unfortunately I had a detached retina operation, successful, but it has interrupted my practice as it requires horizontal head position during the first couple of weeks. also i had been controlling bp with the practice that spiked at the time of the operation and is not yet responsive to chi the little bit of chi i have been doing. Right now i am discouraged over the prospects for some time to come. Today I did a short sitting and short form standing since the head can now we upright for several minutes a t a time. this accident also means that i cannot travel to Calif. for at least a month longer .. well wish me luck folks peace to all beings

I do the mirror image FPCK particularly in the 'after' noon ... I think of it as the 'yin' version. Everything is mirrored. The 'yang' version if you notice, emphasizes to some extent the 'right' side of body (left brain). I feel (physically) the difference as if balance / harmony is improved? I am a 'very' mental, in the head person so this approach feels quite comfortable. For what it is worth ...

the long form fpck continues to rock ... twice a day each session done slowly, lovingly takes 18-20 min. I have experimented with the 5 short forms and continue to do so. However the long form just seems to cover the whole universe of chi. I supplement with one or two of the Ba Duan Chin, 8 pieces of brocade and some silk reeling exercises (Chen style). I have seen some discussion of there being different types of chi, but my take is that chi can be directed to different uses, body parts, spiritual well being each of which may seem to be a different energy, but it is just the practicioner's perception that is being changed. peace charlie
  4. still working with flying phoenix long form twice a day about 20 min each

  5. The Power of Long Hair + Beards

yep Samson's hair was his 'strength' actually he was a member of the 'Nazarene' sect of Judahism. Some scholars thhink Jesus was not from Nazareth rather he was a Nazarene. This supports the many 'long haired' images of Jesus
  6. still in Redlands, back to Cascabel Wed. I hope to return early in Sept and at that time be able to attend another Sat at the goose egg

awaiting your thoughts on adding a new 'form'

  7. The philosophy of Mozi, and Christ.

god bless the whole world no exceptions be aware of this consciousness
  8. i am pondering a new direction to add to my practice ... mayb liou he ba fa? ... or the sword form? your suggestion appreciated.

  9. as different things at times. that is the nutshell summary. more discussion and 'demonstration' would be necessary to be fair and complete. will try to be a better correspondent Peace Sifu

  10. drove with my son (the artist) to Edmonton, AB, Canada. arrv home 7/23. I will be in CALI next weekend, but not sure I will have time even tho i would love another session esp. level 2 class. I have some comments on chi feeling which i would like to discuss privately ... i think it is all one thing, which our 'intention' and 'awareness' can appear to us to make it feel...

FPCK folks: Really good to see other practicioners' comments. Here are some observations, if they appeal to you try them otherwise ignore . I am a 30+ tai chi player. Many of the initial experiences and teachings, which initially rather baffled me have come clear in 18 months. Plus two session with Sifu Terry Dunn. My observations/experience> Rooting: the long form weight shift in various movements, cradling eg., moving right the left heel digs in consciously move your intention to the opposite side heel as you shift weight, this really improves balance and rooting. Breath: moving your breath with though not locked to, your movement. Awareness of breath while moving deepens the practice and heals all wounds . Posture: downward motion of the hands leads to stretching of the spine and energy flow along it. Do not be surprised by sudden, small pops along the spine as you make these movements. Do the form slowly, I think Sifu Terry suggest working toward half the speed of Tai Chi form. I am closing in on this goal. It pushed me through a plateau I was on. I do the form twice daily, along with a silk reeling work out and either of Tai Chi Chuan yang long form or shorter pieces, such as the 5 short fpck forms or 8 pieces of brocade. Looking forward to reading this forum and your experience with chi kung, tai chi and especially FPCK

I second Fu dog's comments: Daily practice over long periods yields positive energy returns. I try to do two sessions a day early (5 am) and afternoon (3 pm). As a septuagenarian, I was losing some balance and had BP issues. FPCH definitely improved both issues. It is increasingly clear that joints and tendons are 'softening' with practice. The breath work now causes subtle pops and releases in my spine. My sense of rooting has improved. Some of the weight shifting left or right shows up as pressure in the opposite heel, that is a better balance, deeper root. If you begin the FPCH, results will accumulate in your physical well being. The balance and psychological benefits are more difficult to explain. Dualism slips away. Peace grows.

dear leviticus, i also do some hand energy transfer after a session, both to my heart/esophagus/pyloric valve GERD related, and to my face? Frankly I do not remember why i do the little face massage, maybe a long ago chi gong class? Don't worry too much about what follows what, the possibility of cause and effect. Instead just observe what is happening. If it is true cause and effect I usually recognize that slowly over time and repeated observation. Mainly just enjoy the new awarenesses! ridingtheox
  17. Terry, I added some comments to FPCH this morning. If I forgot something ... let me know. I will be on the road back to AZ Fri.

Thanks so much for the class. The drive back to Redlands was awful. LOL

More: i had high blood pressure 2 years ago ... doctor prescribed beta blockers, which I used until I had been doing FPCH long form about 4 months my BP dropped below 100/80 from 150/100. I stopped the meds and have been running 115/85 ever since. Today it was 103/82. I also had some GERD issues which I took several sequences of omeprazol..but gave up the meds and have had no more problems for nearly a year. (I do sometimes take antacid / omeprazol, but much less often). I am now medicine free. I am not recommending going without seeing a doctor or going off meds. Be advised I am NOT anti western med and am somewhat skeptical of all alternative medicines. This is just my experience. I do think FPCH is positive, active, self responsibility for my own health.
  19. I am in redlands again hope to visit your class May 12? I need an address and time. I posted this on my page and here both as I am never certain how these postings are forwarded.

  21. aargh currently waiting for my truck to get a new clutch in Redlands. We are up in the air as to how long we will be here. I want to write an extended commentary on the long form FP practice. It has been very productive for me. My sense of rooting increased, flow of chi in my body has become much more pronounced, breath control / non-control has relaxed. will email soon.

  22. in LA traffic are daunting. Maybe a midway between Redlands, and Santa Monica? would be better. more later ... seeing the ox thru the trees

  24. jade pillow

my chi gung approach is gentle nodding while breathing into the base of skull ( physiological and psychological ) remember never do more than 70% of the motion which leads to real pain. discount mild discomfort. try to find the balance between pain and discomfort, in other words. to begin lie on a hard surface with a rug / firm mat. pay attention to your head/neck stretching very slowly as you breathe. Feels as if you are extending the head making the neck longer and straighter. Breathe into this. then do some standing with your spine and back of head flattening against the wall ... gently no pain. turn the head slowly left and right slowly breathing. nod the head. bend your head left and rght as if trying to touch your ears to your shoulders. the image that is of course you won't go past the pain point. do this set of exercises for about 12 min total. twice a day. 10 days. if this does not improve see a medical doctor. necks and spines are not to be trivialized.
