The decline and eventual fall of the USA as world superpower?
Dagon replied to Formless Tao's topic in The Rabbit Hole
Is that even one of the trade centers? -
A rhymer's rascal, Don't believe me? Ask Pascal, who stormed the castle.

Nothing wrong with that, except when you talk the smack, Yagety yak, Jack.

Too much, not enough, Nothing to gain or to lose, what do we do next?

Good point. Electrical is a broad term, and I didn't realize just how broad until today, thanks!

I get your point, but I still prefer ions and ionization or electrochemical, because neuron firing requires both "electronic and chemical coupling through gap junctions." http://physrev.physiology.org/content/75/4/689.short

I still haven't learned about that sort of pacing . . . yet. I would like to visit zerostao one day so he can show me some stuff.

Cool! I find pacing comforting as well.

How do they do it in bagua BKA? (I think they pace in circles)

There are a lot of ways to do it, some just banish them or refuse to follow them, some judge them as good or bad and let them go, others focus on breathing, some use mantra's, some even listen to music, some focus on objects, etc . . .

You think too much. Vipassana/mindfullness/emptiness. Use the search engine and google to learn about the above terms. It might seem too simple, but just try not to think about anything for a minute. It's weird because thinking seems to be an action, yet it is more difficult to not do this action than it is to do it. (moved it here)

Thanks for the elaboration Taomeow! Try not to confuse electrochemically with electricity though, , even though it is ionic.

Here is a great koan (poem) that exemplifies this point imo: Chiyono saw through the reflection of self.

I agree that self preservation is natural, but is a fear of spiders? Do you need to be fearful of a pride of lions to avoid them? I don't see how fear is necessary? I personally think it is largely due to ignorance. If you studied your fears you probably wouldn't be as fearful anymore, like you would know which ones are venomous and can hurt you, etc . . . Most spiders are harmless to us. I think you can replace fear with common sense and knowledge. As far as I know, sages aren't usually the ignorant type, so maybe the story was about a persons personal experience and they used the sage as an example, rather than telling it about their self. (It would make more sense to me if that was the case.)

God kicks Darwin's ass, As the comic book unfolds, A story untold.

Hi Manitou, How have you been? I don't see how calling maintenance would take away his fear of spiders? But maybe he wasn't a sage if he feared spiders in the first place? I don't know. Would being afraid of spiders be like being afraid of the Tao?

I think metabolism does a better job of explaining heat within the body, as well as the thyroid. It also happens to be a chakra or energy center in the throat.

I like MCO the best: I like it because it can be used as a no-nonsense approach. Great for seeker mentality imo. Even before that, it might be good to start with Vipassana meditation or Mindfullness meditation.

Made a new thread about it.

I'm not sure how that is electrical, osmotic pressure has to do with concentration gradients in water and the amount of solutes. Water like to be equal, (like the Tao), and tends to flow from lower concentration of solutes to the higher concentrations to equalize.

The Compassionate Daoist vs. the Compassionate buddhist
Dagon replied to Cheshire Cat's topic in Daoist Discussion
Exactly! View and action are both unecessary, and are therefore actionless. -

That is interesting but if we are to believe Eva Wong then:
