Whenever I practice Gift of the Tao it gains the attention of the surrounding animals that live nearby. Rabbits have come close acting very curious, as well as hummingbirds and one robin that always drops by to check out the energy going on.

Heres a link I found to a very interesting video about cancer and the story of Dr. Burzynski, a medical doctor and biochemist who supposedly found a cure to cancer and has cured hundreds of people, however has been at constant battle with the FDA who relentlessly try to shut him down. My link

Hey Brooks, I definitely agree with you, there are countless issues with the way western medicine in conducted in our modern times. If people just lived a healthy life style, exercising, eating healthy, and possibly doing something like qigong or meditation, then they probably never would have gotten cancer in the first place. A friend of my mother's actually had terminal cancer and by changing her lifestyle choices and eating healthier it went into remission for several years, until she went back to her old eating habits and developed the cancer again. The body has all the tools to heal, we just need to treat the body better to prevent these dis-eases. This video I posted shows that within the scope of Western Medicine, even when someone has discovered a very effective natural cure to cancer, the media and big corporations try to mask it. The FDA has spent millions of dollars and even had a whole team devoted to shutting down this one doctor who found a cure. Basically this video provides even more evidence for how greedy and messed up our current human society can be. IMO, Qigong and other similar practices are desperately needed in our modern times to help people finally "grow up" and act from a higher level of consciousness.

If anyone is interested, here is a link My link to a chinese medicine school in Portland OR, which teaches exclusively what they term, "Classical Chinese Medicine". One would have to do research to find out more about it. If I was going to become a doctor in Oriental medicine, this would be one of the schools I would check out. Of course one could just spend less time and money and go through a legitimate medical qigong program and possibly get the same if not better healing results.

Chinese Taoist Medicine & Stillness-Movement Medical Qigong
surfingbudda replied to Ya Mu's topic in Group Studies
Hi everyone, I've been practicing Michael's Stillness-Movement system for just about a year now and would just like to add my own case study from last night. Roommate had been experiencing very uncomfortable shoulder pain, so last night I treated utilizing Medical Qigong as taught by Michael. I projected energy and pulled sick qi until I felt I had done enough. Patient reported feeling heat and "something" move around in his shoulder but couldn't find the words to describe it. Patient woke up this moring, no shoulder pain. I just felt like posting this to show that one does not need to be a master healer or need to treat advanced illnesses to make a difference. With Michael's system one can literally step out of the workshop and start treating people, even treating seemingly minor issues like shoulder pain can make a world of difference on the patient. -
Unfortunately so true, I always wish stillness-movement workshops would last forever. Of course due to the nature of the high level energetics we all experience at the workshop makes it seem like it lasts 10 times longer than it probably truly does

I can give some commentary as it just so happens this master was my first teacher . It was this exact clip actually that spurred my interest in checking out what the heck qigong was really about. It just so happened, that this Master Zhou as seen in the video had his office literally 2 blocks from my house, what are the chances of that! So immediately I scheduled lessons from him, super excited to enter the world of qigong. At the time I had no idea what to expect but with faith knew this was something I needed to do. To introduce me to his system he did a small two second "activation" of some acu-points and then taught be the first three moves to his beginner set of movements. So I went home and practiced...for the first few days I practiced with only faith but on the third day I felt the beginning of "something" new, something I had not been feeling. After several days I was no doubt feeling the movements stronger and boom I was introduced into the world of chi. So I learned with Master for a while, learning new moves to my set. However it just didn't feel to me the best way to be doing this. The movements continuously got more complex and harder to follow and got too lost in my mind trying to the movements just right rather than simply focusing on the energy. Also Master Zhuo speaks zero english so everything had taught had to be mediated through a translater, which made asking questions and getting clarification for the movements almost impossible. This was when I felt it was time to find a new teacher. So long story short I eventually came to my second qigong teacher, none other than Michael Lomax. After attending my first Stillness-Movement workshop I truly felt, "Now this is how qigong should be done", so simple yet so powerful. I won't go into detail here on my stillness-movement experiences as I have already done so several times throughout these forums. All I will say is that to me, there is simply no comparison between Stillness-Movement and the majority of other qigong forms out there. This is simply my opinion after much time spent surveying other forms of qigong before finally coming to stay with Stillness-Movement.

