Global Full Moon Shaktipat sept 3rd 11pm est
JustARandomPanda replied to Vajrasattva's topic in General Discussion
It was interesting up until the part where Susan started talking about Shiva/Shakti having sex. The moment she started describing all the sex stuff I plunged into a Hell Pit of Depression the likes of which I have seldom ever experienced. I'm still reeling from the sledgehammer blows even today. I don't understand why her mention of sex has filled me with this horrible, hellish depression I can not seem to shake. All my normal "dissolve the mind - it's only extraneous, unneccessary story" meditations, listening to music, painting, playing my guitar, going for a walk both last night and today, playing a video game (FF 10 again), trying to read a SF novel (Old Man's War)...nothing is working to lift me out of this Pit of Hell. I can not summon up even a sliver of willpower to do any KAP today. Had I known shaktipat would do this I think I would've been far more hesitant to participate. -

Oh dear. I have no clue as to how to 'give' the transmission back. Am I understanding this right? We receive the transmission but then bend it around and give it back out at twice the power? -

Is there a way to add myself to this public chat so I don't miss it? I tried clicking on the link but it says to open it with Skype. I already have Skype open but am unsure what the name of the group is. -
Tolkien's Elves knew this experience quite well. It's why the 3 Rings of the Elven Kings were crafted...to stave off the end of all that was beautiful and blissful.

Thank you everyone. After reading the replies it appears I had big misconceptions about what vipassana and concentration meditations are. I have a totally unrelated question though. Tonight after running MCO I decided to try focusing on my breath at the point in my belly (since KAP teaches belly breathing). For some odd ball reason my body started doing this um...weird dance. The dance looked like some paintings I've seen of a Hindu goddess (have no clue which one) where she puts her hands together like she's praying and her hands and head shift from side to side (prayer hands always moving opposite of the head). Side to side always switching. Head to the left, prayer hands to the right. Prayer hands to the left, head shifts to the right. Back and forth, back and forth. This went on I'd say about 5 minutes. What gives with all this Hindu stuff? I'm not even a Hindu! It also started doing front to back undulations as if I were a snake or porpoise. That went on for another 5. And I wasn't doing any of it. It's as if my body had taken over and decided it was gonna do this stuff whether I wanted to or not. Does anyone know what these kriyas mean? Is there any meaning to them in Buddhism, Taoism, Tantra or whatnot? Or is it just a case of my body charged up with excess energy and how it dissipates it doesn't matter?

I thought Vipassana was a concentration meditation. Thought I'd read somewhere that it was. A guy who talked to me at a bookstore said I need to practice it and recommended it as my first meditation exercise to learn. Do you mean focus on the air passing at the tips of my nostrils and see if I can detect when the air doesn't exist as it's passing through? I am confused. That's what I've been trying to do but failing miserably at it. I haven't yet after 2.5 - 3 months been able to detect any kind of gap between breaths. And my eyes want to roll down and focus on my nostrils so I typically end up with a headache. This despite repeatedly stopping to consciously relax and unfocus my eyes. Everyone I've talked to and everywhere I read online all say Concentration meditation on breath must be first then go to Insight meditation on breath. They also imply unless you learn to do these two breath meditations you will never achieve Enlightenment no matter what else you may do. I am confused...and more than a little bummed out if that's true.

