  1. [DDJ Meaning] Chapter 10

These lines are interesting to me: FH: Can you be like Heaven and play the role of the Woman? Understanding and being open to all things, are you able to do nothing and follow the flow? Ni at least mentions 'receptive'... but nobody else seems to convey the 'follow the flow' juxtaposed with doing nothing. To me, this is the core idea of this part: If you're receptive (open to receive), there will be a kind of connection established to the beyond that is like a signal or beacon of 'light unto my path' (PS 199:105). The other parts of the chapter reveal some key aspects: Oneness, detachment, etc. This reveals the 'primal virtue'. Xuan De has many translations: Dark, Mystic, etc Virtue. If it is a connection beyond, primal seems to highlight it.
  2. New Layout

I noticed that when coming back online, if there were 3 thanks to the same post, there is just one notification with all three names... in the past they showed three separate notifications. Seems they want less fanfare in one way but more notification in another.
  3. New Layout

Someone reported not seeing the new area. The permissions got crossed on shuffling some forum areas. The layout should look like this and if not, let us know: THE COURTYARD - Welcome - General Discussion - Daoist Discussion THE GARDEN - Nuwa - Grotto - Fuxi THE PAVILION - The Rabbit Hole - Off-Grid - Chaos THE TENT - Forum / Tech - Local meetups - PPD
  4. New Layout

Do you mean this comment I raised?
  5. New Layout

Although we do have fonts back, curious how you did it manually... Did you actually type the below out ? As you can see... it just shows the codes instead of rendering them.
  6. New Layout

A new top division was setup as THE TENT with: - Forum Tech Support - Local Meetups - PPD With just three sub-areas inside each top Division you can choose to collapse a division from view without affecting too many of the forum areas. My guess is some will occasionally collapse this, particularly on smaller devices.
  7. New Layout

Nice change for smaller devices. Also, we've moved the PPDs to the bottom of the Pavilion so not so much scrolling is needed on small devices.
  8. New Layout

I don't get it... but if you can explain here or in PM. Thanks.
  9. New Layout

I guess you do miss chat That's kind of cool... had to find the filter for 'day'
  10. New Layout

I know everyone can see we're doing the small tweaks (aka executive orders quick changes) and not getting to something more meaty (aka healthcare and tax reform chat setup)... Chat is high on our radar list to get setup. We want to see stuff is stable, consistent and generally where it want it first... but Chat cometh soon Dae is the Lord Commander of the Chat Watch
  11. New Layout

Brilliant find... I wondered why the editors changed sizes for Posting vs Editing. I like the consistency of toolbar use, regardless of the device and posting/editing. Thank you.
  12. New Layout

Its now called 'Quote' on under posts to left. But what device, OS, and browser ?
  13. New Layout

Sorry about that... many fingers in the cookie jar... but most of them are mine We keep testing some stuff as they unexpectedly popup.
  14. New Layout

I'm at a loss why they got rid of validation and banned as not part of their theory of 'user groups' but I don't think they will bring it back. There is some interesting discussion at IP.B on how folks feel about it and it is rather split down the middle with 'privacy' vs 'permission' sides... the former just says to not make such 'branding' an issue (Dae)... and the other side said, 'let the staff decide permission sets'. An interesting middle ground might of been that there is a setting to say what groups can see them as banned or not... I think it is likely more helpful to staff then members to see this but I wanted the latter to have a voice. It would not be any additional work going forward if we created a group, but the issue is all the past banned members have to be moved. We would not have to use the word 'banned', as was suggested. SUDDEN REALIZATION... we can't create a group, of any name, and apply that group to someone... because once someone is banned, we can't touch their profile The restrictions and changes on the software is mind boggling.... Cases seems closed for now
  15. New Layout

Welcome comments on this: The new overhaul version of IPS4 re-theorized what it means to be a user group... and as a result, they got rid of 'validation' and 'banned'. The former is more a problem we had to scramble to fix so folks can register.... and we're good now. The latter, banned, means that NOBODY, not even staff knows from the front-end who is banned. If you go find any banned member or their profile, you cannot know they are banned. The only solution really seems to be for us to create a new group and move folks there manually whereas the previous software did it all automatically. Do folks care that they cannot see someone as 'banned' ? I guess don't just think historical...will it matter going forward.
  16. New Layout

You have to go to the full list... then filter by logged in. Then you can see it. Seems bothersome change but we're seeing they removed about 30% of the previous features. I think we'll want to get rid of showing guest as it is meaningless when one bot is counted 100 times because they looked at 100 pages.
  17. New Layout

I think it is a theme issues... that block just wasn't setup... so looking into "Who's Online"
  18. New Layout

Yes... of the myriad small things missing, I'm surprised they don't have this setting anymore. I've been collecting potential plug-ins and did find at least two that we'll evaluate regarding whose online, but ultimately would need to get Sean to approve. As to chat, same feeling... but I did find a free plug-in and one paid version which is a one time fee.
  19. New Layout

    4. Moved NewComer Corner to be a sub-forum of Welcome We may look into using more width, which would have to go through Sean. We're trying to get the board a little leaner in terms of scrolling through, so many of the forum descriptions were shortened as well with the mergings. There is a feature to have widgets to the right but we would definitely want to go wider. Here is what IPS4 itself looks like at 100% width and widgets: https://invisionpower.com/forums/ We're looked into plug-ins to fill some gaps that we're missing or have been requested (Chat, ignore topics, emoticons, etc), but we'll focus a few weeks on the core software to get its performance and use as stable as possible. thanks for all the comments... and feel free to continue to use this to make us aware of forum software issues.
  20. New Layout

No change for Create vs Edit... I know the default is set because my toolbar went to two lines again. Going back to modern view.
  21. New Layout

I see a reduction even at my level on a computer... Creating New vs Editing. I'm had changed the toolbar to the more modern look but wonder if it has other side effects. I'm going back to the default and we'll see what happens. Because I have so many icons as part of my group, the default wraps them to two lines.
  22. New Layout

Editor Comment: I like keyboard shortcuts but seems one of my favorite is gone... to highlight text and then Ctrl-L to embed a URL. Now, highlight the text, click the Link Button
  23. Zhuang zi translations recommendations

I think two items: Clarity and faithful to the original. Not saying it is the best but so far, I have found in comparisons I keep going to it to understand the other translators.
  24. Useful or Useless?

Also consider that the Jesuits were actually working within the chinese court... it is an interesting period to read about. How would they of choosen to translate ่–ไบบ ? IMO, Saint carries too much of a religious slang. Sage seems better to me. Reflections on the Jesuit Mission to China - Harvard University
  25. New Layout

Just fixed that. Thanks for reporting it.