Hello Everyone, I have not been posting too much on this site recently but felt it would be a nice thing to check back and write my review of Michael Lomax's June Stillness-Movement workshop in Springfield Missouri. First off let me add that all the practitioners at the workshop were some of the nicest people I have ever met. Everyone there was so friendly and I hope to have the pleasure to meet up with some of them again some time in the future. I would also like to thank Michael for being so helpful and down to earth with his teachings. For my review I will do my best in describing my experiences but do to the nature of these types of events, I doubt I could ever fully portray what I experienced. Also the purpose of this review is not to outline the entire workshop in a linear manner (you'll just have to go to one and find out yourself if your interested), but to attempt to give others the feel of it and note some interesting events that I observed. The room for the workshop radiated with positive vibrations. Even before beginning the workshop I was fine just sitting there basking in the energetics of the place. Practicing Gift of the Tao was much fun! It felt like swimming through a warm hearty soup where the broth was qi . Or as Michael would put, "floating in a sea of light". Later we cranked things up a notch and started doing Gift of the Tao 2. The energy, power and tranquility I experienced behinds these forms have not been matched since. There were many moments of sheer joy practicing both forms of Gift of the Tao throughout the workshop. Many people at the workshop, myself included and still am, were amazed at the how these movements can be SO simple yet SO effective and powerful. If you simply watch someone else doing them you'll never be able to comprehend benefit behind these forms. Its about the doing part, not the thinking about doing or as Carlos Castenada puts it, "A man of knowledge lives by acting, not by thinking about acting. " Something I thought was very interested was that we started out doing warmup "body oriented qigong" such as eight brocades and some more quick forms from the knowledge banks of Michael and I noticed that I could not or barely at all feel the energy from these forms. Then Michael jokingly said now were gonna do some "real" qigong and we switched over to Gift of the Tao and like a flash I instantly felt a change and lots of energy began being felt all around me. To me that was instant validation for the efficiency of Michael's system versus others that I have experienced. The first day in which we did stillness movement Michael gave us all the projections. I felt different sensations around my body and almost felt like a wind was hitting me, I would still consider my personal energy sensitivity to be in its baby stages through, many people besides myself reported some very significant energy/spiritual experiences during the projection. After doing the sitting stillness-movement for around an hour through my whole body was vibrating with energy and I felt a supreme sense of peace within me. As far as I could tell I had no spontaneous movements that I could notice during the first sitting practice. After the workshop later that night I still felt full of peaceful vibrations and then something cool happened. I was just laying in bed reading when suddenly my whole vision lit up with bright white sparkles and lines, for a while before the workshop and a little during it I had been seeing occasionally a random white sparkle here or there, which Michael has told me means I am starting to see the qi. However that event after the workshop has definitely been the largest amount of qi I have ever seen . The next day was full of more magic. We started with some more gift of the tao to get the energetics going and then kicked off into standing stillness-movement. I found stilling the mind and focusing on the dantian was much easier today after taking in so much positive energy from the day before. After standing there for a while I felt someone running around the room and a vortex like sensation had been created. In fact I even saw a vortex of spiraling purples in my vision which was really cool. While this was happening I could feel my energy body going to town and having a blast while the energy of the room was being taken to a higher level. Michael describes the projections he does as energy based information and until you actually experience that your rational mind says, "sure man whatever you say". However While I was standing there I kept hearing a particular thought that kept telling me to just give into the universe and reside in my dantian, it was interesting because I had not initiated this thought yet it kept trying to get my attention. I thought ok I'll try it and virtually as soon as I followed the thoughts advice my feet began vibrating, then pretty soon the vibration went up my legs, and then suddenly my whole body was bouncing/shaking/ vibrating/wiggling/flowing. Spontaneous movement was happening all over the place which is at the same time very cool and very bizarre the first time you actually experience this. When Michael finally brought us out of stillness movement I truly felt like I was in higher state of being with energy vibrating all over the place. The third and final day of the workshop was the medical qigong part. This