I've read 2 very good books about the Tibetan Six Yogas of Naropa tradition. These deal with the death experience having an element of the "clear light" or the enlightenment experience. Bliss of Inner Fire and Practice of the Six Yogas There's a lot of other great info in these so you may be interested. Edit : just wanted to point out that the mechanism is the practioner having energy enter and absorb into the central channel via Tummo practice. The energy interacts with the chakras and their "drops" eventually causing the death experience resulting in the clear light. Well thats the bare bones , read the books for a complete and correct explanation.

I want to make clear that when I mean I would like the school to be more open this does NOT mean supporting western students spreading the teachings. I mean from my perspective the decisions of the headmaster spirit are not good for the school itself. Unless the spirit can see the future the school and knows it will not die due to it's commands!! This means someone apart from Sifu John Chang being able to attain level 4 within the Mo Pai. -

Erm did I ever say THEY wanted the school more open? Well its obvious John Chang did because he taught westerners. Edit: Why are you so close minded about the whole affair, people with mental problems can and do kill themselves during everyday activities. At least the effects of incorrect practice can be monitored by a teacher. John Chang would only teach those he sees fit. Oh and it seems 99% of the chinese indonesians students dont even bother practicing!! The school is dying out so MAYBE time to try something new huh? I really don't know what your problem is. -

I think an important thing i got from the book is that those with bad intentions not only do not end up as some powerful monsters, they can't even stick to the training!!! This is one of the things that irks me that the school isn't a bit more open, there are many westerners who are seriously committed to good practice who could open our world a lot more. -
Depending on your sense perception all things are subject to change. So you can't say something is concrete reality as it depends on the perceiver. In this way i suppose all phenomena are illusions .

Thanks for posting. When thinking about living homeless, one of the main things i was worried about was getting mugged. How low do you have to go to mug a homeless guy... I mean come on.

I remember after watching Death Note i felt like, where can i find another program like this!! Code Geass definitely lives up to (probably surpasses) that, it was excellent. Couple of other psychological themed animes, all i think are excellent - Kaiji - A guy is trapped by debt and is invited to a gambling arena to win his way out. One Outs - Same author of Kaiji, a gambler playing professional baseball. Steins; gate - Time travel, and its consequences. Puella magi madoka - Magic girls you say!!? Well just watch it, its deceptive haha. These ones make you think, will probably re watch a few of them myself .

What do you guys think of the method to gather Yin at the perineum?? Couple of thoughts - Tongue position, sitting on the earth (full lotus so perineum contact), certain pelvis muscle contractions, swallowing saliva... P.s. Drew how is your Lower Dan Tien cultivation going? -
I agree, using a timer devolved the whole thing for me. It's all about presence, not shooting for a goal :). Sign me up for the "challenge" been a while since i've done some good zhan zhaung

Imo it's just a projection from his own fear, like he said in the book, if he encountered a spirit he would be miles away already... So with that attitude doubt anything friendly will be attracted to him -
Yeahhh I was happily suprised to know the manga was completed cause the anime was INTENSE, but doesn't finish. But wow im impressed you guys all have awesome taste in anime, im going through all the posts like "yeah, yeah, yeah!" Another anime/manga i've enjoyed is Grappler Baki, the characters are really cool representing all the fighting styles. Theres some funny crossovers from real life martial arts masters like Mas Oyama and Ueshiba. Music is also nice.

Mushi-shi was pretty cool I liked the ambience and music.

I skipped past the rants on god, pseudo science and complaining about people :D. But it was still worth the read. -

Yeah I thought it was quite childish, his justifications were pretty silly too. You retain your personality after level 4 right? The spirit can still be an ass, doesn't mean it's a demon. -

And that tells me you have no empathy, or have never worked hard for anything? I honestly don't get how you don't understand that searching for and training many many years for something real, then having all posibilities of continuing vanish is something upsetting. So what if people come to him for teaching he can just deny them. Of course it's wrong for him to teach the lineage as he isn't permitted. -

So you wouldn't mind if you had searched 2 years to meet someone, practiced hard every day at this system which you couldn't find anywhere else, built a father like relationship with your master only to find he can't teach you because of an angry spirit! I would be pissed off BIG time, especially considering he was one of the highest level students, nothing to do with dedication, just his race! He's not giving out teaching instructions in the book so there's no illusions to practicing the complete levels from it. Nevertheless i can't speak for him or his personality, just it sucks what happened to him and i'm glad he's at least sharing his journey. -
