I know this came up previously and I basically said 'no' at that time. I let it linger for today but came up with the same feeling and even stronger on some level. As the board is 99% male posting, the entire board tends to be about male cultivation issues. And we have areas for Taoist vs Buddhist, etc. And I can't see creating a space to house all the semen problems people want to come ask about. If they are having a problem, it is already too late for such a forum as this. And if they came asking about advise, it is: "Go get a teacher". IMO, I don't think TTB should create an attraction to such a topic and dedicate an area to it. There is a Healing Circle which could serve as an area for 'issues' as well. I'm going to lock this as the final decision for now.

I think this is ch. 66 just for reference... I am not bothered by the absence or presence of a character here or there, but I follow your point and appreciate the analysis. It seems for ch. 2, whether the lines refer to the Sage or Ten Thousand? Which is maybe a moot point as the Sage has 'attained Dao', as Zhuangzi likes to say.

Chinese equivalent tends to just use phonetic approximation. Creighton is: 克赖顿 - Ke Lai Dun You could choose something else which is equivalent to the meaning of 'by the creek' but it would never get back to meaning Creighton.

True but I think it served more as a affirmation of his own ideas; his first paper did relate the chinese origins of binary in the I Ching.

Agree... it seems more likely to be 支 This probably comes from the 寘 as used by the Bei Da manuscript. Starting with Heshang Gong, 鎮 is used. Both has similar meaning to quell. Tranquil seems to come from 靜 which comes from the MWD-B and Bei Da manuscripts. Fu Yi used 靖. Agreed again

Reality and Illusion are not-Two, Not-One; they are simply NOT... or maybe better said as fully negating each other: - The reality of an illusion (Yang found within Yin) - The illusion of a reality (Yin found within Yang) Yin and Yang are our combined illusion-reality spectrum. IMHO, if I have to state what comes first, it is illusion/Yin... as no one is there... but it is the process of potential emergence... so-called reality/Yang come next as people claim it as something is there... it is the process of physical arising... I am guessing that you ask this based on the DDJ chapter 66 where some translate the opening line with 'valley streams'? The oldest text, the Guodian Bamboo, has in Line 1 浴 (Yu) instead of 谷 (Gu). From a pictorial point of view, this seems to support the idea of streams flowing down the mountain into the valley. Seal example of Yu: Seal example of Gu:

I think that may be Stage 1... a quasi-step in the direction of detachment... but ultimately we need to detach from our own idea, language, thought, mind, etc. It is a 'step back' in our minds; what we need is a step back from our minds. Once we let go of our senses we find there is another, deeper sense which can arise. Some call it an inner sense but it may as well be called the Dao-sense... or it is really De. At some point, the dots all combine and merge and there is just one dot which seems so big it makes up all things... and yet, that is but a Stage... The One Dot still waits for us to 'step back'. Whatever we see is yet waiting for us to step back.

Life is just a continuum, and I'll leave out the concept of 'time' but being perpetually now seems to be what the sense are in. Maybe you've talked about this in the past but I would be interested (here or in another thread) to see this explained more.

There is great simplicity to behold here... life seems complex and yet we can find simplicity in our way. I drive my step-daughter to/fro the university each day... but she gets there early and gets picked up later than necessary for a simple reason... Once this small dot is connected to another point, others will reveal themselves... and it is dots everywhere waiting to be connected. After some time, it is just a picture; a flower, a cloud, or the fullness of emptiness itself.

I am not sure the english word Saint will come close to meanings of 'immortal' as used in various ancient text. I will just add that it probably has a connection to shamanism and Wu (毉-reduced into 巫) and True man (眞-reduced into 真) BTW: I think it should stay here as it will get better attention and maybe more talk about ancient texts or characters. -

He makes no claim over his manner of actions/deeds The success/accomplishment [of the arising] is not what he dwells on; it is not his success to ponder, but only to dwell with Dao. Not to dwell [on the ten thousand's achievements] is to not leave [Dao]. Inseparability of the Sage and Dao That's my thoughts...

Can you find out the version of that one? I have talked to Sean about doing an upgrade as we are a few versions beyond. There is a major upgrade available but I suspect that will not be performed due to the time needed. But if the feature is in one of the smaller revision upgrades, then it could be available. -

I guess I need to say that this is not a staff comment but member-wise... "The swing and a miss"... is within your mind. There is no swing nor miss. The website rules are pushed into all of our minds. No Swing, no miss.

CT's comment on "group behavior" and Stosh's comment of "to get some input as to how the community feels about the changes already made or proposed" is where this is. TTB is not a singular attitude. It is an open and diverse forum. There are limits but we would like members to exercise those limits just as if they walk into a store, or an airport. Don't verbally say something which will cause security to take notice

Exactly! I came to the similar conclusion in my idea of Dao as 'ever changing'... It is not really Dao changing but the arising of life and existence changes and endures.
