I read the old Jung version many years ago and didn't think that much about it, but the Thomas Cleary version I read yesterday and it feels far more profound, it could be that it is just fitting into my own existing understanding but it fits more into the Buddhist perspective on things which feels more correct to me,. My interpretation of turning the light around is to turn the direction of consciousness around towards the source, and by doing this you don't end up fixated on any centre or any part of the body rather you are looking and listening to find the root of the mind, which is essentially ungraspable. I wouldn't advise using this technique to become fixated on the upper Dan Tien or anywhere else, I have heard this can have negative health affects.

The idea of samsara...and the idea that even thinking about it is extremely negative

Most spiritual teachings help by preventing you from creating extra added suffering by the process of resisting what happens to you, you still have to endure the basic suffering of your lot in life, the teachings just help to stop you from unnecessarily adding a whole lot more on top of it. -
Gift of Tao and Stillness movement meditation

It is a shamanic method so you might be able to connect with the lineage in your dreams -
The book "Tao and Longevity" by Nan Huai Chin explains most of the common sensations and things that come up through practice.

I'd be careful about this dangerous dog obsession Vmarco, if your mind doesn't become less fixated on it you will probably be reborn as pitbul if you were to die any time soon.

I'm pretty sure people here told me that Jenny taught Max the spontaneous adjustment, she is his master is she not? I think it is the same technique except that Jenny talks about the importance of awareness while doing it, which is what most other spiritual traditions emphasise the importance of, while max says you can watch tv while doing it. All max did was add on other things to make it Kunlun.

Many of the people here think they are masters already, if you read old posts from years ago its exactly the same, lots of different names all talking like they think they are masters. The worst is when you talk about kundalini, you get dozens of "experts" coming out of the woodwork.

enough with emptiness and dreams. we need new models.

"There are two lines along which man's development proceeds, the line of knowledge and the line of being. In right evolution the line of knowledge and the line of being develop simultaneously, parallel to, and helping one another. But if the line of knowledge gets too far ahead of the line of being, or if the line of being gets ahead of the line of knowledge, man's development goes wrong, and sooner or later it must come to a standstill." "If knowledge gets far ahead of being, it becomes theoretical and abstract and inapplicable to life, or actually harmful, because instead of serving life and helping people the better to struggle with the difficulties they meet, it begins to complicate man's life, brings new difficulties into it, new troubles and calamities which were not there before. Such preponderance of knowledge over being is observed in present- day culture. The idea of the value and importance of the level of being is completely forgotten." - G. Gurdjieff -
I think you need to get to know yourself before you try to do or change anything, which means studying your being on all levels with a curious detached awareness like you are looking at it for the first time.

Real morality comes from wisdom ie you come to see that acting in a moral way is good for you and good for everyone else and harming others is bad for you and bad for others. The way morality is thrust upon children these days is one of the main causes of false persona everyone hides behind, young children are taught to say thank you and sorry etc when you don't really feel or mean it, so it is exactly this sort of moral education which causes a split in what people feel and what they say and think.

My understanding is that the image of Lucifer being the evil horned devil has been purposefully used to demonize the old Pagan horned Gods like Pan, the image used for both is pretty much exactly the same , what is often not realised is that the Pagan gods are the Gods or archetypal symbols of the lower Chakras where your power and root reside, so the Church by demonizing that symbol they effectively cut people off from their own internal power and make them feel afraid of it. While people are cut off from their root they remain scared and need to be looked after by those who are perceived as holding the power, like a sheep with their shepherd. Which is why one of the first things Crowley did as a young man was to try to recreate the cult of Pan the ancient fertility God to reconnect with and harmonize his lower chakras, of course people were afraid of that because they have been indoctrinated to be afraid of the horned Lucifer; but who is the real demon in all this, the Pagan Gods are part of our collective psyche, so those who try to reconnect and harmonise that part of us and restore our power are trying to do a great healing and not perform some sort of evil. The image of Lucifer might be the most powerful symbol which needs reclaiming for us to regain our balance and strength, which is why you often hear about politicians and powerful people being involved in various "satanic" groups, they are freeing their own internal power while everyone else remains afraid of it.

