Indian vs Chinese Metaphysics
Harmonious Emptiness replied to ShaktiMama's topic in General Discussion
Kundalini is mostly used interchangeably with The Holy Spirit, since it can come out of nowhere, more or less, and open you up to spiritual realities about life and self that require something from another plane to explain to you in an experiential communication. Is The Holy Spirit: Jing, Chi, or Shen? If I had to guess, I would say all three are interacting but there is something more cosmic driving the bus when you ride with Kundalini... or, so I understood from explanations received. -

Glad I happened to get online when this was new or would have missed it. Love the Wu Dang videos at ur site! And how the monk is just smiling, no concern about the echoing tourist bullhorn in the background. They should put some phaser and wah-wah to her voice, would blend into the situation even more..

How to determine someone's level of enlightenment?
Harmonious Emptiness replied to goldisheavy's topic in General Discussion
I would say that either 1) the enlightened will "keep their gold in a tattered sack," so we wouldn't be able to spot them or 2) their temperament is not affected by negative events around them, they love everything, engaging in selfless deeds without concern for profit & loss, they avoid recognition. -
Keeping one's inner peace thru the Dark night of the soul?
Harmonious Emptiness replied to ejr1069's topic in General Discussion
Meditation, exercise, oatmeal, herbal tea (Algonquin: Peace Tea is good, contains Blue Vervain, Lemon Balm, Catnip, Oat Straw, Red Bergamot, Chamomile, Hops, Motherwort, Valerian, Skullcap and St John's Wort. just don't mix it with anti-depressants since it has St John's Wort. Read books that make you want to get up and make something happen, like Think And Grow Rich. -
Question about Healing Sounds

Healing sounds go back to the Yellow Emperor. There seems to be different methods of using them however. -
Semen Retention Increases Testosterone Levels by 45.7% after 7 days
Harmonious Emptiness replied to Thunder_Gooch's topic in General Discussion
From another study on the same page as the original link: "These data demonstrate that acute abstinence does not change the neuroendocrine response to orgasm but does produce elevated levels of testosterone in males." I think this upholds the interpretation that the peak was not not a fluctuation but rather the highest that the level got... -

For English haiku you have to say the word fast and then divide it into BEATS rather than syllables. There's a bit of flexibility to it since you can even count "learned" as 1 beat if you say it like that (learnt); otherwise learrrrn D works as 2 beats.

Indonesian Qigong Masters are more powerful than the Chinese

For what it's worth, I just see students having a fear response that makes them fade. "I can't hit my master/teacher" and then their brain forces them to bail on the attempt. -
Semen Retention Increases Testosterone Levels by 45.7% after 7 days
Harmonious Emptiness replied to Thunder_Gooch's topic in General Discussion
"a clear peak of serum testosterone appeared, reaching 145.7% of the baseline ( P < 0.01). No regular fluctuation was observed following continuous abstinence after the peak. " I guess "no fluctuation" means that it did not drop either. "Ejaculation is the precondition and beginning of the special periodic serum testosterone level variations, which would not occur without ejaculation. " This looks to me like it says there is a cycle that begins and ends, but only begins again with the "rainfall. Alright, seems pretty clear now. Damn scholastic efficiencies -

Is this study saying that the level stays at 145.7%, or that it's just a fluctuation and then it goes back down to the beginning as of the 8th day? I wonder about seasonal effects too, since it's said that we produce more Yang in the spring and summer, while we have to conserve it more in the fall and winter. The effects of dual cultivation are not addressed either, nor the levels of nutrients in the blood. Nonetheless, very interesting -
Is there a Purpose in Nature?
Harmonious Emptiness replied to Immortal4life's topic in General Discussion
Well, that's pretty much it. Humans have the capacity to rise beyond the survival instinct, however, we don't always do so. Don't even get me started on Darwin... his theories were totally absurd given the fact that he did not seem to know the ancient Egyptians were black Africans, and everything civilization has derived as a result of Egypt being the cultural center of the world for the first 3000+ years. Europeans didn't even know that bathing was important until about 1900 . I am of European descent, btw. edit: oh, and thanks for the vids. I'll have to watch the longer one later. -
Try a sitting meditation where you just sit cross legged and rest your palms on your thighs, straight back, neck arms and shoulders. This is a sort of warrior posture and feels very "this is where I am and I'm not movin'" Don't follow any thoughts or feelings, just relax, let energies flow and don't focus too much. Just let things be and breath out any tensions, while breathing in good clean air to clean you out. Your brain should relax and so should some of the tension in your head. Sit for at least 20 minutes like this. I think for the most part you're experiencing this because you want to experience this, whether you realize it or not. Recognize that this is just your mind playing tricks on you, and let it go. It's happening because you messed with psychedelics in probably a negligent way and you'll have to deal with the after effects. They may go on for a while but it's important to recognize the illusions for what they are. "Crazy is when you talk back to the voices." You also ought to ground yourself with the above mentioned exercise so that you have more command of your emotional reaction and response, build some internal flexibility so these feelings don't take you around.. The same as with thoughts in the meditation, don't follow them. If they come in, just let them pass through until you are back to the open and natural awareness of Emptiness (empty like the cloudless sky, not the deep dark well).

Yes, mastery of any art includes an ability to surrender like this. Listening.. It seems so obvious when in the creative zone that our ego is such a trip wire. It seems once we're really hot, really going somewhere, that our ego is felt to be the leaden weight that we need to release so that we can just go with it. When we do that we feel purified even after we're finished, able to respond to almost any situation like water (flexible without losing it's central integrity). It can be frightening sometimes, like "oh, man, I don't know what I'm doing, but if I can keep doing it I think I'll get there" and then realize new levels of ability. Most of this I say from a percussionist/drummer experience. It's amazing too how quickly we can fall when thoughts of "oh shit I'm great" are allowed in. Art is definitely a potential dojo.

I am interested to hear perspectives on alteration of forms to suit the experience of practitioners. When is it not advisable to alter traditionally prescribed forms and practices? One example, doing the 8 section brocade is it better to do each section with 8 repetitions, or just do it until it feels the right time to change? I'm sure there's a point where doing what feels right might lead to wasting time rather than benefit. Another example, adjusting seating position in the midst of meditation rather than suffering through leg and foot pain for 20 minutes+ (this numbness leads to arthritis apparently when you sleep on your arm). Changing the mudra after 10 minutes because it feels spent. Benefits of spontaneous Qi Gong?

lol so true. On the positive, it might loosen things up a bit in China if this means that his teachings are being more recognized. Maybe the Wen Tzu and Tao of Politics will find their way to the presidential bedside?
