  1. So this at least gets it away from the directional and intentional... and simply relates that there can be even subconscious 'transmission' going on and sensed by others. On one hand, maybe we should say, "if you don't like the energy in the chatroom, then leave"... but of the person who gives off that energy is in the chatroom every day for hours on end... that that does not feel "chat friendly". And a reason I'm willing to explore multiple chatrooms or 'group area' stuff which might minimize the use of chat exposure of energy.
  2. Fair enough, so a few questions on that: 1. Should that be allowed in main chat? If no, specifically why? And thus, likely you mean in private chat. 2. So change it from sexual energy to any form of energy... same question, in main chat? If no, specifically why? 3. Do you see energy spillage as a potential issue? If in private, can there be spillage?
  3. I think unless you talk to the very source of the complainers, then likely you don't have all the details but another's filtered view. I think you're referring to single event on a single day. The issue was a matter of 1-2 weeks in chat. I think this highlights a problem in not knowing an entire story. So my recent decision wasn't based on a single event. I think we're well aware of another who state their dreams were affected by energy... So this is not much different really as this was happening. It seems to me that if two people go into chat and direct the energy only at each other... there is ultimately a concern [put forth by several] whether there is energy spillage to those who do not want to participate or don't know that energy exchange is going on. That's why general chat is not to have energy exchange for now. If that energy is sexual energy, directed at each other, and others are saying they are feeling it and it is affecting their dreams, then I think it is time to at least stop that till it is understood better.

  8. "Holding up" perineum

    View your bellying breathing as an orb whereby the stomach (in four directions), perineum (bottom side) are moving in sync. Assuming Buddhist breathing method: When you breath in: your stomach expands in 3-D... and the perineum is expanding outward along with it When you breath out: your stomach naturally returns/collapses and the perineum returns as well. Some personal notes: 1. The perineum is similar to a muscle in that it should physically move. Use your finger to feel it with your breath. If it is not moving, your doing it wrong. 2. On inhale, try a more feeling of taking a dump to 'push it out' 3. On inhale, try a more collecting it back up and inward with a slight 'pull' Again, if it ain't moving, it ain't right... use your hand... find it... move it...
  9. Karlonomics and Opportunity costs

    ~~~ ADMIN NOTICE ~~~ This got reported pretty quickly and I understand why. This is where we try to encourage newcomers to open up more and share their lives. While I'm not saying we can't be straight and honest on our thoughts, it ought to at least stay on topic and be more welcoming. The newcomer area is watched a little more so for these reasons so I hope folks who decide to post there can do so respectfully. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  10. Lok Sang HO Translation in book?
    This seems correct to me. Your first is a link to his full translation of the DDJ in PDF and the second a book with a collection of his translations. A bare bones version is here: http://terebess.hu/english/tao/_index.html The advantage of the PDF is his annotations and notes.
  12. Mair 2:10
    Ok... another stretch here... Yao had nine sons... all considered worthless... maybe they represent the nine suns shoot down... the one sun left standing is represented by Shun. In fact, in storytelling, Shun is said to have found some use for the nine sons in the end, so not so worthless to him.
  13. Mair 2:10
    Wonder if there is any reference going to the fact that ultimately Yao bypassed his unworthy son for Shun as emperor.
  18. Mystery
    I never much liked Xuan (玄) translated as mystery... I always preferred, 'original', or more like 'primordial'. It has many associations in various writings but generally seems to always point to something about Heaven and often includes Earth. It is said the color of Heaven is Xuan/Dark as the color of Earth is huang/Yellow. Mystery implies an unknown and if something is unknown then how can you talk of it. Maybe it is better to say something is 'mysterious' as if it can be known but it is not clearly known. Meditation on the OneThe One resides at the North Pole, in the midst of the abyss. In front is the Hall of Light (mingtang), behind is the Crimson Palace (jianggong). Imposing is the Flowery Canopy (huagai), great is the Golden Pavilion (jinlou)! On its left is the gang star, on its right the kui, waves and breakers propagate in the void. Mysterious excrescences overlay the cliffs, vermilion herbs enwrap the hills; on the rocks is white jade, the Sun and the Moon spread their light. There you go beyond fire and pass over water, you cross the Mystery and go past the Yellow.(1) Walls and gates intersect, curtains and hangings are adorned with gems; dragons and tigers are lined up on guard and divine beings are at their sides.(2) Notes (1) Mystery (xuan) and Yellow (huang) are attributes of Heaven and Earth, respectively: "Mysterious and Yellow means the mingling of Heaven and Earth: Heaven is the Mystery and Earth is the Yellow" (Book of Changes,Explanation of the Sentences, sec. 4). (2) This passage contains terms that appear in contemporary texts related to meditation and in later texts related to Internal Alchemy: Hall of Light (the upper Cinnabar Field); Crimson Palace (the middle Cinnabar Field); Flowery Canopy (the eyebrows and, again, the upper Cinnabar Field). Baopu zi, chapter 18. Translation published in Fabrizio Pregadio, "Early Daoist Meditation and the Origins of Inner Alchemy," in Benjamin Penny, ed., Daoism in History: Essays in Honour of Liu Ts'un-yan, 129 (London: Routledge, 2006). This quotation is expanded.
    It seems a common single character to use to denote compassion in calligraphy.
    Viator emailed me this morning to say he did not ask for any attention to his departure. I think we need to respect how members come and go.
  23. And therein lies the answer... Our birth to the physical is not a perquisite (in case some thought that) but is evidence of the continuation of the spiritual path. How far you get each lifetime is part of the journey... that you follow some path each time is part of the spirit.
  24. For Marblehead
    I kissed his booty in the staff area for the great work he does and it made him blush Thanks for doing it publicly Of course, you're just telling it like it is
  25. Intent vs Visualization
    Maybe we can look at it this way... Intent - connecting directly as directed by the action/command of the mind Visualization - connecting directly as directed by a picture within the mind If I say to you: Breath - You will just do it... This is fully realized intent. Intent so integrated with the body that one doesn't realize there is any intent, but it is there. Visualization is not. Breath through your arms down to your hands - Some may use intent alone but most will being to form a picture of the intention to breath down the arms into the hands... it becomes more a focused intent (which I think someone said) I spent years with both and won't claim one or the other is more important as it always depends on context of what you're doing. Both have their place, it really depends on the practice and desired goals/outcome. My personal experience is that intent is likely always there whether we realize it or not, but we tend to add visualization.
