  1. Difference between 3 qigong styles?

I don't have a teacher yet... But I wish to understand these different styles, to know which one would suit me best. And just out of curiosity. I didn't know that you could mix the different styles together? Wouldn't that be like mixing red wine and white wine together? Or champagne with beer?
  2. If one truly wishes to become a Heavenly Immortal, maybe he'll need to extend his life span to 500 years or what have you ?
  3. I don't understand how people can argue AND be on this forum? There is no right or wrong, so why argue about something that does not exist? Don't forget that Accept disgrace willingly. Accept misfortune as the human condition. ---- Those who know do not talk. Those who talk do not know. ---- Truthful words are not beautiful. Beautiful words are not truthful. Good men do not argue. Those who argue are not good. Those who know are not learned. The learned do not know.
  4. Hello, I wonder how the central channel goes exactly? Central channel and the sides channel. The sides channels are at the side of the central channel so it must be the same thing. I have heard things before like "draw the energy up your spine and down the front of your body", so I wonder if the central channel goes around the body or if it is just straight going from the crown to the navel?
  5. Central channel in the body

Maybe it's worse to take a risk? While remaining sensible. Finding a good teacher is not the easiest thing...
  6. Central channel in the body

Thank you! OK, in the buddha forum I asked about this book, if it is dangerous or something and I got this reply: "Yes, very dangerous. Without specific instructions, you can't pick up a book on tantra and think, "Wow, what fantastic ideas. I want to practice this right now!" This kind of attitude never brings realizations. You need the guidance of an experienced teacher. Sure, the ideas are fantastic, but if you don't know the method, you can't put them into your own experience; you have to have the key. Many Buddhist books have been translated into English. They'll tell you, "Attachment is bad; don't get angry," but how do you actually abandon attachment and anger? The Bible, too, recommends universal love, but how do you bring universal love into your own experience? You need the key, and sometimes only a teacher can give you that." So maybe it's better to find a teacher before starting to visualize things you are not really sure about
  7. Central channel in the body

Yes... The right side channel "Pingala" is red and it represents the sun and heat, so it must be yang in the chinese way, whereas "Ida" the left side channel is white and represents the moon and cold, so it must be the yin. The central channel "Sushumna" is the combination of the two. The two side channels enter the central one at the bottom (before entering the navel chakra). They combine and shoot up the central channel all the way to the crown chakra (I think). It's interesting anyway...
  8. Central channel in the body

Thanks for the answers everyone! OK the book I am reading is this one. You can read some pages there. Part 4 "Awakening the Vajra Body" - Chapter 14 "channels and chakras" (page 103 or sth like that) There he explains it in his own opinion. But I found "Sushumna" on the internet, by watching (which is btw a very good video, you should really go visit their website opensourcebuddhism). In the book he just calls it "central channel" and "side channels", maybe to make it easier for us. This book illustrates the whole central channel. It's practice is mainly aimed at focusing at the navel chakra. Which is apparently the most important one for experiencing "the bliss of inner fire". that reminds me of something... Alfred Korzybski! But that's when you have to become the map to be the territory.
  9. Central channel in the body

I'd like to hear some too. Sounds interesting. If anyone is familiar to the indian yogic tradition and what the chakras and nadis correspond to in the daoist tradition I'd like to hear that too.
  10. Central channel in the body

This is not daoism. From your description of the dantian I understand that it corresponds to the navel chakra. Actually I am reading a book "the six yogas of Naropa". When I say the central channel I mean The central channel and the side channels. It looks like you are more familiar with the daoist meridians but it must be the same thing? Edit: I found some more information: "Nadis are channels that bring energy to every reach of the subtle body" And the central channel is named "Sushumna".
  11. Central channel in the body

Erm... I didn't really understand that. Ren mai and du mai are the side channels and the chong mai is the central channel? The side channels continue around the body whereas the central channel doesn't? I am even more confused now. Does the lower dantian corresponds to the navel chakra (the chakra which is three inches below the navel) ?
  12. Power balance bands

Hello, Have you seen these? What is it that makes your flexibility, strengh and balance improve? Is this thing good for your health? Have anyone of you tested it?
  13. Kundalini yoga

On the book it says "kundalini tantra". What is the difference between kundalini yoga and kundalini tantra? and what is KAP? Edit: also another question... what is Sat Nam Rasayan ?
  14. Kundalini yoga

