  1. question

This is wonderful put and insightful. Modding is not for everyone. I've had several decline... and I still hear them laughing today at the idea to put yourself up with a target on their back. Flo came back for a second tour from a first one which was not so pleasant... and to borrow from Trunk, it was brave to test these waters again. And I wanted it as I felt it would actually work out and be good for Flo to see that second chances can work out... and it has... until one feels the target shooting going on...
  2. question

I sometimes clean my house too The cleanup was mostly [supposed to be for ] for posts with no content. So, nothing to split. I also notice the last many months have been quite an agitated state among posters... people calling other people out... the tech area has tons of closed posts... never seems like that was the case so much before... oh well.
  3. question

You posted this thread twice ... maybe didn't even know it... As irony will have it, I deleted the duplicate We did do a forum clean up starting about six months ago... folks were editing out posts and leaving "..." all over the place like bread crumbs. In one example, myself: I deleted about 60 posts in ONE buddhist thread as it was a war zone of edited out posts... now it reads smoother.
  4. ~~~ ADMIN MESSAGE ~~~ Here is my final decision after reviewing the thread and the reasons for the request for taking it off-line: It will remain hidden. Any attempt to split it up, edit it (which I am generally against editing anyone else's posts without permission), will make it unintelligible and it will still remain rather personally directed at someone who asked for help. TDB is a place where folks not just ask for help but do get help... and that has happened in this case. But along the road of getting good answers, the intentions of posting such personal issues suddenly becomes akin to a trigger point too... The public nature of the thread can now trigger in unexpected ways. I've seen this in previous requests to hide certain posts and I don't doubt that will drive future requests of a similar nature. This is all my opinion based on the consistency of why these kinds of posts get requested by an OP to be hidden. It is healthier and helps the healing to get it removed. That being said, the members who responded helped in this and I do understand the desire for such topics to remain viewable. In this case, the needs of the many are mostly having some angst over it, while the one in need, needs it gone. I have to side with the one originally in need. That has been my consistent approach and will be when the next person makes such a request which I deem is appropriate to extend.

I think in Laozi, I would say the equivalent is: Embrace the One; Hold the Center. In Zhuangzi, I would say the equivalent is to get beyond 'this or that'; there can be nothing upon which one 'depends' on something. Stevenson mentions the difference "between physical flight that rides on physical wind and metaphysical flight which needs no wind:" Source: The Question of the Wind in Zhuangzi
  6. not sure about the limit... I want to look at the settings.
  7. The request came in the normal manner as any member might request. I reviewed it and decided as the OP wanted to have the issue taken 'off-line', I agreed. The OP got the response they wanted and wants to move on without this a public display. As I said: I've done this for regular members too... it is done on a case by case basis. Folks are not going to see all the requested reasons for the removal as I consider that part of the communication which is private.
  8. We accept OPs requests to discontinue or hide a thread when it is of a highly personal nature. I have done this for regular members and I gave the 'ok' for this one. I hope members can respect the need for privacy more than the need for public display to remain intact.
  9. Pre-Heaven Qi, lost forever?

No-Yes-No I think it is mixing up material body questions with light body ideas on some level... although there is no separation. Pre- and Post- are our perception of these energies... as separate... but they are linked and connected. I would more likely liken it to the car lights don't shine as much... you need to clean them to get a better shine... but the filament burns due to resistance and it will wear out. You'll need to discharge it at some point. Part of the problem is that the body can only contain so much light energy... it has a resistance. If you cultivate to the light body too far, you'll not want this body to hold that anyways...
  10. I mentioned 're-direct' somewhere... so it will get transferred over for now.
  11. Mine has changed... maybe clear cache, cookies, etc.
  12. because that is Hanyu pinyin... Dao is in the fourth tone. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daoism%E2%80%93Taoism_romanization_issue
  13. I am a pedantic one for using Dao instead of Tao... but the original wording did works it way into my heart When our business website changed names, there are redirection methods which can be employed for quite a while... I suspect members will be over it before google
  14. Discuss Truth Forum

The link is missing an "s"... it tries to link to: discustruth.com (only one "s").
  15. A Daoist Wood Goat!

I thought the same thing.... and then remembered that Qing is a color which doubles as Green and Blue, depending context... Wiki explains it as: Although Chinese now has a separate word for "blue" (蓝), it traditionally grouped most shades of blue together with green under the name 青 (qing), whose character derives from the idea of sprouting plant life. This color corresponds to the Chinese element of wood (i.e., vegetative life), represents nature and renewal, and often indicates spring. The color implies vigor and vitality.
  16. New Logo For TTBs

Changes are completely final Typo: I meant to say are NOT completely final
  17. Chapter 1

Two becomes One.... One becomes Zero... Zero becomes ??? Ultimately, in the manifest world, we can only grasp duality... The mind is a part of universal consciousness and can meld with One. The subconscious can meld with Zero. The real question is, what do you meld with after that?
  18. Chapter 1

From the eyes of the manifest.... we can see duality. From the eyes of Dao... we can see singularity.
  19. A Daoist Wood Goat!

first word that came to mind was 'majestic'... Then I had a question: I wondered if the Goat ate the banner (Tao) and caused Sean additional work to fix that (Dao) TheDaoBums
  20. Chapter 1

One could loosely call this the duality of Dao... that may see an odd idea as Dao is beyond duality but it is simply from our perspective that we see and assign this. And once this settles in.... go to Chapter 2 where Wu and Yu are used more as a duality in relation to each other, not Dao
  21. Chapter 1

The Ten Thousand is a part of the unfolding universe which we perceive with our senses. This is our local mind understanding of 'things'. I could talk beyond the "mind" but i want to let you take this in first... Dao is the Way it unfolds... Your car has a process by which it works. That is the "Way" your car works. Dao is the Way life unfolds, arises, returns. Dao is THE PROCESS. It is a singularity which produces multiplicity. Wu and Yu are complimentary comparative.... Unity (One) vs Duality (two). Yu is life as we see it...
  22. .

I've come to see that the spirits offer varied help... and so the more the merrier
  23. Chapter 1

IMO, the simplest idea, as we're going to compare it to Yu, is: Unity Compared to Wu: Duality. Ergo, the arising of the 10,000. It is not the mother but the children. I think our universe of perceptions is good. If we allow for parallel universes or other dimensions... I think we should stick to the idea that the 10,000 is within our 'sense' boundaries.
