you good tidings on this journey.

Yucatec Mayan Numerology and Meditative Practice Basics
GreytoWhite replied to GreytoWhite's topic in General Discussion
Firstly as to rotation around zero. Zero is relative to where you are and where you want to be. It is a pretty handy thing for finding your way. The Yucatecs use it as a universal variable but start the visualization practice with the central intersection. That said, you can rotate the grid from whatever point you want later. Uniformity of space is a non-concern, Yucatecs aren't very anal. If you can warp the grid into the shape you want to achieve, good. I can't explain how to visualize higher dimensional shapes in words. It's still very new to me and quite overwhelming to think about when not in the proper state to enable such practice. As to the Tarahumara I am not very familiar with their culture but yes maize is a staple as are beans and rice. There is very little consumption of meat, dairy, or wheat by those taught to eat simply. Mayan farmers have rejected genetically modified crops offered to them by multinationals. Eating beef is an occasional thing whereas consumption of fish, poultry, and pork are more regular but still make up a small portion of a meal. Unfortunately with Hispanic influence much has been lost, much has been changed, and much has been kept from the people. The Mayans were not allowed to teach the language openly until 1985 by priestly decree. The Yucatecs I have encountered do not use tonic herbs on a long term basis as their health is quite exceptional overall as long as they are diligent. There is a regular, moderate enjoyment of things such as rum, tobacco, and coffee. The main focus of the Yucatecs I know is to enjoy life as much as possible. They do use native herbs and preparations when sickness is at hand and they have a very well established tradition of spinal and soft tissue manipulation. Long term usage is typically described as limited to the elders to allow them to maintain a state which enables their communication and abilities on the higher planes. My teacher sends his wife to a Chinese medicine practitioner when she is ill as he is unable to import much of the native plants necessary to make what he knows is effective. The visualization practice is not something most Mayans are taught and is typically reserved for the priests and elders. Dantian usage in breathing is taught at a young age and is encouraged as the standard method. My teacher's grandfather instructed him to observe the animals around him and how they breathe as well as to watch people in their sleep. As we are already aware dantian breathing is very good for the health, the Yucatecs have understood this for a long time. As to whether they developed it in any manner similar to the Chinese practices I cannot say as the main applications I have seen and had described typically pertain to dance and manual labor. -
It will not harm you so long as you are diligent in your study. If you do not learn the proper body mechanics you can injure yourself. "Internal" martial arts have this at higher levels. Being able to root oneself is very important. If you want to learn more about it I suggest you read into zhan zhuang.

More information on possible Western physical interpretations of qi. I personally think of the sensations of qi as a byproduct of systems interaction within and outside of the body. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/03/110328092508.htm http://www.universal-tao.com/article/science.html

My Mayan teacher's grandfather taught in a similar manner. When my teacher was a boy in Cuba his friend owned a caged bird. Its song was beautiful and my teacher wanted a caged bird for himself. His grandfather chided him sternly and instructed him thusly, "If you want to hear a bird sing simply give him food and watch him play in the branches. His freedom will make his song sweeter than if he were confined." Thank you for the excellent post.

Andrew, I would recommend looking into Spring Forest Qigong as it is one of the simplest courses of energy usage I have encountered.

Yucatec Mayan Numerology and Meditative Practice Basics
GreytoWhite replied to GreytoWhite's topic in General Discussion
To clarify, my teacher did teach me the numerology but never how to practice the visualization. He has since confirmed my knowledge and technique. -
I find such texts interesting but I think that this is probably best left to communities like Rum Soaked Fist as there is a greater number of people with knowledge of these things there.

How old were you when you first got regular access to the Internet?
GreytoWhite replied to Encephalon's topic in The Rabbit Hole
I first started using the Internet at a very young age. I think my first encounter was at the age of five years old. My mother's boyfriend was an avid computer user. Growing up in Northern California and having the privilege of being in Magnet schools as well as GATE (gifted and talented education) programs enabled me to use computers daily. As to my reading experience I have read thousands of books on various subjects. I am hyperlexic and would go on reading binges of up to 40 books a week. That said I rejected the structure and culture of modern education because I found the dogmatic approach to knowledge to be incompatible with the knowledge I was gaining through my own endeavors and my firm belief in the value of knowledge gained outside of books and halls of learning. I have had the privilege of knowing high caliber individuals from a variety of fields including poets, linguists, quantum physicists, engineers, artisans, authors, and more. I have found that I am able to learn more efficiently through my own devices than through someone else's idea of what learning should be. That said the lack of papers after my name has hindered me in some ways and yet I am proud of my accomplishments and friendships.
