I've found since cultivating i really dislike killing anything, you see many people would rather kill an insect rather then wasting 5 seconds of their precious time to put it outside. So i think your heart was in the right place. Perhaps to some highly developed race us humans are effectively insects... Im sure we'd appreciate any mercy given then!

As far as i know he's not a real shaolin monk, he's a sanda practioner, well he certainly doesn't act like a monk at times. Shaolin monks renounce worldly life anyway so what is he doing fighting. But still where he just took those punches was quite impressive.

Spontaneous dance, shaking...and spontaneous dreaming
Ish replied to skydog's topic in General Discussion
Lucid dreaming is just like a normal dream except you wake up inside the dream. So you can walk around, do what you want, but you know it's a dream. From there people's degree of control varies, and you can get better with practice, changing the environment, flying etc. What you described seems to be images appearing in front of you due to a meditational state. -
Taoist Alchemy & Immortality - Absorption of energy from the Tao required or not?
Ish replied to Wells's topic in Daoist Discussion
From the longmen pai book- both the inner essences and external qi drawn in through breath and pores are used to create and refine the dan. -
I think you should change your display pic back to the Satan thing..
-
Yeah i've softened the breath a lot more. it's quite subtle but the technique is relatively easy. There is heat straight away on using reverse breathing.
-
Mmm very nice hope you have a good trip
-
GDB = yang shen or..?
-
Anyone else find reverse breathing quite difficult? My training up to now has basically all been natural abdominal breathing, and i can just go deeper and deeper and the breath becomes empty very easily. But reverse breathing is another story, feels so mechanical and i find myself just reverting back to abdominal breathing to half catch my breath.

Nu Dan xin fa = Female golden pill guideline. So it's the womans practice after they have foundation in yin xian fa, zhi neng gong, san xian gong etc. Nei shi fa = Method of inner vision Zi shi gang = "zi shi" is the time 11pm - 1am there are some methods for gathering yang qi. It is used after there is strong foundation in the other arts. Guan Shi Mo Xiang and ting fu yi mu = Visualizing our master and memorizing his image. Listening to and remembering our parents. May eliminate karma and train the ling (soul) to communicate with others. 16 is related to a bagua sphere 17 and 18 are interesting methods to communicate with the universe/stars, Developing xing and ling. Although the book isnt "perfect" (you cant expect a perfect training manual on this kind of art through a book - imo) i would still strongly recommend. It contains a load of good info, and gives some insight into this school. I think mantis said it's not like a step by step manual - fair enough but there definitely is some structure, lots of the practices are supplemental i think, i assume if you are taught in person certain practices may be more essential to you depending on your developement.

I can elaborate on the chapter briefly if anyone doesnt know what practices are in chinese.

Yeah it is, but i believe it's scans. Just google searching "taoist yoga alchemy and immortality pdf" should get you there.
-
Suprised to get the book 6 days ahead of schedule but here it is, will post my thoughts.

Re Taoist alchemy, i swear they replaced all the mercury and lead type description with vitality, spirit etc etc, at least in the PDF i have. The book generally feels quite clear to me apart from a few points, but still it's not a system i would practice without a teacher.

Recently I got to speak with an enlightened master and ask what enlightenment is.
Ish replied to Thunder_Gooch's topic in Buddhist Discussion
Out of interest what leads you to believe his claim of enlightenment? -
Wow really looking forward to it arriving, could you possibly give a mini overview of any practice stages it describes the methods for? cheers
-
I wouldn't mind contributing to this, depending on the amount of course

There's an interesting manga which is based around the power of "oneness" and using it to change the world http://www.mangareader.net/destroy-and-revolution

Personally i try not to do it too intellectually. Just using awareness/feel, getting into a deep state to feel out the energy and not let your mind get in the way. From the school i learned it, the channels are more near the surface. From Lu kuan yu's taoist alchemy and immortality the channels seem a bit deeper, inside the spine and up to ni wan in brain, not crown. So if the system you're using says where the points are just stick to that.

He's saying headache figuratively.

Cool. I believe my pops has studied with Saotome sensei, i'll ask him about it. He's currently training aikido with Henry Kono a few times a year, seems to get a lot out of it!
-
Studied personally with Sifu Wong Kiew Kit, and distantly with Michael Lomax. They are both greats for sure . I hope to study with Wang Liping, i believe he is great too .
-
As a practioner i can't be bothered with all this scientific definition. It's useless for me.
