According to Lao Tzu and Zhuangzi what should be our train of thought All the time?
dawei replied to TheExaltedRonin's topic in Daoist Textual Studies
No Path = All Paths ; Xin=Mind=Heart=Spirit=Dao One can break things down, put boundaries around things, but it is all ultimately connected. As SFH suggests, it is all Dao in the end. -
My first thought was it is simply pointing to the essence of life; like 'praise to life itself'... if you only hold that thought, I'd think one will find an emotion like even 'happy' to arise. As soon as you add more, like 'predators', you lose that core essence.

Interesting quote as Dao is not hard to encounter but if the other three pose any kind of barrier or binding issues, then it is true. -

forgot to comment: Don't hold your breath as i never claimed one particular practice or tradition nor any specific framework. My energy path has always been multifaceted and allowing any tradition/practice to play out and be a part of my own. Energy is much bigger than any one practice or tradition. I simply follow the path of no boundaries. And a part of that is being very accepting of anyone else's path as their own path. -

That is true in experience. And is very Spirit too. I'm not one for 'practicing' this stuff when it comes and goes freely. It is more like I just 'open my eyes and I am there'. -
I mentioned somewhere else that all the dualities we can come up with (here expansion/contraction) are just the primordial, gender energies at work... but in that case, they co-exist instead of being one (expansion) or the other (contraction). So I wonder if UNMESA and NIMESA has a deeper meaning of co-existence?

I've mentioned this to someone else but the important common denominator is not text... one finds them retreating away because they can't grasp the text. The important step is there is a master who transmits something. After that two things can happen: The text is simple to understand in a way no one else does; and it is unnecessary as it is understood anyways. Xin=Heart-Mind. It is the heart which ultimately connects all things. The mind is more like the telescope. -

My basic point above was that 'text' does not define me nor bind me... neither does a school of thought. My path has always been one of letting go. I've had great teachers and masters along the way. Sometimes very straightforward and sometimes it just sunk in with very little. But it has always lead me to the next level of letting go as that seems most natural to me. You can twist that too as you want, and call it whatever names you want, and I'm ok with that. Your path is your path. Be well on that. -

Text is irrelevant. One uses words to give an understanding for here-and-now. What is not Dao? You claim to be judge of such things. Can you visit light beings? Pass through time? Visit a dimension? If not... then you are just an obstruction. LZ doesn't talk to this as this is not the common folk experience. That is why you can't understand it. Again, drop the text. If your not One with Dao you are forever following and cultivating... keep going... My path. I never said LZ speaks to this in a book. Only you interject that... but LZ is a light being and you can visit him. I have maybe a hundred visits with him and his lineage. This is not a physical test of neidan practice. That is a physical seeking. I only speak to light practice; direct visit with deities. So if Neidan doesn't use it, then that is just their absence of use. I use direct Light. Ok, so share your experience with it. Have you visited any light beings? Dimensions outside of our own? I'm eager to hear what you have experience in this regard? I asked for common experiences to continue our talk. students are just following... like a hampster on a wheel... just share light experience if you want to compare. Go Light... then you'll understand... until then... there will be lots of posts... -

So the topic is infallible? Quoting such dualist words from LZ... for the common folks to read... and follow... I explained it in another thread: It is all just a reflection of the primordial, polar gender energies.. once they arise in you and you can interact in life with them arising, coming and going, and knowing their every movement... your just going to have to practice and use words to describe the Dao. True, I don't follow Dao... that would mean a separation from Dao. That is not my path but you seem to be able to pronounce such things. I'll leave Flowing Hands to comment as that is his path. And you're stuck in what "schools" teach instead of what you actually experience. When you actually experience it, let's talk. When you can visit other dimensions, spirits, time, etc... then let's talk more as we can share experience. -
IMO, everything is just a reflection of primordial, polar gender energies. We wrap it up in 10,000 experiences and practices and paths... but in the end, every tradition seems to reflect these two energies at work. Someone once asked me to start a topic on this but it is too far removed from most to really experientially be at One with it. Meaning, likely most can understand some nuisance of it but to experience gender energies flip back and forth as a part of our natural interactions is not what most can talk about. It gets more interesting once you realize what flips that energy and how it is affecting the opposite and whole of your energy. I would just say: Keep going