Ok. Is kundalini yoga for raising your kundalini only? I have read that kundalini yoga is to increase your awareness. Is that what you get by raising your kundalini from your lower back to the crown of your head? I don't really understand the purpose of this practice.
  15. Kundalini yoga

Thanks, if anyone knows more teachers tell me. I live in Paris, so I'll need a teacher who lives here (if its not for just a weeks or a month workshop). But there are also fake teachers that use you for their own benefit, so I am quite afraid... I also would like to have more information on what kundalini yoga is, please. What do you mean by electrician and Sikh and everything? I have no knowledge about all of this.
  16. g-tummo

Oh nice! But if I can't sit in full lotus in the first method, is there any difference if I do it cross legged? Or would it better to do the second method in that case?
  17. Emptiness and Thought Observation

Then what is meditation? The pleasure of being?
  18. Emptiness and Thought Observation

If you know that you have no thoughts, you are wrong, because when you don't have any thoughts you don't know that you don't have any. It's like when you are practicing a sport that needs concentration to win, you won't know that you are concentrated when you actually are. So forget about the fact that you need to concentrate (for example when you are meditating on a sound), just be the sound. When your mind is completely relaxed on that sound, you'll start to have like strange "dream thoughts", that's when you'll be at the edge falling asleep. Don't fall completely into these "dream thoughts" (or you'll fall asleep), but stay aware.
  19. g-tummo

Ah ok... Then why do they write these books if they know that it's dangerous if someone practices it incorrectly? For example Spring Forest Qigong, they make dvds about qigong, but what if a practitioner doesn't practice correctly? Is what they teach real or just for money making by the way? Because I know that on Mantak Chia's DVDs there are just wrong practices (what I have read about). Even by finding a teacher in Tibet or something you won't be sure if he'll make you practice correctly...
  20. Loneliness

Aaah... Yes, not the same thing.
  21. Loneliness

I don't understand you all, I have such a hard time finding loneliness and you just want to avooooid loneliness
  22. Loneliness

That's just when KNOWING that they ignore you and that you are nobody. If you make your mind think that and convince yourself that you are nobody then you'll think that everyone thinks you are nobody. Try to pretend as if you were in their body. They themselves also see themselves as the center of the earth. They also have ego like you do. They also want to prove you that they are someone. They might also think that they are nobody. So if you talk to them you will make them happy in proving them that they are someone. If you talk to them with the will of wanting them to be happy it's going to be easier. BUT it's not easy to make this happen unconsciously. Practice meditation everyday. Metta meditation. Here try this link http://www.wildmind.org/metta Especially metta toward yourself http://www.wildmind.org/metta/one I myself do this and I can feel the energy very strongly in my throat and heart. You can even do this while walking, waiting and everything. If you are aggressive they will hate you, not like you. You shouldn't have such a negative view of interaction and relationships. Try to talk to them while you feel in your heart that you want them to be happy, you'll see they'll love you (after a couple of good dedicated hours of meditation). Of course they like that, it's in the genes and in the feminine liking to be lead, directed, dominated, swept away. But there is a loving way of doing that. While you make love to her you can be the most dominating and bad ass guy, but it will only stay in the context of sex. Because in sex it is the cause of arousal and a proof to her that you are aroused, so being a bad ass guy that way just makes her more aroused and love it even more. It's not the same thing being bad ass guy in real as it is in sex. Women are not looking for a bad ass shit guy who treats her like shit in real, because that way she'll feel that she is being treated badly. In sex she would feel that she is being treated in a more sexual way... Dominant also means that she has to be lead and directed, because the feminine has a hard time finding the right direction. But brutally dominant is just a man with low self esteem, who acts brutally when he feels bad about himself and thinks that he is just shit, because he was used to get beat up by his father screaming "you're just shit" at him. Saying that "brutally dominant men" are bad men is wrong, because everyone is human and that's just the way it is. This world is only sick when looking at it with a sick mind.
  23. celibacy for 8 months...

Ooh great! I'll try that Bach formula when I pass an exam or something
  24. Loneliness

I have had chronic problems for 10years because my spleen was blocked. The chronic problem was that my nose was running all the time. A shaman in Bali healed me 4 months ago and I was fine for the first time in 10 years until 1 month ago I got a cold and it started over again + that my throat have been aching for 1 month too now -.- so damn sad. But don't quite believe that my bad spleen cause me self esteem problems too? I am quite shy, but in my opinion that's from the way I was raised... or maybe there are several consequences? (sorry if im out of the topic here)
