curious topic. myself, I jumped to the idea of the MDT as that is where unprocessed (3rd chakra) and processed emotions (4th charka) reside. I'd maybe sit and reside and see what connects. which organ or chakra? That will likely not be the complete answer. As I type this, left side of my 3rd is getting tweaked. Direct realization is helpful. So sitting and residing may help that.

There is a primitive version, a sage-king version, an ancient daoist embryonic breathing version, an ancient daoist version of spirits, a three teachings version, Ming Xing version , Then individual version like Mantak Chia, John Chang... Is that clear enough ?- 163 replies

There is a simple comparison: Obama 2008 Campaign violation fine due to $1.8 billion... one of the high civil fines assessed of $375,000 Biden 2008 Campaign violation fine due to $2 million. Required to pay civil fines of $219,000 Trump 2016 pays hush money of $130,000... Screams that this is criminal and requires jail time.

There is a thread created by Sean with some explanation on what kind of posting is expected or not: https://www.thedaobums.com/topic/27237-moderation-transparency-2013/ The rules are pretty clear as to posts directed towards members or outside groups but not to just any individual out there. I reached out to Sean recently to ask how he would of handled constant venting and rants on an almost daily basis towards someone who may not even be a member. We agreed that such cases fall under a kind of personal spam and simply not constructive to the thread if actual members are affected by it; meaning, they felt they could not participate in discussion due to the rude or otherwise disrespectful expressions that occur on a non-stop basis. This seems to fall more under disrespectful than forbidden but the staff will handle it on a case by case basis; somethings may be hidden or moved vs somethings may just be a warning. So, the focus of staff review of such posts is how it affects the member's ability to participate in discussion and whether it is constructive and adheres as well as possible to the ideals set forth in rules. But repeating, venting, spamming the same basic message over and over will not be acceptable. Also, meaningless posts without regard to the topic may be hidden or moved as determined by the staff. The staff will not attempt to monitor the entire board so we do rely on members to use the 'Report' feature when it seems warranted. TDB Staff

When I was doing Qigong classes, usually they were 60-90 minutes, we would lay down for the last 15 minutes in a kind of meditative, empty state... I would usually be on the verge of completely falling asleep... except Qi would fly throughout the body. Looking back, it definitely pre-figured the sensation I got much later which were like Qi electrocutions, twice.

This seems potentially useful as it covers both sides of the argument: whether to stretch or strengthen. Good luck and update us

very cool idea... found it in the Admin panel -
Ah but the question itself sounds like a judgement Its a challenging topic because almost all the moving parts are subjective from the judgement to the target or issue being observed. Even if one tried to take a soft approach and simply said, "does it help the situation or person, or not?" Is still subjective. I don't think anyone stops judging till they die... If I say the food is cold that could still be considered a judgement , right ? My wife seems to have this unspoken rule that she can be judgmental but I can't. I guess I haven't earned my four gold stars from her yet

I only take from it that he might of recommended the Pit as he mentions he saw it there now. We didn't talk about pitting it. Up till I finally pitted it, I never thought to do that as I still held out some hope the thread could get restored to civil discussions. But the problem is a board-wide one, this is not about one member or one thread; anywhere this happens as I've described may have some action on some level. We agreed the the language aspect is not really the issue but how it affected the thread and members which it clearly had. So to recap, in the case of incessant postings (in this case months on end) that are not constructive, causing more discord than discussion and affecting the thread and members then we agreed that staff could treat that as spam. I've rarely seen this as it usually doesn't go longer than a few days but it has occurred. In most cases, the member stops or at least does after a warning. We had given three warnings. So why didn't staff just take some action ? We talked a while about what 'rule' is broken and the language aspect was a bit unclear if that is even to be handled or just the idea that one is disrupting the thread. I decided to reach out to Sean to get his input.

I sent him several excerpts from the Talk Trump thread giving examples of the posts in question. Maybe it didn't sink in.

Seems more like a US incessant need... I recall most of the presidents of the last 30 years calling for stronger border and wall.

Well, you certainly picked two interesting ones to start with. At this point, I don't have an opinion as it seems the courts will decide but I see the 9th circuit court being overruled at some point.

