Hi malikshreds, She has no point, how could she have a point if there isn't anyone to have a point? (P.S. the same goes both way so check yourself) Who would be having the point? hmm? If you think deci belle has a point, or even that there is a point to be had, then you missed the point entirely. That's why this is so amusing.

Tosui was a well-known Zen teacher of his time. He had lived in several temples and taught in various provinces. The last temple he visited accumulated so many adherents that Tosui told them he was going to quit the lecture business entirely. He advised them to disperse and to go wherever they desired. After that no one could find any trace of him. Three years later one of his disciples discovered him living with some beggars under a bridge in Kyoto. He at one implored Tosui to teach him. "If you can do as I do for even a couple of days, I might," Tosui replied. So the former disciple dressed as a beggar and spent a day with Tosui. The following day one of the beggars died. Tosui and his pupil carried the body off at midnight and buried it on a mountainside. After that they returned to their shelter under the bridge. Tosui slept soundly the remainder of the night, but the disciple could not sleep. When morning came Tosui said: "We do not have to beg food today. Our dead friend has left some over there." But the disciple was unable to eat a single bite of it. "I have said you could not do as I," concluded Tosui. "Get out of here and do not bother me again." http://www.101zenstories.com/index.php?story=43

Who is there to beg and be the beggar? Neither you nor me. Still considering yourself?

I can't wait!

Rofl, definitely not if it's what she is prattling on about, eh? (desi, those are the words from the buddha, and you toss them aside because they don't fit into "your" personal view.) Evidence of delusion. Has a nice day.

Do you think criticizing people is doing you or them any good? Who would want to listen to such words, let alone take it seriously from such a dirty mouth.

I only have what deci belle is writing to go on, and when she claims there is no I, yet is constantly considering herself, something seems off. Could you define enlightenment for us?

As a mother would risk her life to protect her child, her only child, even so should one cultivate a limitless heart with regard to all beings. With good will for the entire cosmos, cultivate a limitless heart: Above, below, & all around, unobstructed, without hostility or hate. Whether standing, walking, sitting, or lying down, as long as one is alert, one should be resolved on this mindfulness. This is called a sublime abiding here & now. Buddha Karaniya Metta Sutta.

Who is there to be embarrassed for and who is there to be embarrassed? lol . . . Quit fooling yourself. It's better to realise you are possibly delusional than to be delusional without knowing or considering that you are.

It Must be lonely up there all alone, why don't you come down and play? (It's way more fun!)

Good quote!

I mean there is still an I as a reference point, but you don't consider things as yours or belonging to you, ultimately, and how can atoms really own atoms, what is doing the owning? (Only an Idea is owning) A change in perspective isn't really enlightenment, impo. It is the Golden Rule, and allows you to consider other perspective besides a personal one, generally. Check out Kant's Universal Maxims if you want a philosophical take on the Golden Rule.

She's talking about anatta: I think if you say you can't be without self then how could there ever be a selfless act? There is a shift in perspective there if you see it, rather than try to understand it. Self is what you cling things to and own things with, and yes, I agree that it is nearly impossible to be both functional and selfless in this day and age (imo). But if she did it, then good for her!

Well, I think to understand our true convictions, it is helpful to reason them out, and what better way than with the aid of a devils advocate? (Who's using the Buddhist perspectives here anyways?) -
lol.

I'm curious how he managed to stay alive to write anything? Or are animals to be considered more sentient or alive than plants? Personally I don't like killing animals either. In fact, just 2 days ago a Doe deer came up to me and stood just 5 feet away from me watching, and her baby was behind her about 10 ft. just watching me, and I just watched them in return. Yesterday I had to dodge a bunch of aphids congregating on the sidewalk, lol. -

lol, true, I am being silly. Ask a dog if he's silly in an excited manner, it will jump on your leg as well. Or ask the dog if you can eat him for dinner in the same tone, I would be willing to bet that it responds the same way. -

Communicating doesn't mean they feel pain, does it? If so, maybe we should be careful not to walk on the grass or mow the yard, or prune the hedges . . . etc . . . Better not take the plant's fruit or seeds!
