My understanding is that there isn't anything wrong with any of your thoughts, it is just believing in your thoughts which causes you problems; believing that your thoughts about something are the same thing as the thing itself is the fundamental crux of the dream state most of us are in and trying to wake up from. So from that perspective I think many of the New Age practices are just another way to keep you stuck in the drama of your mind and inevitable confusion, struggle and conflict that creates in you, as they maintain the delusion that you will find what you really want from that realm and it can make you happy. Adyshanti says "There is no such thing as an absolutely True thought, this doesn’t mean that some thoughts are not truer than others, only that no thought is absolutely True" So if that is true and you are interested in reality and the potential peace that brings it might be useful to try see through the illusion that thought creates altogether, rather than go chasing certain thoughts and trying to get rid of others.

You probably need something more powerful than new age teachings, something which is going to show you the illusion of all thought, rather than trying to discriminate which thoughts are better than others

Just study a bit more about basic laws of cause and effect, then you will see how killing yourself isn't likely to make your situation better

There was a communications and data bill defeated in Parliament not long ago which would have allowed government unlimited access to your mobile phone and email data, I just heard on the radio that they are thinking of reintroducing the bill in the wake of the attack in London as they think it is now appropriate. If this is passed then the killers achieved their objective, they helped undermine our liberal way of life.

Isn't it the same in this plain too though, nothing here has a static form its just changing more slowly so it appears to the mind that it does.

Maybe this guy needs this experience to grow, half the teachers in the spiritual community spend many years in misery and anger before they wake up, some of them suddenly over night. Even if it looks like they will spend years in the same cycle you don't actually know they will, that is the nature of emptiness. If you are completely honest it is almost impossible to really know what will happen in the next moment, the mind projects what it thinks will happen onto the world and then we take it as reality, but if you analyse it enough the mind really doesn't know, it is assuming and projecting and then we are shocked or suffer when life doesn't match our assumptions.

Yeah it's possible, if a person makes more of their subconscious conscious then more of their soul is present, but if parts are missing then they need soul retrieval, but different people use different models. But the existence of the soul has been debated for thousands of years so I doubt anyone here is going to be able to present proof either way. Even in Buddhist history where they say there is no soul you have masters and even the Buddha himself who worked hard through many lifetimes to develop their spiritual understanding to gain enlightenment, which I see no different from the early Christian concept that you work from life to lifetime on your soul to gain union with God in the kingdom of heaven. It seems like even Buddhists have to go through the process of having a soul to get to a place of no soul even if they don't use that exact term to describe the process. In many Western paths you work on your soul in order to be conscious after death in the astral realm so you can direct where you go instead of just being swept where momentum takes you, so in that path the concept of the soul is useful, but if you are aiming for all out enlightenment in this life right now then the idea of a soul could be a barrier.

There may not be such a thing as an eternal soul but there are different levels of truth. Souls may be impermanent and exist on the subtle level. On the ultimate level nothing exists independently but that doesn't mean you should ignore conventional truths. Try tell a Shaman who does soul healing and soul retrievals every day that souls don't exist when they spend most of their life interacting with them directly and guide them where to go when they die etc.

I guess the more cerebral and brainwashed we become the more insecure also. I imagine when people did more manual work and worked using their bodies all day without constant bombardment of hypnotic advertising they felt more embodied and more secure that they actually exist than folks these days.

Even the Buddhists say that you become a subtle body when your physical body dies, well some do. Something keeps your consciousness together from lifetime to lifetime.

The way Gurdjieff used to teach was that as soon as someone mastered a task or a spiritual exercise he would change it so they have to master a different one, otherwise once the exercise becomes habitual and mechanical it just serves as yet another exercise which you do to send you to sleep. Which is probably exactly what Tai Chi has become for these so called masters, just another mechanical thing sending them to sleep rather than waking them up.

Even if Castaneda was a fraud there is some sort of power or level of truth in those books, which is why they have been so influential to so many thousands of people.

I get what your saying, in the book Blazing Splendor about the Tibetan Dzogchen masters there are a few examples of masters interacting with daily life and aiding students completely spontaneously while in deep meditation Samadhi. I have seen a few Buddhist masters give talks where they appear to be in Samadhi or some sort of deep emptiness state at the beginning and at the end but while they are talking and doing things they can't maintain it. Theoretically though the emptiness is found in the gaps so if you are aware enough you might be able to find it in daily life in the pauses in your speech and any other gap in activity.

I don't about that, 11 out of 12 newspapers in Australia are owned by Rupert Murdoch's Newscorp!! it's like the entire media being dominated by Fox news or the Sun newspaper

Ok this video seems to prove that the no blood one is actually the fake one , take a look You can tell by the lines on the road that the second one has been doctored as they are orange and they should be red Orange lines on the road instead of red on the one without blood suggest that that is actually the one which has been altered

It's not blocked it is just flagged for not suitable for under 18s so child proof browsers wont be able to access it. I am watching both and trying to see and the non red one does look a bit clearer, yet it is filmed on a mobile phone so the picture isn't perfect. It would be very fast and strange doctoring of the video though if it is, as I saw the red hands video on the web very soon after the event happened and there is no real need for someone to do that as it is shocking enough as it is. Most of the newspapers today have enhanced the blood red on his hands, some more than others, I guess for shock value, but that is expected from the press the day after, but to doctor the video immediately after is very odd

Well which is the original video, the one from the news with the blood on the hands which came out on the web straight after the event happened, or this one which has a political message after it? this one is just as likely or maybe even more likely to have been doctored

I don't think its wrong to highlight that they are Islamic Terrorists because that is what they are, but the media does not help doing stuff like that but most people here know that the Daily Mail is a right wing joke newspaper. I dont really get what that video is saying, I don't see how having Muslims and the EDL turning on each other helps the people in power, not everything can be blamed on a conspiracy

Well I hope not, it looks like there has been a terrorist attack in London tonight by two Muslim Somalians. I had hoped that the Muslims in this country would get liberalized by our culture diluting the radicalism, but it doesn't look like that is the way it is going at the moment.

I guess I just let things play themselves out more and get less involved/attached/identified with whatever is going on. I have had periods of time when I just find how serious everyone is taking things as very funny, like everyone is playing a big game or acting and I would like to find a way to prolong that perspective.

If your worried about charlatans find a lineage of teachers because if a master can bring students to a realization he must have some knowledge, so for this sort of teaching one lineage is Ramana Maharshi » Papaji » Mooji, who have some interesting things to say about no self. There are quite a few good videos of Mooji on YouTube, he says his path is the "lazy man's way to enlightenment" lol or others would say its the direct path.

It certainly has some of the features of a doomsday cult, all you have to do is look at its artwork to see that, and its literature talks about the day of judgement all the time about how Li Hongzi holds all the keys to heaven. I suppose you could argue its not a cult as such but it has doomsday elements to it.
