Very nice You raise something about the other side of the coin that even if text has some transmission it still takes one who is able to feel it, or better is naturally interacting with the energetic aspect. To me, this is an example of 'when the student is ready, the master will arrive'... but we should realize that it can include transmission via text or deities.

I'm thinking about those that talk of 'losing Dao' which some will say implies Losing the Way. I prefer to see duality as along a spectrum where might may find yourself on different points at different times, but the spectrum is singular.

A hot topic going to the SCOTUS is the Transgender issue. This seems fraught with complications and implications. Will the court fall to biology or gender association? If they expand out the scenario and see the domino effect it could have on any business, sports stadium, houses of worship, every small business, etc... not to mention spas or schools where showers exist... I can't see them going with gender association. Its a case where I can't see the one outnumbering the many.

And that makes sense as we would want them out of the country instead of being in a prison.

It is a flawed premise and question because you are only talking about a narrow timeframe in the history of Daoism, starting around maybe 1200. That is more like neo-modern Daoism when Buddhism and Confucianism was placed into the mix. By that time, there are lots of books but in times prior, there were few books. So the longer period of Daoism has fewer books so it would be misleading to base an argument on books and claim you talking the entire Traditional Daoism. You are only arguing that your system that relies in Xing and Ming and developed around 1200 onwards cannot be done without a true teacher. If you believe that, then I will agree. You need a true teacher. I can't speak for everyone in the world as some awaken without even a book or a teacher. Is a true teacher better than a book? I would generally agree. Is a book better than nothing? I would generally agree. Is a transmission from a book better than a true teacher? I would generally agree. Elsewhere we briefly discussed this and Awaken mentioned something I agree with: If your going to follow a path of methods and doing, a teacher is likely needed to get the proper handle. I would challenge anyone to read those who are claimed to have 'attained' the Dao from Fuxi up through the Celestial Masters and what do you see as the 'teaching moments' ? A simply Q&A with another; a spirit/deity visit; a book with transmission embedded. What we seemed to have lost over the millenia are books with transmission because we no longer have teachers who can transmit in that way.... teachers who cannot, setup schools to do teaching directly. That's my opinion.

Polling may claim that it is based on science but it is not without its inherent weakness that it can only be reflective of only those that actually took the poll... seems obvious enough but in this election year, the weakness was fully revealed. Another weakness may be that such polling is based more on the idea of a popular vote and thus was correct in another way. They were maybe polling the wrong locations too. You can go to many locations and likely guess the outcome. There were actually a handful of folks who were predicting Trump but nobody really stopped to understand why that was the case and test whether there was something amiss in traditional polling. Going forward, they should likely effect some changes in how they poll but then it would not be as random and thus likely to not really have any significant change.

I agree with this because tao is not a thing and thus cannot have a label about neutrality... although I know passages tried to describe it nonetheless.... Like a right way and a wrong way. They rely on dualistic thinking and labels. So porn has a right way and a wrong way... I think MS has practical advise on it use. Whether porn is good vs bad is just a dualist argument. My original thought was, are states being selective in what they choose to enforce and I think you're showing the authority of the fed govt to enforce recalcitrant states and it is generally in the state's best interest to row the federal boat of laws, else the US Marshals may come knocking at the door... I never would of guessed that it is the US Marshals would be the 'enforcer'. Can you share more on their role and/or why that is a part of their role? 2. Another related issue might be the marijuana issue whereby the govt is turning away and allowing state allowance (ergo, allowing states to reject a federal law). BTW: I think the feds should stay out of that altogether but its is on the books for now.
