  1. The Max Christensen Facts Not Fiction Thread.

I had all sorts of weird things come up when I did Kunlun, but I knew it was all crap from my subconscious coming out and not some alien trying to abduct me. Perhaps the reason why people get all worried about the nagua snake stuff is because it's such a deep qigong that it works on your primitive reptilian brain and clearing on that deep level is bound to bring up some strange things which can be quite scary, especially if you have only done work on physical and emotional clearing before. It is certainly a very powerful technique but all the controlling of peoples body movements stuff with energy doesn't impress me, Mesmer was doing just that same stuff you see in the Kunlun video in the 1800's just using his own intuitive power without any sort of Qigong or esoteric training. He even said it worked better on the simpler country folk as they were more open to his influence.
  2. Kunlun Book

That was not my intention at all, I was simply replying to a post confirming that Jenny STARTS by emphasising health as the first step, I was not saying this is ONLY what she is teaching rather this is what she stresses in the beginning for newcomers to her system. Whereas Max doesn't so much and emphasises other aspects. It was meant in no way to diminish her spiritual attainment, rather I think it is infact the most reasonable wise approach to build solid foundations before getting on to the higher stuff. edit: ah ok Hundun no worries, the quote was taken out of context of a wider conversation so probably didn't fit properly
  3. Kunlun Book

Her dvd which includes the spontaneous Yigong is called "Qigong for self healing" so that is her emphasis. She also says on her website "Qigong, generally speaking, is for healing. There is subject, the healer, and object whom to be healed, and a method used to heal. Therefore, it is not non-dual. From an absolute point of view, there is no method that is non-dual. However, any method can lead to non-duality, if you know how. Some methods may be better than others but it purely depends on an individual." So the Yigong is at the beginning meant for healing, but it is a good method to allow people to let go which leads to the spiritual or non dual. Whereas the Kunlun book emphasises more spiritual advancement and bliss from the beginning, but in reality both methods are the same and will have the same healing, clearing and spiritual effect on a person. I'd say the main difference is that Jenny does it for a shorter time, emphasises awareness more than max and has a sort of yoga/qigong routine to close down afterwards. Yet the Kunlun book is very useful to answer questions about the practice and put your mind at rest you are doing everything correctly, the combination of both is useful for those who have no access to a teacher like me. I wonder if Max would get pissed and I would get bad karma points if I shared the book.
  4. Dangers of atheistic thinking

I wouldn't draw that many conclusions from studies like that. Are the religious people being more honest and generous out of fear? are they brainwashed to behave that way like pavlovs dog? or does it come from a genuine place in their heart. Many religious people I know act compassionate and generous on the outside but they do that by supressing their dark side which then just comes out in far more dark and dangerous ways such as through extremist bigoted views against scapegoat groups or worse, that sort of brainwashing can often do more harm than good despite it's good intentions. Personally I prefer honesty over contrived compassion from people.
  5. If you were immortal

First off i'd get a big sword for protection from this guy
  6. Are you Born from Above?

I suspect what they teach in the Fourth Way is taken much from the Essene teachings, there is an emphasis on normal manual work but there is a specific technique which they call Self Remembering you use by dividing your attention between your centres and the work you are doing which can put you in a state of "flow" just doing simple things like working in the fields and cooking, which meant they could work all day without tiring much and they would develop spiritually through their day to day affairs.
  7. Entheogens

I was looking into Ayahuasca for a while for healing as it is seen by some shaman as the healing vine, there are a lot of accounts from people on the web of how they have used it as a tool for self investigation http://forums.ayahuasca.com/ also there are a fair few videos on youtube about it, but I wouldn't underestimate its power as many people come out of it saying it was very humbling and finding it difficult the accept the truth they discover about themselves. If I was to do it I would prefer to do it with a real shaman in Peru but the problem now is that the ceremonies have been turned into part of the tourist industry so you have to really search for the genuine thing
  8. Moral character of Qi

How can you be sure that feeling isn't a programme installed in you by your parents or by society as a means to control you? You are likely to get those sorts of feelings of being not proud and nervous when you do something to break free of your conditioning so it may feel like a non virtuous act to your conditioned ego and yet it could be almost holy thing to do to break those bonds despite the negative emotions associated with it.
  9. What is your Enlightenment paradigm?