truly was a day of miracles as everyone who showed up had helped heal each other's injuries by at least 80 percent, many had their pains completely eliminated. This kind of healing really is unbelievable until you actually experience it for yourself. My partner treated me for my digestion problems I have been having. The treatment utilized both medical qigong and the Daoist medicine which were both very relaxing. What was very cool was that I could actually physically feel my digestive tract re-balancing itself after the treatment. Since then my bowel function has been much easier on me. The Daoist medicine really is something else and I felt such at peace with the world after receiving the treatment, it truly does put you into an altered state of being. I know my dad just about went to sleep after the treatments he received. I then went on to treat my partner for a broken toe he had received and had been having pain in the site of injury. I projected qi and pulled sick qi from the places Michael showed me to do and after only a 10-15 minute treatment my partner said that I had easily removed 80% of the pain he had been experiencing. Michael talked to us about low virtue and high virtue, where low virtue being regular everyday helping people out kinda stuff and high virtue when you actually give a part of yourself in helping someone and I know after doing the healing giving my own energy to the patient I felt a great surge of compassion that was quite emotional and if I could describe it would be a deep love and gratitude for being alive and part of this vast universe of ours. There you guys go, that was a small taste of what I could linearly portray of my experience in Springfield; there were of course many more magical events but it would be impossible to describe everything. If anyone is in the least bit intrigued or interested by this system I would definitely recommend checking it out. I am not saying all this because I'm on Michael Lomax's secret pay roll, I writing this because I sincerely believe in the power and energy behind this system. The system really speaks for itself. My qigong history includes practicing wild goose qigong for a bit and I trained with Master Jo for a few months My link, however IMO both pale in comparison to the depth of Michael's practice. I have never had more energy awareness and development than with the stillness movement practice. I practiced Michael's Gift of the Tao DVD for about four weeks before attending the workshop and even just doing that raised my energy more than any other system I had done. There was simply no comparison between the Gift of the Tao DVD with the other qigong DVD's I had lying around the house. I have been practicing each day for a week since the workshop and I have steadily noticed my own energy development increasing. I can only repeat the words "Sea of Light" to describe the utter joy and energy experiences I have felt with this practice. Anyone who would like to ask me anything feel free to PM me about the practice, but if anyone is interested in this practice I would recommend messaging Michael himself or seeking out some of the more advanced practitioners of this system from this forum. I plan on reporting back here after 100 days to describe where the practice has taken me Peace to all and good luck your practices, Surfingbudda

I'm just have a question pertaining to qigong masters and physical health. To me, reaching status of "qigong master" means one's body/mind/spirit has reached a state of harmony and balance. To me, the purpose of qigong or any healing energy art is to bring one's entire being into balance. Especially looking at Ya Mu's, "As Above As Below Law", it would seem that by bringing balance to the one's highest spirit level, intern that balance would trickle down to the layers of mind and body, or maybe it happens in the reverse( either way which works I guess ). My point to this is that I see being over weight as an obvious imbalance to the physical body level, yet we see acclaimed qigong masters, for example Bruce Franztis and I am sure others who seem to either neglect this aspect of health or place all emphasis on chi development. Isn't it the Taoist way to balance each part of the self and not to focus soley on any single part of it. I mean no disrespect to the teaching of Bruce Franztis or any other over weight qigong master for that matter. Perhaps my interpretation of health and chi is all wrong and true health comes soley through chi development and the view to keep the physical body in shape is a silly western misunderstanding? I am open to all comments and opinions on this Also with my personal experience with qigong, the deeper I delved into it, the more my tolerances to different bad habits was lowered so I was forced to either suffer or change my habits. For example a month into doing wudang qigong, I found I could no longer eat particularly unhealthy things like chili dogs because it would result in very bad trips to the bath room, as well as my tolerance to things like alcohol greatly diminished. My point here is that, at least from my experience, qigong either forces or pushes someone toward the path of eating healthier and overall treating the body better as one gets more in touch with it. So to see qigong masters being over weight simply does not make sense to me.

