  1. To be fair to the forum... I think it prefers individual experiences shared with others. And there is a valid place for books and teaching.
  2. For the uninformed, like myself... can you explain this more? Edit: I just saw Ralis posts... and welcome anyone to comment or explain it more.
  3. thank you... I didn't read 33 pages to see what was already pointed out... or I didn't put that together I find that is true of most Daoist translators.... so that makes sense

So again... where did I say "Tao"? Your presuming something and putting words in people's mouth and claiming an explanation to fit your theory. That may be why folks don't welcome your post at times. Your just not following their comments due to a fetish focus on your own box of thoughts. Your box is tightly bound so most anyone's comment can't penetrate its thick hull. And maybe we're just too far off topic and I apologize to the OP for pushing it that way. Experience is exactly that. So let me just ask you: 1. Have you ever done mind to mind transmission? 2. Have any psychic ability to hear, see, feel, think another? 3. Have you healed another or been healed by another? 4. Do you know something will happen before it happens... not just once but consistently? 5. Have you ever focused on your body and moved the energy in that area? 6. Have you ever focused on another person's body and moved the energy in that area? I could add a hundred more... I am just sharing experiences. This is not about faith. That is what I talk about. If I've been off-topic, then I apologize to the direction of the discussion.
  5. I think our ideas of transmission differ... I likely don't really know what Dzogchen transmission, which I have read here in other threads, is about. My idea of transmission is more like drawing the curtain back to reveal it all... so I think I just have a different point of view. But thanks for sharing this. While I'm not sure I understand what you said I do like reading these threads.
  6. nothing is gained or lost

Where am I talking about faith? I simply said to replace it with "experience"... those with experience have need for the crutch of faith. Until you have actual experience, in let's say spiritual pursuits, then it may be hard to even suggest or discuss such issues.
  7. If this strays too much then just ignore it... But what is the text without transmission? I don't know much about Dzogchen but thought that was part-and-parcel. When I consider the ancient daoists, it seems they always encountered some master which put them past the line they could not cross... no amount of text would do that. I'm not trying to make an argument against texts... I value that as much as another... but transmission is singularly the most direct path anyways. So why argue it out of an equation?
  8. Yes, very true... and so why not write the book? Just a history of mistrust that it falls into the wrong hands? Maybe. Teachings has been generally selective and secret. I'd likely agree that in this modern day, there should be a more open approach.
  9. I would suffix some lines with "for certain students". Maybe the issue is that there is one path taught to 100,000 potential students. A single way is easy to oversee, explain, etc. As in life, there are lots of useless forms we endure because the masses in general need it to ensure they follow it correctly. And if one finds a path is unyielding, then that is likely not a path which fits... keep going...
  10. nothing is gained or lost

Your stuck in the senses... Until your experience is beyond the senses, you just can't grasp the point.
  11. nothing is gained or lost

    replace faith with experience...
  12. nothing is gained or lost

that word "mystery" is also a loan for "origin"... I have always preferred the latter.

Very true... So let me ask you honestly... Getting staff volunteers is harder and harder... I would like some female participation but they laugh on end at the idea. What about an advisory board where folks might feel they avoid being a staff target but willing to participate in commenting to the staff on issues. Would you or others like to be a part of that?
  14. Life itself is... your interaction and interpretation of life, is as they say: your mileage may vary. You're separating yourself from life itself.
  15. "body"... what about the soul or spirit... or past and future bodies... and why talk bodies at all except this is our local concept. When I studied Medical QIgong, the master said, "if you're here to heal the psychical body then you're in the wrong place... The necessarily healing is with the spirit and soul...". this caused me to leave the study of Medical QIgong... for the inseparable aspect.. for the unifying aspect... Seeking and searching and practicing towards something is a separating aspect... a local construction and interpretation of the present.
  16. nothing is gained or lost

You must miss the greater metaphor in it all...
  17. nothing is gained or lost

Great point... So is a cosmic idea of gaining/losing weight to be compared to slots available for enlightenment ? My comment was trying to consider the conservation of energy... it simply ALL moves about.. but you rightly comment about whether there is a contained amount in my point. I would only say it is an exchange within.
  18. The core inner aspect is not just lovely but easy to non-achieve as there is nothing to achieve.. it is just IS-Ness. Too subjective... forget truth and move beyond such human requirements. Yes, I agree with this. I think there is a lot of wisdom and insight here... but a partial entrapment to 'this life' and an attempt to interpret it. Nonetheless, nicely said regarding this 'life'.
  19. nothing is gained or lost

Did you ask the same question when you gained those 20 pounds? I think the answer should be the same
  20. Hindu Textual Studies

Done. Agreed... but in most cases, the first requesting person is the only one who normally makes any comments... I moved the Buddhist Textual studies threads but asked Simple_Jack to recommend more... So it goes. That's a good point. Let me look at that. That sounds good. This is a natural and parallel setup to the other areas but nobody asked till now. When I seed an area like this, I am sure there are some I overlook and some that shouldn't go. SO I am all ears to improve the area.
  21. Could you expand on this?
  22. Hindu Textual Studies

Cool... So let me know about "move" permissions... I really don't mind letting you move threads around.
  23. Hindu Textual Studies

Done. I don't find any recently hidden topics by you... a few individual posts. If you can remember the topic starter or some phrase or book recommended?
  24. SQL error

I did get it in the last few days... but not today...
  25. Hindu Textual Studies

Actually, I don't mind to give you "move" permissions for a few weeks if you want to build up the area??? What I would do is make you a "local moderator" of Hindu and Hindu textual studies with "move" permission.
