  1. New Layout

There is a feature to 'add emoticons'. I tested it and it was straightforward to do... but they have to be the right size and transparent background. I didn't find any as small and clear as the base set but if anyone knows where to get some, let us know.
  2. New Layout

There are some neat new things but some seem a bit intrusive towards keeping our privacy. I'm glad folks have chimed in regarding their observation and feelings and we welcome for more comments. The one to 'ignore a topic' is actually very good... even to ignore a sub-forum. We'll have to see if IP.B goes that route of individual control as the Activity stuff seems to be in that vein.
  3. New Layout

Yes, stuff changed to default and/or just changed from our previous version setup. Just found another regarding registration approval methods so MH can do it the old way. Thanks to Dae and MH for our testing, changing settings, chatting, testing, etc.
  4. Blessed Be!

Welcome ! And apologies for the new software changes that we're still finding some 'features' have changed
  5. New Layout

I think it is an interesting feature... one could go to a person's profile (or hover over their name) and pick 'find content' anyways. What I liked about that was you could then also pick posts vs Threads they started. I often recall someone starting a thread but can't find it. So there was always a way to find someone's posts, this just makes it easier. Although I'm not sure I would ever use it
  6. New Layout

There was a glitch in permissions in Welcome... as there were no new posts there. We're back to welcoming folks Marblehead... it's all yours now
  7. "Settings" access

That's just a heading for what is below it
  8. New Layout

I wanted to thank the staff for Day 1 attention... we were busy in group PM trying to resolve issues most of the day. I got so many emails and notifications I just turned it all off Welcome to the next software phase of TDB

It appears there is a back-end setting by staff on member's profiles. A switch to say if others can follow them. Logic would dictate this should really be a member decision It seems that allowed to follow you is set by default to Yes. So everyone can start to follow Marblehead Your's is set to NO... But there must be a secret admirer who changed that default setting
  10. New Layout

RE: What can guests see on a profile... have a look yourself before logging in So as Dae shared there are only a few controls but we can turn the following off and they are set as to not display. 1. Interests 2. Location 3. Gender 4. DOB That is as far as we can take it and I think we'll have to settle with that. Dae raised the idea (in PM) that what is left is really just akin to searching a member's posts. @Rene... don't make me send you a computer so you can get past your issues

The streaming seems rather cool. I know you wrote stuff up... maybe we should do some screen shots to show examples. I think I understand they are just custom built 'views' of content, in a sense.
  12. New Layout

IP.Board dropped it We're looking at Commetchat: https://www.cometchat.com/ or https://www.cometchat.com/ipb-chat which has a one time fee.
  13. New Layout

That's a decent backup method. They should of put 'follow' along with the popup of: Message, Ignore, Content
  14. New Layout

I am inclined to just remove it from the main menu. The last version had it too but called it 'moderators'. They changed the name but left the same functionality of any 'mod' powers makes you 'staff'. They do the same in the back end. Anyone with access to ACP is considered an 'administrator'. Despite they are not even in the Administrator Group...
  15. not sure yet

So I think Rene's concern is that others can know who she is following ? And we're trying to see if/where a switch is to stop folks from know who you are following? Can you see if you can find that? I don't yet.
  16. New Layout

I see you can follow a member within Activity. Did anyone else find a better way while within a thread?
  17. New Layout

Wait and see... wonder if there is a kind of 'flood control'... only allows certain number of clicks within certain number of seconds.
  18. New Layout

Someone reported: "After I successfully deleted a member from the ignored list, then when I tried to re-add, I got the message "You do not have permissions to ignore that user". As we have test accounts to play with, I would ask everyone with 'ignore' setup to wait to see our testing.
  19. New Layout

Speaking of 'ignore'.. someone reported it was not working. I've asked them to turn off then back on one member to see what happens.
  20. New Layout

ok.... seems to be working now, yes ? Just need to confirm because I have higher permissions than members. I simply toggled the group setting off and then back on.
  21. New Layout

I went to the IPS4 community and they are showing the names of who 'liked' a post at their site. I don't know if it has to do with our customizing away from 'Like" to "Thank You". I used to be able to look at the code but that ability was removed.
  22. New Layout

Good question... removing those who 'thanked' seems another oddity. I can look into that one as I'm surprised about its removal. As to changes, I guess I need more specifics. But I can say there is fewer tools compared to before... but they may be trying to get folks to pay for plug-in(?) I knew they dropped chat but now noticed there is no subscription service too.
  23. New Layout

IP.Board doesn't support it any longer and given the issues we were having with SQL, etc, we just couldn't stay. We've actually looked at other software as we were aware about a year ago of several issues with this new version. We even passed along two security permission 'bugs' that nobody else had reported. Our use of the PPDs and mixing with staff permissions, and anarchist permissions all worked on the older version but doesn't mix and match anymore. But we felt if that if at least PPDs worked without mixing and matching permission sets, then we'd need a much more compelling case to change software.
  24. New Layout

If you think thinks look a little odd on the front end, the back end is completely different and missing about half the tools. Those they left take more work to effect than before. The 'staff' is anyone the software sees as a 'moderator'. As anyone with a PPD is a 'local moderator' they become 'staff'. The oddest change is they got rid of the 'banned' group I don't see any way on the front end that you can know someone is banned And they reverted them to a group that doesn't make sense... so I tried to put them in a group that makes more sense but was told I cannot use that email... as it is banned... so now I can't really touch a banned account unless I start deleting emails ? The previous version was a million times more efficient in the back end but the front end had run its reliability course.
