It was staff started to get some ideas from the community on how to improve the buddhist area... it served its purpose and likely filed away for reference for future staff. That is the deep, dark secret which has folks worried on this new years

It is actually in the moderation area... I am not exactly sure why. Probably as it was started by staff it was for staff to understand the situation... the Buddhist text sub-forum was created in response to that thread. We can restore that to public.

Jim taught it although he never used it for level 1? what time frame did it take Jim to pass all levels? And was that consistent with expectations of the original teaching?

To be fair... I think the question is not about John Chang.... but the actually teaching aspect. I think most of the naysayers are not against what JC can do... but rather whether there is a validated system to re-produce it. I've read enough myself here on TDB to see that even his western student(s), which seemed to have been later not considered anymore as a Mo Pai student(s) didn't really follow the exact instructions... or were not given the exact instructions. My one example is something I recall about reverse breathing vs normal breathing. That was overlooked as a method to use. This kind of inquiry is actually what people are interested in and should be discussed on some level... the actual practice and where one can go wrong and where one needs to go to be correct.

I don't see the discrepancy for this character but the next one (Bao on one and Cuo on another). The use of Chen and Fen in both seem consistent. If you are trying to compare to ctext, then use the Guodian there: http://ctext.org/guodian You can use the concordance at DaoIsOpen... find the character in question and then where else it exits in the Guodian... then compare the scripts and you might find a better image. http://forum.daoisopen.com/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=13 Nina (owner of that site) seems to rely a bit on Hendrick so his Guodian book would be good to have the notes for as well.
