Mantak Chia's Inner Smile is but a footnote to how life should be lived

Wagner wrote a translation of the DDJ based on Wang Bi's notes ! He takes some pains to compare that to the Wang Bi received version and others. It has lots of english notes and chinese to show the WB notes. it's a rather incredible book part of a series of 3. I have two of them. I would not recommend it for just a unique translation but rather if one really wants to study the DDJ in depth.

We have to remember, Tao is an idea or thought or a black box for how things move. It is not a thing. So when Laozi put it together with 'things', it is more a cosmological sequence, IMO. So, Tao follows nothing; all follows, or all is a description of how Tao represents all things. This DDJ25 is incredibly difficult to truly translate as the four lines are completely parallel but the last line is to be understood differently from the previous three, unless there can be a parallel translation. The word here 'follows' is fa, which means law but maybe better meant as a pattern, or follows. I commented here: https://www.thedaobums.com/topic/17504-ttc-study-chapter-25-of-the-tao-teh-ching/?do=findComment&comment=245597 But I later said I really like how Dusty treated the lines: https://www.thedaobums.com/topic/17504-ttc-study-chapter-25-of-the-tao-teh-ching/?do=findComment&comment=589579

1. Dao is akin to emptiness. An empty mental concept of a non-mental state. Laws of nature are a part of dualistic mindset. The two are separate till they merge as One non-separation. 2. Kind of both/and. It is beyond our mind to describe till we find that space to describe it. If there is no separation, how can we not describe it? While we think within the space of descriptions, we cannot describe it. 3. Dao is the black box for form... so formless, or empty of mindfulness ideas... till one realizes: Form = Void 4. Dao allows everying to flow according to their own nature. So Dao is not influencing the outcome but can know the outcome. 5. Dao lets life unfold, as it wants.

Daoisopen ... forum is closed. I used to participate... as did Rene where I first meet her there, I think. I once had the Beida version till my computer crashed... and I lost about 300 pdfs on daoism... some Heshang Gong translations... I'm smiling since.

I hope this doesn't offend anyone but it has made me think over the last several months on this issue. If I, as a guy, decide I identify as a woman, who would I thereafter date ? If a woman, my identity is lesbian but my practice is still heterosexual. If a man, then I am gay. Gender identity problems seem to me to be tied to gender energy issues.

Some of Camus' works online: The Myth of Sisyphus The Stranger The Plague The Fall The Possessed Resistance, Rebellion and Death
-
Whether he knew of Daoism or not, he reflects some of that dualistic thought... as in The Myth of Sisyphus: At the heart of all beauty lies something inhuman There is no sun without shadow, and it is essential to know the night Happiness and the absurd are two sons of the same earth. They are inseparable What is called a reason for living is also an excellent reason for dying

or: Form = Void

If Dao is perfection [formless] then humanity is imperfection [form]. As LZ said, formless begets form.

I'm using Robinhood.com, no fees to trade, but to day trade you need $25,000 in the account. It is not a good analytic tool, so investing.com is better to review the stock, or Bloomberg, etc. If one is doing day trading, you have to consider when an earnings report is before or after market, and when to jump in. I can't yet say whether it is more art or science but I'm studying the data. I will say my wife has a better instinct so far but on chinese stocks in the US markets. she know chinese stocks in chinese markets but seems to have transferred the idea to US markets. So far, she likes to invest in chinese stocks in US market and does well. I have found many useful stocks, day by day but hesitation is my enemy. So trying to learn from it. But I review that earnings calendar and pick a few to watch each day. I am kicking myself in the ass on a few, both positive and negative results.... Learn and learn... Next week is black friday.... retail...

Here is an earnings calendar that show before and after market reports. I would not rely on that alone but there are news reports that should be researched to explain the situation. Even that is not completely useful. https://www.zacks.com/earnings/earnings-calendar

The problem is likely Buddhist intervention into the culture. I just prefer the saying: Confucian by day and Daoist by night.
