No thanks to the Islamic invasions of medieval India.

Gatitio follows "Direct Path" Advaita and Ramana Maharshi was the starting point for this.
-
Brian didn't want me to continue this until a definite and conclusive answer to this thread was resolved or that I start a new topic. Gatito, admit to your double standards: http://thetaobums.com/topic/32820-debunking-a-creator/?p=502408 So you're reliant on faith!!! I can't believe that http://thetaobums.com/topic/32820-debunking-a-creator/?p=502461 Yes, so are believing the Vedas, the Torah, the Bible, the Koran are of divine origin. Even Ramana Maharshi elaborated on savikalpa, nirvikalpa, nirvikalpa sahaja samadhi.

I pointed out the meaninglessness of turtle shell's assertion here http://thetaobums.com/topic/32820-debunking-a-creator/?p=502017 This may not be necessary considering that a creator god is not a determining factor for Samkhya, Jainism, Mimamsa, Vaishnavism, etc. I would also put forth the idea that monotheism didn't enter the cultural sphere of Chinese thought until Zoroastrianism, Nestorian Christianity and Islam were introduced into China through the Silk Road.

Fine, but do you agree that these dualistic parameters are the starting point in determining how to still afflicted experience?
-
http://thetaobums.com/topic/32820-debunking-a-creator/?p=502149 That's fine, but I think it would be more constructive if people were more preoccupied with how afflictions arise, how afflictions endure, and how afflictions cease, since these continue afflicted experience, which according to all Dharmic religions is responsible for furthering our perpetual confusion and migration through what is known as samsara (if you believe in that sort of thing.)
-
Another double standard? Ralis, please elaborate how the theists in this thread have not been appealing to the authority of their scripture. Gatito, when are you going to admit to your logical fallacies and double standards?
-
Limitations which are irrelevant to understanding the perpetuation of afflicted experience according to Dharmic religions; limitations which are fraught in Abrahamic religions.
-
Where is this "existence"? By using the absolute term 'is' you have stated an absolute.
-
Sure, but I responded to a post by turtleshell [http://thetaobums.com/topic/32820-debunking-a-creator/?p=501751] with a contrasting viewpoint from Dharmic religions considering it unnecessary to posit a creator god in a monotheist sense.
-
Mental. physical, verbal actions which perpetuate afflicted experience.
-
Do you feel that rationalism and logic is equipped to settle the immediate concern of understanding the perpetuation of afflicted experience?
-
Did you see the logical fallacies and double standards of gatito, ralis, etc.?
-
Like I said in several posts, all of this is irrelevant to understanding the nature of perpetuated afflicted experience.
-
Personally, I'm disappointed by this thread. All these posts and still no one has presented logic & evidence which positively refutes that Dharmic religions consider it unnecessary to posit a creator god in order to understand the nature of afflictions. Instead, just another thread replete with double standards by Brian, gatito, ralis, etc. -- in three-part harmony but lacking the 27 8x10 color glossy photos with the pictures and the arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one...

http://www.jewfaq.org/kabbalah.htm • Judaism has ancient mystical teachings • Mysticism was taught only to those who had already learned Torah and Talmud • Jewish mysticism is known as kabbalah, and part of it was written in the Zohar • Kabbalah and its teachings have been distorted by mystics and occultists • One well-known teaching is the Ein Sof and the Ten Sefirot
-
Does that include hearing certain doctrines are of divine origin i.e. the Vedas, Torah, Bible, Koran?
-
I wasn't the one who specifically mentioned Buddhism when I pointed out that Dharmic religions consider it unnecessary to posit a creator god in order to understand the nature of afflictions. From what I understood Kabbalah was originally a form of Jewish mysticism.
-
Judaism is an inherently exclusivist religion with its hereditary members being designated as "Gods chosen people."
-
All of which are irrelevant to understanding the nature of perpetuated afflicted experience.
-
The above is not Phrenology, it's evolution within our genus. Stop the double standards.
-
Which proves that you are biased and rely on double standards.
-
What's limiting are the double standards he's posted in this thread.
-
I definitely figured this out in the Insight Meditation Society.
-
Well, that makes sense, they were probably tired of spinning the wheels of absolutist fundamental ideology, when they could focus on more immediate concerns such as understanding the nature of afflictions.