Very interesting thoughts 2netis, that's pretty amazing you got to study with Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj, there is clearly a great deal of wisdom in Vedanta and I like it's simplification in approach, yet it always appeared strange to me that a lot of the main masters seemed to die of cancer; could that be from not working with the body enough you think? I am no expert on the causes of cancer but it always surprises me when I hear a master has been affected by it as I would assume that with all the channels being open and there being no blockages it would be difficult for it to take root
  10. Changing your Qigong

I heard the spiritual side isn't taught publicly, although she says the physical side is enough for self awakening, but if anyone has received the spiritual teachings I would be very interested in hearing about them
  11. Entheogens

  12. Entheogens

In the Castaneda books Don Juan started him off on entheogens in order to move his view of reality or assemblage point to a different place to loosen him of from his perspective, but he describes how this took a toll on his health and it took him a long time to properly recover. In my view they can be useful for people who are too fixed to give them a first breakthrough but I expect most people on this site are aware of different perspectives of reality anyway through more regular methods.
  13. I hate to get all Biblical, but....

I don't think the meek inheriting the earth is meant literally, rather it is talking about realising a state of non duality where you realise that you are not separate from the entire world therefore you realise the world is part of you therefore you inherit the whole world as yourself.
  14. The point of meditation is to do nothing and if you really can do nothing then you are quite advanced But on a basic level awareness of dan tien will move energy downward away from the head and the downward movement of energy towards the earth is the healing path
  15. Kunlun and spontaneous movement qigong

I was just looking into this and the digital copy is in EPUB format rather than the more standard pdf and somehow it is tied so only works on my laptop and cant be copied even to my own computer, so it could be tricky.. Jenny Lamb's dvd can be ordered from her website, I received my copy today, it is a good quality production and has some interesting practises on it as well as the spontaneous Qigong. There isn't a huge amount of detail on the dvd about the spontaneous but you can see enough to learn how to do it and I like the way she emphasises awareness in her teachings
  16. Kunlun and spontaneous movement qigong

I bought a digital version from Lulu but for some reason it looks like all the English language versions of the book have been withdrawn and the book is now very rare, not sure why they have done that but kept the foreign language versions available You can learn the method from Jenny Lamb's dvd though.
  17. Repression vs Control

I don't think Buddhism does advocate controlling the mind, rather it teaches you that you have no control in terms of actual power to change your emotions and thoughts when they arise so you have to learn to witness them, it certainly doesn't teach repression. Control and repression is the main agenda of the ego, but that is necessary up to a certain point in your development as you can't just act on every impulse, but then surely in terms of spiritual paths it's all about relaxing and giving up your control but by witnessing you allow all to exist without being controlled by it, any path which teaches repression of anything has got it very wrong in my view.
  18. It is true that sometimes when you express problems it can upset people by triggering in them the same unresolved issues so instead of taking it as a gift to help them heal they try to get rid of the problem by trying to stop you talking about it. Also talking about problems can make people feel bad in an empathic way because they don't like to see anothers suffering and don't know how to deal with it, so they try to make you go away to avoid the feelings of helplessness and confusion it can bring. From my own experiences I found that most people don't know how to listen and often use another persons expression of suffering as a way to assert their own view of reality by telling you how to fix yourself rather than listening to you. Perhaps this is an overly pessimistic view but the way I see it is that most people have never turned around and tried to face their own suffering so they have no idea how to help another person.
  19. I could be wrong but I recognise myself in a lot of non's posts and the problem isn't too much yang rather it is his yang is being driven inward so it becomes self destructive, encouraging only the yin may just drive his yang further in towards himself. The possible solution is to get his yang flowing outward in a more healthy productive way so it is used in the service of his self esteem and self protection rather than used to destroy himself and pollute other people.
  20. The Max Christensen Facts Not Fiction Thread.

Hehe it's so hard to tell for me sometimes whether some posts are completely patronising and passive aggressive or whether they are just compassionate, the wonders of internet communication
  21. Surely feminine is just as important as masculine, lauding one over the other creates imbalance. You need masculine yang energy to separate yourself from other people to become an individual.
  22. Living the Way

I think I have only ever encountered one person in my entire life who practises this consistently, who honestly seems to get it.
  23. The Max Christensen Facts Not Fiction Thread.

When I first encountered Kunlun my first impression was that all the marketing and presentation around Max was absolutely ridiculous, I was reading Gurdjieff's books at the time and he was saying that one of the chief characteristics of ego was the desire to arouse astonishment in other people with regards to yourself and I could see that desire all over Kunlun marketing. But then I tried it and discovered it is a very powerful exercise, probably the most powerful I have ever done, so to me in my head anyway there was a contradiction between a genuine exercise and the absurd presentation of it which I think generates a lot of unnecessary controversy. Although if what they say about Max is true then there is no contradiction but they should have the foresight to see that most people won't believe it without proof.
  24. What is "natural grounding"?
  25. Dr. Michael Laitman

I don't think eastern methods are about supressing anything, at least the paths I have studied aren't
