Who would do this? what is their motivation? -
You can see most of the English books here http://www.stoaseries.com/products/6/ they recommend on the Website to read Joshua Immanuel The Christ - His Life on Earth and His Teachings by Daskalos Words of Truth - Extracts From Daskalos' Lectures Selected by Panayiota Although I haven't read these myself, the other one I have read is "The Esoteric Teachings" which is more of a book of exercises. I have been told that "The symbol of life" is his most important book, which is probably reflected in the price being very expensive ($110!!!), although I haven't read it myself so I don't know how good it is.

The teaching of Daskalos goes much deeper than this book now, since his death there have emerged many other books with practical details and exercises from his teaching, it really goes to an impressive depth and is a real system practised by many groups now, and his daughter has continued to release more of his teachings. It isn't fiction it is the real deal of deep level esoteric Christianity. "Swimming with the Whale" is good book furthering his teaching http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/1477139699

I think energy healing can work as there are hundreds of thousands of testimonials, personally I have found some helps and others don't and find there are different levels of it, I am working with one currently on a completely different level than all the others I've tried including many of those you mention like Yuen and Elma Mayer etc. Many of the techniques perhaps even the majority work only on the level of basic relaxation but there are some which work on much deeper levels. But the thing about it is that it is not really a science and is more of an art with many variables which is why there is never any guarantee of healing, there are certain laws of nature and karmic laws which cant be removed which may need to be played out before healing can take place. There is also the issue of identity in that it is very difficult for a healer to remove something a person has identified with no matter how good they are, which is often why the Qigong level of healing won't work.

Everything is always changing, all the teachings and methodologies of the past may no longer be relevant or needed any more for many people, it is an assumption from the mind that assumes they are.
-
Trance usually means limiting the mind within certain parameters, which has its uses, but the unlimited wont be reached by a limiting imprisoning practice, which is why the higher forms of meditation involve a complete openness to all situations and experiences without any limits or conditions

You have had an eventful life so far, makes mine sound so boring. But it is your own story which is going to sell and make it stand out from the thousands of other life help manuals, people like the human story, especially if it is a bit different and by the sounds of things it is very different.
-
You may not have to evaluate it, it depends on the individual and where they are in their own evolution. An Individual like Ramana didn't feel the need for Qigong because he had the realization he was already at home so didn't feel the need to do anything to get to where he already was, and any such efforts may just take him further away. Whether he did such energy practices in previous lives I don't know.
-
There isn't necessarily any need for any of those practices. Plenty of people have got on fine without any of them, eg Ramana Maharshi

What to do when the Dark Night of the Soul hits
Jetsun replied to Songtsan's topic in General Discussion
Jeff Foster yeah, but you have to understand what he means by that, everyone in modern society does everything to get away from who they are but if you awaken you have no need to prove or try improve yourself as you are perfectly at home and fine whatever is happening, so its only incompatible with modern society in that you stop playing the game everyone else is playing, but you have no problem if others want to play it. -
I tried but can't do it. I did it for 3 weeks once, but that involved being locked up in a hut in the rainforest on my own, I did feel great though, so much more healthy.

What to do when the Dark Night of the Soul hits
Jetsun replied to Songtsan's topic in General Discussion
I don't know if you were even asking the question but the answer to what to do when the dark night of the soul hits is nothing, there is nothing you can do, if you could do anything it wouldn't be very dark. -
The decline and eventual fall of the USA as world superpower?
Jetsun replied to Formless Tao's topic in The Rabbit Hole
"The US government has charged Edward Snowden with three felonies, including two under the Espionage Act, the 1917 statute enacted to criminalize dissent against World War I. Prior to Barack Obama's inauguration, there were a grand total of three prosecutions of leakers under the Espionage Act (including the prosecution of Dan Ellsberg by the Nixon DOJ). That's because the statute is so broad that even the US government has largely refrained from using it. But during the Obama presidency, there are now seven such prosecutions: more than double the number under all prior US presidents combined. How can anyone justify that? For a politician who tried to convince Americans to elect him based on repeated pledges of unprecedented transparency and specific vows to protect "noble" and "patriotic" whistleblowers, is this unparalleled assault on those who enable investigative journalism remotely defensible? Recall that the New Yorker's Jane Mayer said recently that this oppressive climate created by the Obama presidency has brought investigative journalism to a "standstill", while James Goodale, the General Counsel for the New York Times during its battles with the Nixon administration, wrote last month in that paper that "President Obama will surely pass President Richard Nixon as the worst president ever on issues of national security and press freedom." Read what Mayer and Goodale wrote and ask yourself: is the Obama administration's threat to the news-gathering process not a serious crisis at this point?" http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2013/jun/22/snowden-espionage-charges -

