What is racism? If I post a rap video by "N.W.A" is that posting racism? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N.W.A I would not be opposed to a suspension because someone used hate speech against homosexuals. I just personally haven't seen it to the point I ever felt a need to call someone out. I would also say that, even if I think something is horrible, I wouldn't necessarily call for it to be modded. Do you think Tao Bums makes any difference in the grand scheme of things? Are you also going to go to every discussion forum on the internet and crusade against all homophobes? Maybe that would be a good idea! If we are concerned about society or the public opinion, we should be on reddit and hundreds of other sites pushing agendas. I don't expect others to ever help me and I always take responsibility for promoting ideas I like and attacking ideas I don't like when they affect me. Perhaps my view just isn't as focused on society, social justice, political debates, or making a political point. I just worry about myself a lot of the time. I think if modding was taken to the extreme you might want it to go, the integrity of the forum could suffer. It's a spiritual and religious forum, and sometimes spirituality can be at odds with society or be associated with controversial views. This is where debate happens, and debating is in my opinion the answer, not censorship. While I respect gay rights and am against discrimination, I also respect free speech and think it is a fine line here. No one should judge anyone else on their sexuality, and everyone has both male and female aspects to them.

Ok, while I am sympathetic to Seth Ananda's and the Joker's views about this issue, and probably am more on their side... I cannot agree with what they want as far as suspensions and moderator action.

I didn't intend to specifically address the thread you are debating about. I was speaking in general. Sometimes issues of sex, gender, or race can be issues relevant to a religious or spiritual context.

These are complex issues given the nature of this forum. At the end of the day, this is a forum that is spiritual/religious/metaphysical in nature. Shall the issue of race or sexuality just be banned outright? Are these forbidden to talk about? Who can say. The fact remains that when it comes to religion and spirituality, such issues as race and sex can be relevant in a religious or spiritual context. It is far too simplistic for someone to just yell "racism" or "homophobia" or "sexism", at the mere mention of the issues of race, sex, or gender in a spiritual context when left with nothing else to say in any particular debate. For example. Let's take the spiritual path or religion of Hinduism. It can be a controversial issue. Some say you must be born a Hindu, others say you don't. This issue probably goes all the way back to Jesus' time and before.

Yet, in reality, when scientists want to study attraction and sex appeal, and how they affect social dynamics, in the scientific studies they rate people's physical attractiveness on a scale of 1 to 10.

Actually, some teachers spend their weekends and nights marking homework and tests. Which IMO is a pretty chode thing to do. Teachers are bad role models for kids, and shouldn't be viewed as role models because they were probably losers themselves. So you have 2 types of teachers. On the one hand, assholes who hate kids and want to make them all get in line, and hate kids standing out. On the other hand, you have pussies who don't like "confict" or "competition" even though they are facts of life, teachers who society has scammed but yet still don't like the boat being rocked, and hate kids standing out.

Don't unified social groups usually attack non conformists? How could that be that home schoolers become popular and confident? Where would they have learned to navigate social heirarchies, climb to the top, and win in life? Where would they learn to be ruthless in the quest for social status? Where would they be exposed to partying and being social? What girls would they have banged? How can you be confident and mature if you don't win out over other guys and get a lot of hot girls? I'm pretty sure the main factor in how confident you grow up to be is whether you have banged hot girls before you are 16 vs. still being a loser at 16 and not being able to get girls easily. Guys who bang girls by the time they are 14, as a general rule, grow up to be super confident. Guys who don't until they are 18 or older, as a general rule grow up to be insecure and unconfident
