Fava beans provide nutrition for dopamine
JustARandomPanda replied to Harmonious Emptiness's topic in General Discussion
Another good source for boosting the body's dopamine levels is Mucuna pruriens Actually Witch's book The Orgasmic Diet is all about boosting dopamine levels, clearing out excess amounts of SHBG in the bloodstream, clearing out excess amounts of serotonin (which suppresses dopamine release), etc. It raises Jing very quickly. As for helping people with severe depression there's loads of peer-reviewed double-blind studies showing fish oil is just as good as prescription drugs and sometimes better. -

From BaptistBoard.com So it seems a Militant Fundy is a Non-Compromiser in any shape, form or fashion. Or at least that's how I read the above description that they give themselves (ie. from no compromising to most compromising with alternative - excuse me: "Apostate" - POVs like Sinfest's ). -

Oh you are all gonna luv this. I found the forum for the God has a Holy, Righteous Penis quote. It's on the forums debating the movie: Expelled, No Intelligence Allowed along with other movies along the same lines: Here's another choice quote from the same author (Navaros): and and -

Here's another fun site! I just about spit out my drink laughing when I read the following commentary on the quoted text: This is clearly cribbed from Thomas Aquinas' little known treatise "On the Nature of God's Wang." -
Here is a curious excerpt from Jocelyn Godwin's book The Golden Thread: The Ageless Wisdom of Western Mystery Traditions I sure would love to see a discussion between Godwin and Malhotra. I do think Godwin would point out that Western Mystic paths have existed down throughout Western civilizations despite the tremendous pressure and persecution to stamp them out. Godwin is a scholar and researcher in precisely this area. Enjoy!

Here's a site for peeps to enjoy! Fundies Say the Darndest Things! A group that scours the web for forum posts from Evangelicals and Pentacostals (and other assorted peeps) I almost fell out of my chair laughing from this culled quote (I'm currently trying to track down the original ): -

That's well and good E but I still think it's preaching to the choir. I don't even think Joeblast would argue against people voluntarily choosing to do the things you advocated above as being necessary. He might even point out they're the pinnacle of his whole philosophy. I just wonder how do you talk to peeps like this: Evangelical Private Forums Fundamentalist Christian Forums BaptistBoard.com All the above quotes being recited by the speakers in the above YouTube vid where taken from posts in Christian fundamentalist forums. -

It's easy to point out flaws I'll grant that. Now... How do we go about changing the humongous pool of people that are the backbone of these trends (rich or poor, young or old)? Posting this stuff on Taobums doesn't um..exactly reach those people. *scratch nose* I've seen in my own family how my mother got riled up when she discovered I did not hold her Fox News influenced worldviews. Simply posting stuff like the above - while I admit is cool - doesn't exactly change a damn thing. It'll just be read by the choir. And this is true no matter what age group you are in. We all sit around here - post in threads bemoaning the trends we see in society but what does that change? Any of YOU all tried to change the opinions of people like the ones talked about by Kunstler in your daily life? I've tried! Man...they DON'T budge! They just DON'T. Not even one tiny inch will they concede you have even a slight legitimate complaint about the unintended consequences of their views. And then they start to get super duper pissed off at YOU because YOU are the source of all that is tanking American society and destroying the future of the young. Just look at how Ralis and Joeblast constantly butt heads. And they're both fellow Taoist Alchemists! -

Daniel Ingram would LOVE you Informer. Why the Notion That You Can Not Become What You Already Are is Such Bullshit

Some more Excerpts: Here's another example from the book involving yet a different branch of Abrahamaic-faith. This time, Muslim. Another personal account from the author:

Done! Hope Taobums enjoy some of the Excerpts. Note: all italics are from the original text, not my addition.

I would state that 'just be' includes 'being different'. That there is something a bit 'off' or 'not quite right' imo in thinking being different somehow means you aren't being 'just thus'. Which is what those quotes immediately made me think THEY (whoever made that song and that quote) were thinking. This is, in fact (so far from what I can tell) the whole point the author is trying to make. Western civilizations have this notion that "being different" is not being 'just thus' and consequently approaches it as an "error in thinking to be corrected' - aka: "a problem to be solved". Else why did you feel the need to post that quote in refutation of this thread - sight unseen of the book no less. To be honest this type of thinking imo isn't strictly restricted to western civilizations. It's just that the Judeo-Christian-Islamic framework that colors a large portion of the globe's unconscious worldviews makes it particularly difficult to extend true respect to anyone who disagrees with those unconscious frameworks. That is...not extending respect has the legitimacy of religious conceptions of How Things Work behind it. Note the excerpt I offered to the book Letters to a Buddhist Jew The religion deemed inferior was Zen. But if the author had been a Jewish Taoist, Jewish Confucian, Jewish Vedantin, Jewish Shaman, Jewish Theosophist, Jewish Wiccan, Jewish New Ager or whatever I think the the tone of the Rabbi would have been the same.

Hang on for a bit longer. I'm about to post lengthy selections from the very beginning of the book (I've only just today reached Chapter 3 but the selections are from Chapter 1). It's good stuff. Maybe not you but perhaps someone else at Taobums will decide it's worth buying the book and checking it out. I want to post enough sections so that people at least start to get an inkling of what the author (and Dwai) are saying. At the very least the excerpts will be food for thought.

Well I can tell the above belief is by a sentient being who is content. Especially content to not read the book since it's been sufficiently auto-refuted. Cheers to you Informer. Keep doing what works for you. It's all any of us ever do.

The above sentiment and lyrics have nothing to do with the topic / discussions of the book.

Hmm... Can't speak for Hinduism but as far as Buddhism goes it most definitely teaches there are Hell Realms. And from what I gather not just the one Hell of Christianity but tons of them. Now granted - they don't teach one is stuck in these realms for all of eternity but they do mention sentient beings being stuck there for multiple Eons so vast in time (I count one Eon as one cycle of Big Bang/Big Crunch) that they sure will seem like eternity to the beings stuck there. Hence the need for Great Beings like Earth Treasury Bodhisattva "Until the Hells are empty, I vow not to become a Buddha. Only after all living beings are saved, will I myself attain Bodhi." - Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva

COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS CONCERNING DAOISM (TAOISM)
JustARandomPanda replied to Stigweard's topic in General Discussion
Marble is a Philosophical "Virtue-Cultivator Taoist" Shhhhhh...don't tell him but from the above post he let the cat out of the bag he's a closet Confucian as well. -
So I've lately been getting more and more into Confucianism. Of the 2 main indigenous influences of Chinese history it seems neglected in the West vis a vis it's much more famous co-hort Taoism. There's also a link to what seems to be some sort of Chinese Shamanism? Not sure but they don't specifically say it's Confucian - just that it's a direct translation so figured I'd give it. The Li Ki (Book of Sacred Rites) Pt 1 The Li Ki (Book of Sacred Rites) Pt 2 The Great Learning The Doctrine of the Mean The Shu King, Shih King and Hsiao King A different link to the 4 Books and Five Classics of Confucius The Spring and Autumn Annals The above has an introductory commentary section and the original text interspersed with commentary. I do this every night when I repeat the Heart Sutra out loud. It's a good mantra. It's one that I like quite a bit. On a separate note: Sometimes I wonder if modern society hasn't lost something when it abandoned memorizing texts for daily recitation in favor of writing. A teacher can immediately correct someone who recites something incorrectly whereas an error in a text may go unnoticed for hundreds (or possibly even a thousand) of years (and thus change the meaning and interpretation of said teaching).

That's a great site lifeforce! Thanks!

I truly do not know what to think anymore. Did or did not the Buddha teach that Samsara IS an Illusion or merely LIKE an illusion? Here's (an excerpt) what Thusness himself says on the subject (I presume Thusness has let go of all the senses?): Sigh... More and more I see it's necessary to keep diligently practicing. If I always rely on what I've already got I don't suppose I'll ever get any result different from what I already have.

Did Robert A. Wilson write "An Illuminatus Trilogy"? I can't find it on Amazon. -
Well I can not manage to standing practices for longer than 2-3 minutes. Deep pain in my feet begins very soon thereafter. Which is why I wondered elsewhere if standing for such a short amount would do me any good at all or if it just amounted to isometrics as so many Zhan Zhuang practitioners maintain it is without a personal teacher. I don't know of any medical studies that say that standing for 2-3 minutes delivers any health benefits for such short amounts of time but does it do anything energy or Qi-wise?
