  1. Origins of Daoism

I thought , strictly speaking, the Yijing was a Confucian text... and which the Yin-Yang school also used, as well as Daoist at some point. But I've not really researched it enough to say with too much authority
  2. Nei ye chinese english

Yes, great find on that link. I got it too and will have a look. FWIW... I've previously read Roth and Linnell and tend to prefer the latter. NOTE: Did a little cleanup. Let me know if I hide something you'd like to have back or sent to you.
  3. Origins of Daoism

Could you share more on the Gua or any links?
  4. Origins of Daoism

Yes... as 'practice' is not natural (according to Baopuzi)... there is a sense of a primitive natural following of nature/universe... which was likely lost or misunderstood at some point. Folks got sick and didn't understand how to interact with the environment anymore... and arose Dao Yin like movements, dancing, and the rest is history...
  5. Origins of Daoism

Yes. those threads never go well IMO, daoism starts with Dao... we're just not around yet to mentally understand it till we arise. So it starts with the first impulse of division from one. But from the perspective of when did Mankind seem to begin to start with daoism, it seems as soon as they arise really...and then creating fire... counting cords, observing the stars. Most of the time it tends to go back to Fuxi but there is lots of neolithic evidence that it is inherently understood in the soul of arising man... following nature.
  6. Breakfast

My physical make-up loves eggs first thing in the morning. If I don't eat eggs (let's say I skip or rarely eat cereal or whatever), I just don't have the energy I need. Years ago, I read the blood type diet and have wondered since then how much that influences us... but eggs and coffee do me wonders in the morning

  8. Hello everyone

Welcome If the questions is in general, then General Discussion. If your wanting to following something specifically Daoist, then Daoist Discussion. But feel free to choose whichever one you want. Be prepared for comments like "forgetaboutit" .... did I say welcome
  9. LDT method: hui yin <-> navel

Still preferring to do it as inhale / expand, exhale / contract? Do you know if that was the original way or you did this because it was more natural?
  10. Well that is true... group energy can be a profound energetic rising experience. I started with group sessions and paired exchange but the final 30 minutes was to simply lay down and relax... but yet, the energy was rocketing through the body by that point. That is just the aftermath, IMO... not exactly your experience. I've had the electrocution, two times... I would call 911 but I can't get enough movement of my body to find my phone... but this was while sleeping. It wakes me up. I found this was from deity/spirit/entity visits beforehand. So I think the 'cause' is different but the experience may be similar. My feeling is that energy=spirit=light. Our experience is what it is... same as our perception or clarity. I think it is possible you are getting the energy more and more refined to a spirit or light level. But your body is not able to control/contain/absorb it. Unless it is your mind holding some fear about what is going on and then you simply are cutting it off in a way. I have a simple question. You enjoy sitting for hours.... but what if you are suppose to move beyond it and you don't because you try to get that enjoyment?
  11. Why to consume soy beans

There seems to be other alternative foods 12 Foods High in Estrogen 20 Foods High In Estrogen (Phytoestrogens)
  12. Bitter Herbs

I think we should have separate threads for each of the five flavors, sweet, salty, sour, bitter, and acrid/pungent/spicy As this one is here... how about some examples of bitter foods (and balancing them if one wants to go there) ?

  14. Lz,Zz and ego

I tend to agree that Joy and sorrow are a part of the 'id'... but we might need some basic agreement on what the three parts loosely mean. I'd go for: Id = instincts, wants, needs, desires Ego = Caretaker of the Id... decides how to best meet what the Id wants and needs. Superego = The inner critic of the Ego... self-evaluation of whether the Ego did its job right or wrong. Unless I'm viewing this wrong, I think Lz and Zz both tend towards Id driven ways but disagree as to how the Ego should achieve it. Lz is more practical; Zz more aloft. IMO, neither would appeal to the Superego except if it meant for Lz to change with the times and adapt to 'now'. That would be his practical side. Zz would, to me, ignore the times and just continue to just 'be'...
  15. The Father and Son of Taoist Philosophy

Great Question Stosh ... As LZ is generally more grounded (not sure the right word here, but he smiles upon our earthly attachments more) than ZZ, I would think he talks of this sentiment... This is worthy of a separate discussion
  16. Gender Option Change

Thanks for all the ideas. I think we'll leave it alone for now
  17. Gender Option Change

I tend to agree with consistent labels. The third option should basically be no option... that's why I'd rather avoid 'other'. We're still stuck with not being able to simply say "I'm not playing this gender game"... I'll leave this idea open to see if anyone really has a strong objection to "Unknown".
  18. Ethics - binding or liberating?

"As Kierkegaard was at pains to stress, persons in the grip of a particular outlook were only too apt to deceive themselves into supporting that no other options lay open, tending to interpret whatever was presented to them in a fashion that conformed to its requirements." - Kierkegaard, Patrick Gariner
  19. Language we trick ourselves with

I think it was Sartre who took exception to this bedrock phrase and reworded as: I think therefore I am a thinking thing.
  20. Sometimes I think that....

This is the self talking... and that same self is the one telling you to retreat into the shell. So your 'self' is telling you go give up one prison for another (shell) ? Maybe the point is reached when you stop listen to the 'self' talk. It is self-preserving and will do anything to avoid having you let go of that last line of ownership over you. This seems a rather common strategy of the 'self' when it feels threatened on a certain level.
  21. So the lines above have not reached the point of showing how a person can directly visit a Spirit and be in its presence...or the explanation above doesn't intent to really try to suggest that.

  23. Meaning of Chin (or Chen?) Gong?

    Maybe Qinggong (轻功).
  24. Personally not sure but seems reasonable that if your intention is to invite any and all, you'll regret get what your asking for. Not sure that makes sense to me as stuff is always around us, we just don't perceive it. Maybe you mean a defense from something more like possession? I think latent intent probably has something to do with some of it... meaning, I have intent to stop what happens. But I know the visits tend to only occur from that which I have visited first... so it seems that once I unlocked the[ir] door, they feel they can return the visit.
  25. Vegan

We get all of ours from china but I'd probably look at ebay or amazon as those sellers can't really sell bad stuff or else they are done with that place.