Jetsun replied to Formless Tao's topic in The Rabbit Hole
No, he is being charged under the espionage act when he has not colluded with any foreign power so there are no grounds for being charged under this act, and Obama is putting pressure on governments not to take him in so he is being denied the universal human right of asylum forcing him to become a stateless person. Clearly he is the one being terrorised -
Recklessly connecting to other peoples pain/energy
Jetsun replied to skydog's topic in General Discussion
I'm not such a big fan of the delete process but if you are trying to delete something you would need to be clear what it is you are trying to delete, I don't think you will ever be able to delete the actual process of feeling sensitive to others without getting into repression, but there will be certain stories, thoughts, beliefs from the mind around what comes up when you feel others problems which can be questioned or deleted. But keep in mind all these stories and beliefs which are stirred up by other peoples pain are all your own not the others, so in a sense all these other people are always reflecting back to you things you need to resolve and heal in yourself, so it is a process in life which is trying to work for you not against you so it is not advisable to try get rid of it, there may even be a part of you attracting these people and situations towards you to try facilitate the healing. -

"US combs through half a billion of German phone calls, emails and text messages on a monthly basis and has classified its European ally on the same target level as China, a German news magazine revealed. The NSA document leaked by whistleblower Edward Snowden and published by Der Spiegel classified Germany as a “third-class” partner, on the same level as China, Iraq and Saudi Arabia, meaning that the US surveillance in Germany was stronger than in any other EU country. NSA snooped through 20-60 million German phone connections and 10 million internet data sets a day, Der Spiegel claims. In comparison, US tapped around 2 million connection data a day in France." http://www.globalresearch.ca/spying-on-our-allies-us-taps-half-billion-german-phone-and-internet-activities-a-month/5341085 Why are they so worried about Germany? I don't think the Germans are going to be happy about this considering they are meant to be allies now -
This is the main problem with Islam world wide at the moment, Saudi Arabia is funding a Wahabbi version of Islam across the globe which is an extreme and militaristic version of Islam aimed at conquering countries. In any country in the world now the Saudis will pay for a Mosque to be built, so of course most communities will accept that funding but that help comes with the condition that the Saudis put their own Immam in to preach their agenda. This happens in Europe and the UK too, many new Mosques have this condition attached to it with Immans who preach against the country they live in. The problem isnt with Islam it is with this Saudi funded extreme Islam, for example in northern Africa there used to be many Sufi dominated countries who were peaceful and live in harmony with other faiths, but now the whole of north Africa is riven with war and conflict due to this new brand of Islam. Its a cancer spreading worldwide and according to most scholars it isn't in line with the Koran at all it is a relatively new ideology.

This Dalai Lama has probably done more to promote Buddhist concepts to more people than any other Buddhist teacher on record since Gautama, in that sense he will probably go down in the history books as one of the truly great figures of Buddhist history. I would go to see him in person and receive his teachings while he is still alive if I were you and see for yourself what he is teaching, I can assure you you wont come back a Christian

Of course it depends on the individual, but if you have your whole sense of self worth and self esteem caught up in your IQ, which is incredibly common with intelligent people in this society, then it can cause problems because it is harder to get out of your mental attachments and concepts of life and into what is really going on, and can create a false sense of superiority. I live in Cambridge which has many of the brightest students in the world but there is little spiritual realization or even exploration around these parts, it is all a big intellectual circle jerk most of the time leading nowhere. If you can be really intelligent without becoming really attached and identified with that intelligence then that is something wonderful, the really smart people come to realise how little they know, but the people with high IQ often glorify themselves in the miniscule fraction they have worked out
