...fascinating...: "Previous spiritual teachers, thus interpreting the nature of the world as one of ignorance and suffering, saw the only solution to be a radical transcendence of this existence, through a return to the Absolute; what the Hindus call 'Liberation' and the Buddhists 'Nirvana'. But Sri Aurobindo and Mirra suggested another, far more magnificent, but also far more difficult, alternative. Rather than go from Here (this world) to There (Nirvana, the Absolute), why not bring There down Here? In other words, why not draw the Divine or Absolute Consciousness - what Sri Aurobindo calls the 'Supermind' or 'Supramental' because it is totally beyond mind and mental activity - down into this world, into this gross physical world of matter, into one's physical body (the individual centre of inconscience), and by doing so transform, perfect, and Divinise it. The result would be the 'glorified body', the Supramental Body, the Divinised Body, the Perfected Body free of illness and imperfection. With this there would be the elimination of ignorance and negativity. Suffering would be replaced by Divine Harmony. And having achieved this state in one's own self, the next stage is to extend it out to the world as whole, and so bring about a collective evolutionary transformation." http://www.kheper.net/topics/Aurobindo/Supramentalisation.htm

sorry, I made a mistake trying to articulate. What I mean is that reading "Reality", and now "A story...", I get the feeling of something authentic and yet... also I dislike that gloomy tone, the many "terryfing" (Story),the glorification of Gengis Khan, with all his excesses and brutality, for example... the view of this world as a "dark cave of terrors" (Reality) and as a "fall"...the worst kind of mysticism, in my feeling. Added to that: watching him, I cannot avoid to feel the over-seriousness, certain pedantic self-important mannerism... Reading "Reality" nearly made me vomiting, literally... I have to say that the only thing I loved (from the DVD I watched) was this phrase: "Nature is longing for us to become conscious". I'm amazed of some authors I admire, praising his latest book... I resonate with Adyashanti, A. H. Almaas, David Spangler, Christopher Bache...but I cannot suffer this guy

“The Gaian mind is what we’re calling the psychedelic experience. It’s an experience of the living fact of the entelechy of the planet - and without that experience we wander in a desert of bogus ideologies. But with that experience the compass of the self can be set.” -- Terence McKenna, The Camden Centre Talk

Since I was a child I knew there was a mysterious, beautiful meaning to the black Madonna in my hometown... not a coincidence that the gypsys settled for centuries there, are devotees of Her. Nor there were strong undeground currents of esotericism, alchemy, etc. Lao Tse's "Mysterious Female": Tara, Kali, Isis, She of the Thousand Names is back! "Shadow and Light, Good and Evil have all prepared a divine birth in Matter: "Day and Night both suckle the divine Child."30 Nothing is accursed, nothing is in vain. Night and Day are "two sisters, immortal, with a common Lover (the Sun) . . . common they, though different their forms." (I.113.2.3) At the end of the "pilgrimage" of ascent and descent, the seeker is "a son of the two Mothers (III.55.7): the son of Aditi, the white Mother** of the superconscious infinite, and the son of Diti, the earthly Mother of "the dark infinite." He possesses "the two births," human and divine, "eternal and in one nest . . . as the Enjoyer of his two wives" (I.62.7): "The contents of the pregnant hill†(came forth) for the supreme birth . . . a god opened the human doors." (V.45) "Then indeed, they awoke and saw all behind and wide around them, then, indeed, they held the ecstasy that is enjoyed in heaven. In all gated houses‡ were all the gods." (Rig Veda IV.1.18) Man's hope is fulfilled as well as the rishi's prayer: "May Heaven and Earth be equal and one."31 The great Balance is at last restored. "Dear Friends The massive campaign of intimidation against WikiLeaks is sending a chill through free press advocates everywhere. Legal experts say WikiLeaks has likely broken no laws. Yet top US politicians have called it a terrorist group and commentators have urged assassination of its staff. The organization has come under massive government and corporate attack, but WikiLeaks is only publishing information provided by a whistleblower. And it has partnered with the world's leading newspapers (NYT, Guardian, Spiegel etc) to carefully vet the information it publishes. The massive extra-judicial intimidation of WikiLeaks is an attack on democracy. We urgently need a public outcry for freedom of the press and expression. Sign the petition to stop the crackdown and forward this email to everyone -- let's get to 1 million voices and take out full page ads in US newspapers this week! http://www.avaaz.org/en/wikileaks_petition/?vl WikiLeaks isn't acting alone -- it's partnered with the top newspapers in the world (New York Times, The Guardian, Der Spiegel, etc) to carefully review 250,000 US diplomatic cables and remove any information that it is irresponsible to publish. Only 800 cables have been published so far. Past WikiLeaks publications have exposed government-backed torture, the murder of innocent civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan, and corporate corruption. The US government is currently pursuing all legal avenues to stop WikiLeaks from publishing more cables, but the laws of democracies protect freedom of the press. The US and other governments may not like the laws that protect our freedom of expression, but that's exactly why it's so important that we have them, and why only a democratic process can change them. Reasonable people can disagree on whether WikiLeaks and the leading newspapers it's partnered with are releasing more information than the public should see. Whether the releases undermine diplomatic confidentiality and whether that's a good thing. Whether WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has the personal character of a hero or a villain. But none of this justifies a vicious campaign of intimidation to silence a legal media outlet by governments and corporations. "When they came for the Jews and the blacks, I turned away : When they came for the writers and the thinkers and the radicals and the protesters, I turned away : When they came for the gays, and the minorities, and the utopians, and the dancers, I turned away : And when they came for me, I turned around and around, and there was nobody left..." "Every form of addiction is bad, no matter whether the narcotic be alcohol, morphine or idealism." "One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious." — Carl Gustav Jung Time to have the courage to face the collective shadows of all religions. ..."when they are actually applied and utilized for their intended purpose" ...and we are humans, too humans: most of the gurus, swamis, rinpoches etc. in America and elsewhere, have practised sexual predation disguising as "spirituality"...ENOUGH! My point is to spread as much truth about idealized sugar-coated visions of the "traditions"as possible: that could save unnecessary suffering to many innocent people. The era of gurus and any kind of hierarchies is ending...my intuition was telling me this, and now I'm finding more and more contemporary mystics saying the same.. In the Kalahari, in the "spirituality" of the Original People there aren't special robes, distinctions,or privileges, or any kind of "us,Dharma brothers and them": everybody access to the Mysteries without intermediaries, together, creating an amazing mystical sinergy virtually unknown to most of the later traditions (it was known in the beginnings of Tantra: the ancient Pashupati lineage) This could be an inspiration for us to retrieve our direct relationship with this Sacred Cosmos... In fact, I'm finding rings of people experiencing deeper and deeper, transformative states of consciousness out of any tradition...really exciting I know, I know, Buddhism is better, deeper, longer, brighter, bigger, etc. etc. OK