Stillness-Movement Neigong Review
surfingbudda replied to surfingbudda's topic in General Discussion
Hello Everyone, I have decided to write a followup review on my second Michael Lomax workshop as well as my experiences within the stillness-movement system. I believe today is my 77th day since my first stillness-movement workshop. I recently attended my second workshop in Terre Haute IN on the 20-22th of August. So far I have been very happy with my personal progress in Stillness-movement. As Michael says, "Somedays are better than others, thats the way it has always been". I find that to be very true as somedays when doing Gift of the Tao the Qi can feel as thick as carving butter and the stillness-movement can feel like a burning fire in my Dantian; while other days the Qi can be much more subtle and almost barely noticeable. I look at those days as almost a built in test to weed out the simple phenomenon seekers from the true warriors who have the patience and perseverance to keep pushing on with their heart. Overall though my personal energy development has been heading in a steady upward direction. The average qigong session when I first began this practice pales in comparison to what I am experiencing now. So while day to day may be very different, I'de say on a week to week basis there is a definite tangible improvement. I will now attempt describe the experience and impression I had on my second Stillness-movement workshop. For this workshop I had much more profound experience of it than my first workshop. Its not that each workshop is dramatically different from the previous one, but your own experience of it can change drastically as one's personal energy awareness increases. Its kinda like a beginner student new to the system may only actually perceive and take in maybe 1% of what really goes on at one of Michael's workshops. While a senior student would probably perceive a much larger spectrum of what Michael really does. I know personally I was able to perceive a bit more from the second workshop than the first as I will describe in this review. This is the reason why I think people continue going back to workshops, as each one exponentially expands upon the last. I remember asking one of Michael's senior students who had already graduated from his system why he still bothered attending every workshop he could make. He replied comically, "Graduation? What graduation, as far as I'm concerned Michael will always be a higher vibration than me so there will always be much more to learn and room for growth. Graduation happens when Michael dies", he said laughing. I thought that was interesting and admired his passion towards the never ending strive to learn. However on the other side of the coin I believe one could progress very far with just a single workshop. I remember the same senior student telling me a story about a a girl who had attended one of Michael's workshops in the past and then Michael never heard from her for several years. He said Michael just randomly met her again and she told him that one workshop had changed her life and she had kept up the practice, apparently Michael tested her and found she had some good power. Then for self growth and awareness, one really just needs to attend a single workshop. I think the people that come back are like myself and really feel a calling to the system and wish to learn the medical aspect. On the first day of the workshop I immediately noticed how much stronger I could feel the qigong movements than from the first workshop I had done, in fact doing Gift of the Tao then was perhaps the most powerful I have ever felt it. The Qi got so thick that was like moving through water almost, or perhaps it was like warping the space around me like playdoh lol. I remember doing this one move that Michael stated was particularly awesome. During that move I felt like I was experiencing the complete definition of Tranquility/Calmness/Peace/Power/Love/Ect... all wrapped into one truly awesome movement. In fact after doing it Michael jokingly asked us how many felt like we had just smoked a Joint because this movement had shifted so much energy that it truly expanded our awareness in a truly awesome way. You would just have to be there to experience it because reading about this will just create an abstract concept of what it could have felt like. I believe sometime after this exercise was when i first started to notice seeing Michael's energy field. I was just serenely staring at him without a worry on my mind when suddenly I began to see this bright yellow/golden outline around him. I thought this was interesting so I casually brought more of my awareness to it and as I did it seemed to grow and Michael's being seemed to get larger and larger as this golden energy field was expanding out from him and filling the room. At one point I closed my eyes and amazingly I found that I could still see him, my vision was black except for this golden silhouette of Michael that was following his movements. Although this may not be such an amazing feat for some people reading this, I personally thought this was very cool and a definite proof for me that I had been progressing in my practice and awareness. The only other person in the room whom I could easily see their energy field was one of Michael's senior students who also had a golden outline but not quite as strong as Michael's. Later we practice stillness-movement and received the energy transmission that Michael does. In the past I usually have some spontaneous movement, however this time I was moving nonstop every which way. In fact the movement was so intense it was keeping me from fully relaxing, until one point I completely calmed down and my body went limp. One of Michael's senior students said he and Michael had projected to me so that I my body could just relax and thats what it felt like, a wave of calmness just overtook me and my body and mind went limp. The projection was a subtle sensation that I couldn't quite explain but one thing I noticed was it felt like a weight had been lifted from my head afterwards. After the first day we all went to Umi Sushi where Chef Qi cooked us up some marvelous sushi treats for a great Japanese dinner . The second day was also a lot of fun. We all took turns visiting this tree to practice tree qigong. On the surface this tree appeared not