It's a interesting thread and posed question. My first reaction is, it is about being self-centered. Why? Well, what is the basis for any judgment except against our own thought ? But if we can forget self for a minute, 'judgment' can have some useful sides, but can be quite the opposite... culturally, we may have a subconscious knowledge of Matthew 7:1-2: “Do not judge, so that you will not be judged, since you will be judged in the same judgment that you make, and you will be measured by the same standard you apply.” It is not about, not judging but do you accept your judgement criteria for yourself as well? We each call balls and strikes as we see them. We look for how life can be better embraced. When our focus is on our self, that seems a kind of betterment. When our focus is on another, then that is judgment that likely should consider if that is betterment.

Never timed it... but 4 minutes on a dark roast seems rather strong. I might go about 2-3 minutes. You never said what you prefer for beans ? As an aside story... I may likely drink coffee because as a kid I still remember my mom drinking black coffee... we'd dunk our toast with butter into it. It was a wonderful treat. So a few weeks ago, my mom visited... and I told her how I make my coffee from dark roast and she was like, .... ok. I told her I'd pour out some early so it was not so strong.... remember, that generation thought Maxwell House was the bomb ! LOL As still her wont, black. She took a taste and almost yelled like she had drunk poison !!! She yelled a few curse words and said, "add some F&*!@ water !!! I tried for several days to tame down the coffee strength to her liking but I just can't match Maxwell House !

Very cool !!! I just bought a new one... but after buying a first one that didn't work ! The first one, when you poured out the coffee, the glass would slide out ! RETURN The current one works well. Has a kind of lock twist I have not seen on my past press. Why a french press ? Simple... Coffee machines pour the water through grinds and creates coffee....which is SO F'ing Weak !!! A french press allows you to let the coffee grounds seep in water so that you will stay awake for 3 days straight I am mostly Italian and French Roast

I once had a thing for words... due to a middle school english teacher. He would put a thick dictionary on his desk and ask any student to open to any page and ask him the definition. I never saw him speak wrong. But in College, I tried to apply weird words to composition assignments and teachers didn't like the metaphors I was forcing. I recall trying to use 'scatalogical' and got a stern warning. Likely a teacher who would not feel comfortable here !

Thanks Luke.... that kind of straight forward opinion bodes well. As to reports... they do accomplish something: they give staff a heads up as to what is bothering members. There is rarely silence on reports as we typically discuss them but I will say there is rarely action. Assholery... very curious noun that almost sounds like an adjective

I think a re-do is needed. Let's start fresh.... a fresh voice will help

most of your points are taken. but we may flow back to your points in a new thread where discussion can flow... I'd like to meet you there

That is a curious point... isn't it cultivating something though, yes ? That may be kind of unfair to harp on though... (I just noticed I used though in two sentences). I have a funny story about 'cultivation'... Having already done Qigong and Medical Qigong training, I had still never heard the word "cultivation". It was just practice this or that. So when on one particular website, I said I didn't understand the word "cultivation" and they laughed at me as trying to pull their chain... but I was serious. I didn't know its usage among practitioners. What I took from the exchange is that for some, labels are so important they will not let go of it. I get it now... but wu wei is more along the lines of cultivating without trying or labeling it.

This is part of the diverse Way Even the upheavals and disagreements and tumult... For this forum, staff evaluate to what degree are we allowing that natural [disagreeable] arising and when do we draw a line to the fundamentals (rules, civility, etc). I can tell you that I switch sides almost every day because I see everyone's point of view when they complain about their side being infringed on. Ultimately, there has to be a rooting to what makes sense for the forum. I appreciate your voice, and many others. My decisions are collective listening decisions, so I do thank every voice. This largely reflects my view. I recall when I first meet my wife and we were talking about weather, I said, "how can you accept the sun but not the rain or snow?" As you know very well, staff decisions are what they are based on our point of view of things beyond weather... and it is not always the ideal Way but it hopefully helps get us back to it. Thank you Zero ! Your voice is always a breath of fresh air (like RC) as you don't really accuse or label or demand... but state a common sense idea. I really like that. Keep it up even directed at the staff ! I get that idea... but above I talked about the Diverse Way... Zero has said it best. Everything is the Way. Thanks for sharing that thought as it is important to simply and sometimes just say what we think.

When Thelerner spoke his post, it just struck me as the most common sense thing to do: Pit it. The thread was really undefined and out of control. Folks can decide if they want to start a more defined policy based discussion. Thought about that. Wanted to see what happens and hoped folks would just stop on their own. We'll see. Yes, thanks Luke. They are now both Pitted.

I'd like to bump and come back to it after re-reading... thought others would like to see this.