An eye-opening interview with one of the most interesting female scholar/practitioners about Buddhist Tantra, Dr. Mranda Shaw: WIE: There have been so many abuses of power by spiritual authorities over the past twenty years, and in particular, many reported cases of sexual abuse by teachers in the Buddhist tradition claiming to be practicing tantra. Often it seems that the word “tantra” is used to justify what usually turns out to be nothing more than the pursuit of personal sexual gratification, often at the disciples expense. Even the great Kalu Rinpoche, revered as one of the greatest Buddhist masters of the modern era, often referred to as the Milarepa of the twentieth century and considered by many to have been a living Buddha, is now known to have been maintaining a secret sexual relationship with his young Western female translator, June Campbell, who claims with considerable support that she was intimidated into keeping the relationship secret. MS: I have no doubt that it happened. She was emotionally coerced into a sexually abusive and exploitative relationship. Unfortunately, the word “tantra” does provide a shield behind which sexual predation can hide. But when you actually inquire into such sexual situations, you find out that tantric practice was not the intent of the relationship. The way, for example, that June Campbell describes their relationship, there was nothing even remotely tantric about it. It was not for their mutual pursuit of enlightenment. It was purely exploitative. This is not tantra. http://lila.info/art/text/sexuality/everything-you-always-wanted-to-know-about-tantra-but-were-afraid-to-ask.html

Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Thursday expressed "solidarity" with jailed WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, criticising the Australian activist's arrest as a blow against "freedom of expression." The great archetypal astrologer Richard Tarnas (his "Passion of the Western Mind" and "Cosmos and Psyche" are mind/heart-expanding books) wrote this about these times....let's seize the moment, my friends!: "Astrologically, we have just entered a time that is characterized by some of the potent energies that seem to happen whenever Uranus and Pluto move into alignment. Last time it happened was from 1960 to 1972. This time it goes from late 2007 until 2020. Consistent with this alignment, says Richard Tarnas, “there seems to be an intensification of an impulse for radical change and an empowerment of reformist forces, but also a tendency for more social and political turmoil. Technological advances are accelerated, but so also are demographic and social disruptions. Typically, there are more liberation movements and civil rights movements and feminist impulses at work. It has been very, very consistent.” But there’s more. We have also just entered a T-square of three planets – Saturn, Uranus and Pluto – that will last until 2012. “The last time we had those three planets in a similar configuration,” he says, “was 1964 to 67. Before that, the same configuration began in late 1929 and went to 1933. “Archetypically, this configuration tends to be destabilizing of existing economic, social and political structures, creating major crisis,” he says. “Now, out of these crises enormous changes can happen that can be very productive and life-enhancing, but on the way to getting there, it is usually a pretty challenging time. The fact that there is basically a kind of meltdown happening right now in the American economy, with ripples and repercussions through much of the world, is very characteristic of this particular configuration.”

You are reading your own "shit" into the things I say and thinking it's "the truth." I say the same about you. This "meat suit" (it's a horrendous expresion) is a prodigy, an exquisite, delicate organism, a Sleeping Beauty that awakes her hyper-complex subtlety with the kiss of a loving awareness. Only the poisonous view of a monastic life-denying psichopatic perception can say such things.. Enough. Now I know your position, view, etc. OK. it works for you, great. Now I really leave it.
-
Just one comment, Vajrahirday: To be ecstatic is not my goal. It's to become what I am . Again: "meat suit" is not a subtle, refined, profound expression: it's brutal. Reveals a profound dissociation from body and feelings. Reading, for example, Charlotte Selver: yes, that is subtle, refined and profound (with a strong Zen flavor, by the way...) http://www.sensoryawareness.org/store.html#writings I don't "oppose" Buddhism. In fact, I'm deeply influenced by Zen and Dzogchen. I simply have a innate allergy to fanatics of any kind. As the Zen teachers say, you stink of Buddhism... I bow to your Buddha nature, not to your Buddhist fanaticism.
-
These experiences go beyond being trapped in a meat suit This phrase of disgust for embodiment speaks volumes Buddhism is not like all world religions. It's different, both relatively and ultimately. that is exactly the way a fundamentalist speaks... It seems that the Buddhist in you has devoured to the Buddha in you. I'm sorry. I leave it here
