The evidence is in experientally examining your direct experience right now. What do thoughts arise within? What is its substance, where does it exist? Can anything be said about it using the usual analytical mind? Where do thoughts come from and go to? If your "reality" only includes thought then you are excluding what thought arises within. Many of the Indian originating traditions revolve around this basic enquiry.

If you go to the Colloseum book the underground tour in advance, it's great value and you get access to exclusive areas away from the big crowds. In fact try to book everything touristy you do in advance, especially the Vatican Museum, that way you can avoid many hours of queuing.

Hi Mopaiguy. All the mods have changed since you were last here so your paranoid rant holds no ground I'm afraid.

Didn't help me much

One of the quotes of the Buddha is "I truly attained nothing from complete, unexcelled Enlightenment." That is pretty much what I have experienced during the flashes and moments when I have been around awakened teachers, the first significant moment was a complete shock as I instantly recognised that I won't get what I want out of this and there is no victory in it for me, because I wasn't there to experience it, it was also accompanied afterwards by a sense of horror. Since then basically my mind has been doing its best to deny the reality of it and occasionally has horror dreams, yet I still get drawn towards it even though I know on some level it is my own destruction.

The Royals get quite a large sum of money for free from the tax payer every year yet they own most of the prime real estate in London including most of the main shopping areas. Their investment portfolio includes stocks and shares in arms companies including those who arm countries like Saudi Arabia and those which are on international human rights watch lists. Its no wonder they like to convince people that they are not influential.

Wow a genuine post. I will ask you one question though: What is it that wakes up?

Well I live here and the majority of young people I know don't care about the royal family, it's mostly pensioners and public school people I know who are their fans. The royals have done a good job at rebranding themselves though, most of their family showed sympathy for the Nazis not that long ago, but now they are viewed as the pride of the armed forces.

The Queens family and lineage has lasted and remained while most others have fallen because in their history they had royal magicians, like John Dee and others who secured their position with esoteric methods. But back to the op, I dont think he should kneel, many of the rich people here would go nuts and they own most of the press, but I doubt that many of the regular people would care that much.

The face of a guru - kindness versus emptiness
Jetsun replied to Perceiver's topic in General Discussion
Well we were talking in the context of a Guru student relationship. It's true there are all sorts of people who set out to manipulate us for negative reasons by bypassing our defences, such as advertising and sales people. But the Guru hopefully does it for positive reasons, such as helping the student to grow and recognise their potential, at least traditionally the student signs up for that arrangement and agrees to it on some level. And as far as I can see that those who do it with love and compassion are far more successful than those who don't. -

Its also what anything psychotherapeutic or any sort of genuine intimacy is about -

That may be true, but people are generally hyper sensitive to any sort of force and manipulation so a Guru has to find a way through to a person without triggering their defences and the best way to do that is with love. -
That is your current reality, that is fine. It doesn't match mine any more. It is possible to be aware of awareness but you are right that you are you take yourself to be can't do it, but it is still possible experientally.
-
There is a difference between consciousness and awareness. Also just because you don't know something for sure it doesn't means others haven't made such a discovery
-
I am not only my mind. Being trapped in the mind and it's concepts is what Buddha meant by being trapped in Samsara. What you haven't realised that there is such a thing as being aware of awareness, or objectless awareness, where all dualities collapse. It is there where you find peace and freedom from identity with the mind. Of course the mind will say that's impossible because the mind can't grasp it, but it can be discovered experientally. Some traditions call this resting as primordial awareness.
-
In ultimate terms nothing does have separate identity, things are designated as separate by the mind for practical and functional reasons but ultimately those separations aren't real. You can explain this to the intellect in Buddhist terms using phrases such as emptiness is form and form is emptiness, but in this case unless it is seen with direct insight I doubt it will have much impact.

Quite a few spiritual traditions suggest a closer examination of awareness than you are doing here, especially with regards to identity. In reality everything always changes and everything arises out of multiple causes and conditions, so where is the fixed identity to be found? the only constant in all situations, the only thing which is always present and reliable is awareness, so if any identity is ever going to be found it is only found in what is constant.
-
That is an assumption, in reality nobody can say what awareness is made of or where it comes from. Neuroscientists can't find what part of the brain or body produces awareness and experientally you can't find the origin of awareness or identity. I'm not saying it is or it isn't bound to the body but it is about being true to what we really know.
-
What is the material of awareness?
-
Its true that Gurdjieff said that we have to create another body, while we may have astral bodies already formed for the most part we are not conscious of them and just about everyone can't maintain consciousness in them after death, if we could then we would have memory of what happens in between lives and previous lives. Most of us go into forgetfulness of everything. So one feature of the new body is a stable unmoving attention which is strong enough to remain detached and unified enough even upon death.
-
In reality there is nothing you can do to make letting go and surrender happen, all you can do is become open to the possibility of it happening. The rest is down to God, or Tao or readiness. But in terms of becoming open to the possibility meditate on impermanence and death. Try to see directly how attachment causes suffering.

How recently did you take it? You will be fine. Sometimes it takes weeks to recover from a heavy trip. Eat well, sleep well, be in nature and ground yourself and youl be fine.

Its amazing that Corbyn is going to win, because hardly anyone agrees with his politics but he is only one out of all the candidates who actually speaks from a genuine position or belief about anything, all the others are so robotic and false its ridiculous
