Yes... because another flaw in your M.O. is that you like the last word... so I knew you would be back to continue the idiotic manner of communicating. Hope your enjoying your attention. You've earned it.

eggzachary... ??? ...!!! Maybe we could call this the 'King of Chi' typing method... get it... ???

I see your games going on. Some of them you intentionally continue, like meaninglessly typing exclamation and question marks in triplicate; these are emotional markers for typing; these are not normal. You have been told more than once but want to continue this way of typing to set yourself apart. I know you like this kind of attention; You came here for it.

First you belittle LZ in two posts and then later in the same day use him as your poster child to support your ideas because 'it came out from another native'? That's quite good manipulation skills. What you fail to see is that you use the same ploy in the past: To say you have the singular correct way and everyone else is wrong (and that it is because the westerner's have it wrong). At least LZ has come around to modify what he means and answers questions asked of him. His admits his english is lacking but at least he is not trying to create two sides and then playing a game of pandering to both sides. Time yet again to call BS on what your doing on this site with your games.

I don't apply the concept of emotions to Dao.
-
I see the concept which we call Dao as a non-entity and is related to the concepts of Yin and Yang as a part of the energetic and manifest world. I do not ascribe Yin and Yang to the undivided, non-entity concept which I would call Dao. IMO, as long as you see yourself as Yin or Yang (or any combination), your still struggling in the manifest world.
-
Yeah, I have experienced my Yin side many times. I used to think that I had a little gay blood in me. Hehehe. Are you changing your name to 'fruitcake' now? I don't need to go gay to experience Tao... YMMV. Have fun with your new found 'buddy'.
-
I think this confuses non-entity Dao with the manifest world; Dao is made to be 'something' in such a description. I personally don't see Dao as the undivided unity but the process part of it.

Can someone tell me the names of Qigong masters in America?

He already answered you in the other thread where you asked: -
Can someone tell me the names of Qigong masters in America?

Yes, of course. My point was to get to LZ's meaning. My Qigong master told me the story of walking into a restaurant in Asian somewhere and the boss came out and greeted him as a master, although his attire revealed nothing of the sort... Some people can 'know' or 'feel' it. That is a part of developing our awareness. I have meet a few people who consider themselves Qigong masters but I feel nothing from their presence. -

Yes, that I agree with. Thanks. -
Qi Gong, lots of people are using it to deceive
dawei replied to Lao Tzu's topic in Daoist Discussion
My chinese wife candidly states she does not 'trust Qigong'... which makes for an interesting relationship There are historical reasons but far fewer personal reasons. Despite that, I have tested her Qi sensitivity and found that she is incredibly sensitive to Qi and 'open' in ways that I am not. That I can affect her Qi, she does not deny. That Qi is everywhere and in everything she does not deny... so what exactly does she not trust or deny? That Qigong became a proving ground for the Qi naive to be exploited. This is a valid issue and may be what LZ would like to suggest for the thread. I will relate this story, although I don't want this to be interpreted as a bash; it's just a story. When Fulan Gong became popular in China it was welcomed by the government and then later banned due to the ability to assembly in mass and maybe the supposed threat it *could* pose when a single man (art) can lead a million. One of my wife's 'aunt' was strongly into the movement and my wife resisted saying she wanted to read the information for herself. After reading it, she decided that the leader(s) were asking people to simply 'believe' and do the practices; that they said there was no need for proof since they would experience the proof; and the later claims of immortality would certainly require stepping forward in this mindset. This was the issue she had; someone telling her to not think for herself but to accept the claims with later proof to come. This was not the way to reach a more intellectual person. It does not mean that people require proof nor that they require a genuine sage or immortal; but simply that IF one is going to make claims then there should be more than a book to show for it. -

I am not disagreeing with you guys... but LZ is not explaining himself enough in many cases. I am looking to get more out of his explanation of "to not die" when he shows that there is a reason we die. -
I have studied under two Qigong masters. One is in the Jerry Johnson program that some know about here. But there is the story of the technique called the "Flying Dragon" when doing Medical Qigong on another; That one has to 'lock the wrist' to prevent Qi infiltration from the patient to the practitioner. The reason Jerry instituted the 'lock' was because he found in his experience and then also in clinical setting that Qi appears to be able to manifest an intention. I might say this is what Chidragon mentions as 走火入魔(run fire enter the devil), or 'possessed by the devil'; in this case, it would mean, a 'dispersion of maleficent Qi'. Later when I used the technique I had the issue arise when I forget to perform the 'lock'. The other person's Qi knew this somehow. Or you just did not have proper instruction or guidance. It is not necessary to make it so black and white to require 'an immortal' to teach you the correct method... but I am not going to argue too strongly since I understand your point. There is something about this I do agree with and found to work against itself. I agree... but since we interact with the three realms of spirit, energy and physical we are something beyond it all.

I don't believe the meaning of immortal is that one's physical body does not die; otherwise we would see these immortals walking around today. -

I don't like this way of saying it because both creation and destruction can be natural. maybe if you said, leads to premature death (or an earlier death) I might agree more but death itself is natural... we're simply on the return trip. -

I prefer to state it as we are always 'connected' but not always at 'full capacity' (or potential). Like a circuit which has resistance, we present varying degrees of resistance internally and externally. -
I like how you have clearly stated your point here. If you had started the thread with the above, I think it would of been received much better than stating meditation is the wrong way. Thanks for not completely leaving.

Thanks for sharing that. I will admit I am getting more and more turned off by translators... Although that is how Jwing-Ming essentially interprets the chapter: "The Shen resides at the space between the two hemispheres of the brain. This space acts as a valley between mountains, which is able to trap energy and generate resonant vibrations in the valley, that correspond with the energy outside the valley..." There is more but one can look at his Embryonic Breathing book.

You write like you had an epiphany, like suddenly understanding NOW... I wanted to know what trigger it just at this moment; what was it about this very exchange at this time which caused you to know? if you don't want to discuss it, that's fine.
-
Exactly... it doesn't matter if he wrote it or not... just as it does not matter whether or not LaoZi actually wrote the DDJ.

1. Your not explaining how you handle 'Gu'... are you treating GuShen as a compound meaning for Spirit or just leaving it aside as not necessary to translate? 2. I like how Dr. Yang, Ywing-Ming handles this: Yuan is original and Pin is female/mother , so the origin of life; another concept for Dao. He also says that XuanPin is Taiji in the YiJing (Book of Change). 3. Root of the world: I see them all related too. Same as root of XuanPin ; root of the Spirit; thus, root of Dao. To unite with XuanPin is to unite with the Spirit is to unite with Dao.
-
Although 'Pin' means female animal (and often used as mother) to support a feminine picture... but I'll not try to support the argument.
-
Are you offering up another book for possible translation? Here is an interesting translation by Livia Kohn: http://silkqin.com/02qnpu/27sjts/sj03qjj.htm

The TTC usage is based on an out-dated notation called "Wade-Giles". This is replaced by the more often used Pinyin... but some Wades-Giles notation still gets used by some. I almost always prefer to use Pinyin since it will be more recognizable by chinese. Here is a reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wade%E2%80%93Giles