The idea that animals/plants are lower form of species and if your lucky you reincarnate as a human?
Jetsun replied to skydog's topic in General Discussion
I don't think it is a concept of the mind based upon social conditioning, it might be a concept of the mind but could be based on other things like intuition, wisdom or universal laws. -

Jetsun replied to skydog's topic in General Discussion
Evolutionary humans are obviously higher, we have a more advanced prefrontal cortex which means we have a more sensitive nervous system and are more complex advanced beings, to argue against this is like saying a basic calculator is the same as a supercomputer. But to start talking about higher from the sense of a value judgement in the grand scheme of existence then things are a lot more complicated as all things have their proper place. But clearly we all put a value on things as being of more or less value., for example we all regard the life of a mosquito as less value than a human, why that is I am not entirely sure, but I feel it is completely correct, it could be that humans play a more important role in the life of the planet. -
Yeah rebirth may be what all of us who have neither achieved enlightenment or immortaliy or created a subtle body go through. I have no memory of rebirth but it makes sense that the subtle matter of our minds have to go somewhere, maybe if we collect it together we can direct it to where we want. I often wonder if a lot of Buddhist ideas might actually just be belief systems introduced to help people relax, if you think you have multiple lives you can relax a lot more easily in your meditation which allows for a lot more progress, whereas the belief that you only have a short time can create anxiety in the mind and tension in the body which can block progress.

I wrote my reply before I saw what you wrote, I agree its not a meditation as such, because your awareness automatically gets grounded in the body there is no need to do anything with the mind, or focus it anywhere everything just gets done.
-
It's a good meditation for bringing your awareness into your body and grounding, because you are standing you always automatically maintain some conscious awareness in the body otherwise you could fall over and hurt yourself which is why you don't need any focus or anchor to maintain your awareness, whereas with sitting meditation your mind can go flying off anywhere to any dimension.
-
Is that a common Taoist interpretation? I thought they were obsessed with maintaining some of their energy or some sort of being after death.
-
Its Jedi vs the Sith, the Jedi are not afraid to die as they merge with the force whereas the Sith are terrified to die so they practice immortality. So are you on the light side more towards the Buddhist outlook or on the Taoist dark side

I think it is considered good because it is relatively easy but yet contains so many aspects from other forms of meditation in one package For example you start with joyfully giving away your flesh to hungry ghosts, this is training in generosity and non attachment to the body while feeding hungry ghosts which repays heavy karma, this meditation alone in the Buddhist Chod tradition is considered very powerful and healing. Then the next section you visualise your bones one by one as bright white light, I think this is a Taoist addition which thelearner has explained is powerful for healing and opening up the Qi channels, also because you are dealing with the bones you are dealing with the densest aspect of the body so it is not a superficial qi exercise. Because you have to maintain a constant visualisation it is also a meditation in one pointed focus and concentration which is the aim of so many other meditation methods. Then the last stage of visualising the bones turning to dust is an exercise in letting go and just allowing without clinging, so it is a fast way to enter into a clear empty mind state, as all your attachments, issues and problems are contained within the body so without it there is nothing to hold onto or deal with all that is left is awareness. I sometimes burst out laughing in this stage as I realise so many of the things I carry around with me and worry about can just be let go in an instant. So I think people like Master Nan regard it with a lot of worth because it contains a great deal of Buddhist and Taoist technique and wisdom in one method.

Just noticed we got an occult subforum, any chance we could get a neigong/qigong subforum?
Jetsun replied to Thunder_Gooch's topic in General Discussion
I'm not that bothered if I see such threads here I don't have to read them. I'd prefer qigong and neigong subforum to actually talk about real practice which people do though, I would have thought Mo Pai threads would be considered clutter in such a place as only 1% of it is genuine talk about pracice in the real world. -

Few of them talk about qigong or neigong, they just argue about rumour and second hand information -
Why is there a limitation on Positive Votes?
Jetsun replied to eye_of_the_storm's topic in General Discussion
If haters didn't fight for their freedom of expression then many countries in the world would be like North Korea or still discriminating in one way or another, they could have just kept their mouths shut and just appreciated what's positive instead I suppose. I will fight for my right to be negative and miserable goddamit.