I don't follow your path... so any talk of Ming and Xing is irrelevant to my path. You can only apply it to those who attempt it. My path is to directly interact with Light level/beings. Freely coming and going... visit them or them visiting me is but passing the veil without hindrance. That is not popular psychology. -
I had someone tell me they would often go to TDB via a searched link and then would sometimes get an issue. Best practice is to save the link in favorites or type it in full: www.thedaobums.com We're looking into some of this.
-
I assume issue has passed? There was some back-end poking around going on due to an issue we saw the other day.

Can you talk through a few examples of 'feeling suffocated and enslaved to everyone which in turn leaves me deeply unhappy as this runs completely contrary to how I want to live my life' ? -
Owner's Permission threads still need to abide by the board rules Now, as this is not really a staff post but rather an FYI... feel free to delete it BTW: Love this movie.

It is not based on preferences. I think this is what happens when folks don't read the small print -
I also think it is not so cut and dry... breath might affect heart beat to a degree but it does not suggest the heart is any better. The only experiments which I would consider worthwhile are: 1. Embryonic breathing to where breathing is 1-3 times a minute 2. You experiment on blood pressure JMO...

One can use the Zen saying of mountains before Zen, In Zen, and After Zen... Rules are Rules... There are no Rules... Rules are Rules. So it depends on which side of the equation you perceive 'there are Rules'. Flowing Hands has a shaman's life dedicated to cultivating Dao... and yet he can say, 'there are no rules'... So it seems he is speaking from a perspective, which I picked up on but I suspect your on the other side of the mountain still. Until one can embrace both, they are simply bound within one aspect. War in innate to Dao because Dao is the mechanism of the manifest world. Man is an arising who has an innate of Dao but when Dao is lost we find various conditions which tend to unfold... and when Dao is more innate we see various conditions which unfold... it is all relative unfolding. It is really all innate. After you downgrade mind, you give mind the only 'train of thought' possible.... so this sounds like it is still bound by mind. Forget mind. Forget thought or train of thought. If you get 'beyond the veil', it is only universal presence or consciousness or Light. Soul and Spirit intermingle. Past/Present/Future are simply one. You can jump around in so-called 'time' because you know both sides of the mountain. If your focusing.... your seeking somewhere beyond where you currently are. As an anecdotal story... on the third day of knowing me, my current wife exclaimed in great discomfort, "YOU HAVE NO RULES"... In a moment, she not only got to a perception of me but she past a veil which had bound her... all that she held sacred and true about life with its 10,000 rules... was suddenly shown to be in her mind. Now here we are, polar opposites regarding "rules"... and happily co-existing as if there are none...and some..... and then none again... and then some again... -
yea... Dr. Evil... I almost slipped on that one banana peel

We can talk "what if's" till we're blue in the face... but until it happens and/or reported... we'll then see how it plays out. Nobody has raised anything which isn't already known by staff... All I can do is wait and see... I just won't play the doomsday game without it occurring.
-
But you seem to be afraid of something which doesn't exist yet... You can say whatever you want... it will be the OP to decide if your trolling, derailing or otherwise not respecting the topic. Not everyone even has the Permissions... I'm still waiting to have an actual problem reported about this. Till then, it is all much ado about nothing as we already know all the potential issues.

I said the setting is set to NO... maybe this one was overlooked. -
Honestly, that is mostly due to some sort of fear (or self-imposed boundary). In 10 months I can count how many posts have been hidden... and I can't really disagree too much if I were the OP. Folks are keeping their threads on track and regretting a post and hiding their own. I notice that those generally using it correctly have no comment in this thread... I guess they get how to use it and what happens if they abuse it.

There is no global editing of posts... this has been already answered The only edit ability is to a Title. An Topic starter is allowed to edit their OWN TITLE. Let's get it clear before we keep yelling fire in a movie theatre: You may use your Owner's Permissions ONLY in threads you start. You may hide your own posts; This is not much different than the fact that you can edit out your own posts anyways. if you use the permissions for anything else, you risk losing the Permissions and even being suspended or banned.