much different from the rest of the trees around it but MAN did it have strong energy. I remember doing tree qigong the first workshop and I couldn't definitely feel the tree's energy although it was quite subtle, and have practice qigong with several trees around my house which has been a lot of fun, however that tree at this second workshop has by far been the most powerful tree I have ever felt. Its energy field was SO tangible. As we were walking to it I was about 30 feet away and suddenly felt like I hit a strong wall of vibrating energy which got strong the closer to it I got. I was surprised to so strongly feel it from so far away. This time I was also very easily able to feel the different layers of the tree's energy that Michael talks about. Later in the day we practiced rejuvenation qigong and did some more stillness-movement. The stillness-movement session was particularly interesting. As I was sitting there my body gave a great urge lay down so I allowed it to do so and i felt a lot more comfortable. To me, this session appeared rather uneventful and I felt I was having difficulty calming the mind. Next thing i know I feel this HUGE jolt on my Dantian, almost as if someone took a big tomtom and beat my Dantian once like a drum. I was at first actually quite confused, I remember thinking, "What the? Where am I? Why is it dark? What am I doing in this state of being?" I then realized what I was doing and had a vague recollection that something important had happened earlier in this meditation but I couldn't quite remember any of the details, almost like recalling a blurry dream. Pretty soon after that Michael brought us out of stillness-movement and I was still super disoriented. Michael said some kind of funny remark I didn't quite catch about if I was still with them and then one of Michael's senior students right next to me laughingly told me for the last 45 minutes or so I had been in a comatose like state with my eyes wide open and body hardly moving a muscle to even breath, he said that if someone came in on this workshop they most certainly would have called the paramedics on me lol. Hearing this dumbfounded me because I certainly felt like my eyes had been closed the entire time and what shocked me even more was that this qigong session had been nearly 2 hours and to me it seemed like an uneventful 15 minutes . There isn't too much to note about the third day of the workshop devoted to medical qigong besides the fact that everyone who participated did in fact heal their partner by remarkable degrees. I will though describe two interesting healing sessions that I have done since this last workshop. The first healing was actually done the day right after the workshop when I was visiting my family in Indianapolis. It came up that my uncle had pain in his elbows and fingers so I told him what I learned at this workshop and said maybe I could help. He agreed and I worked a little bit on him, after he said he could feel something happening in those areas. What was interesting though was that while I was working on him, his wife right next to him said that she could feel all this tingling on the back of her neck and shoulders where she is usually sore. So I said maybe I could help and I began treating her, she said that she could feel all this energy flowing from her neck down her body and out her foot. The next day she wrote to me and said the pain in her neck was much better which I thought was cool, I never heard back from my uncle. The second healing I did a few days ago on my grandma. She's had this terrible pain in her shoulders for over a year now and has very little mobility in her arms. A week before I treated her she got a steroid shot at the hospital for the pain which didn't do anything and she said due to the pain she was unable to do the stretching exercises that her doctor prescribed. Before I treated her she told me that on a scale from 1-10 her pain was at a 8 or 9. So I treated her for a solid 15 minutes utilizing the medical qigong techniques I knew and giving her quite a bit of Energy. Afterwards she hugged me with a smile on her face and said she felt great. She said that her pain was now down to 0 and I had 100% gotten rid of it! Now thats pretty cool for only having been seriously practicing qigong for less than three months. She called the next day and said that for the first time in a while she had slept very good. I certainly feel I have made a big difference in her life and am proud to have been able to help her. From what I have seen these medical qigong methods work and are truly remarkable. I can't tell you how awesome a feeling it is to be able to truly help make a difference for someone I hope my experiences have not bored anyone . I wrote these accounts to pay my respect to the stillness-movement practice and voice my opinion of what it can accomplish. I can say that after this second workshop I have felt a considerate boost to my energy level and practice. Before this workshop I had could not feel too going on in my Dantian area, but now I can feel a tangible heat and pulsing everytime I put my hands there which can get pretty hot when I'm deep in the stillness-movement. My friend asked me the other day what has been the single biggest benefit from doing this practice and I had to think about that because it works on so many aspects and levels of one's life. After giving it some thought, I will have to agree with Michael that the biggest thing for me is empowerment, I truly feel a deep inner strength at my heart after doing these practices that was not present when I first started this system. I wish everyone good luck on your own personal journeys, whether that path be stillness-movement or not I wish you the best. Peace, SurfingBudda -
Hi Everyone, This thread is directed to those who will be attending Michael Lomax's Stillness-Movement workshop in Terre Haute Indiana this August. Currently I will be flying into Indianapolis at approximately 4:45 Pm on Friday the 19th and am wondering if I could carpool with any other practitioner attending the workshop going Terre Haute, I would be more than happy to help pay for gas . Also I'm trying to keep the cost down of the workshop to a minimum and am wondering if anyone would interested in rooming together and splitting the cost? Looking forward to seeing everyone at the workshop. Light, Ben