How Many Brass and Woodwind musicians are in here?
JustARandomPanda replied to Encephalon's topic in General Discussion
Cool! I want to hear what anyone else says too! I play both the flute and recorder (along with plucking around here and there on the guitar, banjo and sometimes drumming on my tabla). Loved the recorder enough I ended up getting one made of pearwood instead of plastic though I don't believe there's anything wrong with plastic ones. I do find sustaining breath when playing carries over to breathing exercises in KAP. I guess playing brass instruments uses a different kind of breath control than it does for ones to blow across holes or reeds? I know in hole instruments the most optimal, perfect sound is produced when the airstream is split 50/50. 50% across the hole and 50% down it. The whole subject of how the body responds to music is just fascinating to me. I went to a Layne Redmond workshop one time. She is a master at playing all types of frame drums and the performance she gave that day just blew me away. I have never in my life seen such mastery. I think at one point she was a student of Glen Velez and he also is a frame drum master. What interested me that day was something she described at a Women's Frame Drum Circle retreat she had sponsored for 3 days. She said there were about 25 women. All sitting in a circle just drumming on their frame drums to a regular pattern. I forget which one alas though she and her assistant demonstrated it. Anyhoo...after 3 days of hours and hours spent by all these women just drumming in this circle...on the 3rd day they all felt a huge rush of energy sweep across the circle....she said if felt just like the rushing of a huge powerful wind storm. And in that moment she says every single one of the women in that circle suddenly gushed out ALL her menstrual blood in one huge rush. One weeks worth of menstrual blood just flooded out in a single instance for every one of them - all at that same moment! I remember everyone at the workshop just gasping at hearing that. Such is the power of music to get the body to respond. So it is not only apparently brass and wind instruments that can do strange things. Drumming seems to have quite an effect on the body too. Anyhoo...I've gone on much too long and diverged from the topic but I couldn't resist posting as playing music is one of my loves. Best wishes to you Blasto. I hope this thread gets LOTS of replies. -
For other guitar players like me who like to doodle around. Gametabs.net I would have to say from Chrono Cross is the equal of FF music imo. And watch the ending...the ...and remembers all the past lives of those therein... *and strangely fitting for the subject of this thread...

Why thank you Creation! Blessings to you too.

Was my understanding of the issue completely off or wrong?

Interesting...this sounds almost like a higher level version of the same process one goes through when the Ego dissolves and "ordinary" Enlightenment is achieved. Except this time it is dissolving of the non-dual Atman itself. That sounds scary as hell. You are delving (and dissolving!) "God" at that point! Damn...that's one deep rabbit hole into the Matrix. Must go meditate to investigate... edit: It occurred to me - what is to prevent someone from coming back and saying "what is storing all these good and bad karma seeds?" I take it Hindus (and I would presume Muslims and Christians too) would say this "storing" is proof something (the Universal Divine Soul?) is doing the storing. I imagine Buddhists would reply this question is the subtle urge to grasp at "I" and reify by this one particular 'bag of karma' so to speak? What "glues" the "bag of karma" together so that this collection uses that action as proof it is part of a Universal Divine Soul? Is that "bag of karma" mistaking assorted "pressures" exerted from other causes that coalesce to one spot as proof of possessing independent solidity? (By pressures I imagine it like squeezing a tube of toothpaste. The toothpaste will end up on the other side simply because that's where it's been squeezed to.) I see Buddhists as saying this "squeezing pressure of karma" explains the glue and is the Occam's Razor explanation of the 'gluing action'? P.P.S. Final Fantasy 10 Spoiler Alert!!!! You know what's really bizarre? This is all sounding too much like everyone is a coalesced "Dream of the Fayth" just like Tidus was in Final Fantasy 10!

I think maybe now I finally understand what "Alaya Consciousness" is thanks to a post by a Buddhist (I presume) on a Skeptic Society forum. This person said Alaya Consciousness is one of the 8 Levels of Consciousness described in Buddhism. To quote this person's description: Is this a good way to describe it? I take it this is what Hinduism rejects as being true? Hindus say this 8th layer is either misunderstood by Buddhists or else simply doesn't exist?

Is anyone else confused as to whether Chicultivation is a man or a woman? One post authored by CC signed off with the woman's name of Sandra. But then another mentioned CC's wife and children. Or perhaps CC is a lesbian in one of the states that now legally recognizes lesbian marriage? I do not mean to be insulting. I'm just curious.

does semen emissons makes you start again?

Just wanted to point out that the folks at Reuniting.info have dug up info from various medical studies which seem to support Little1's arguments at least on a hormonal and brainwave level. What is even more interesting to me is that these medical studies indicate women suffer the same effects of energy depletion as do men. Which means Drew Hempel's musings may indeed be right and women who do the whole 100+ days of no masturbatory and/or orgasmic sex thing may also benefit by 'powering up' transmuting their Jing to Chi. To that end I have voluntarily turned myself into a lab rat and am trying to see if I will notice a difference. I certainly hope so at least. While these medical studies are not conclusive (still too few of them) I wish there were more in this area as what's out there is intriguing. Unfortunately I suspect it won't happen because Big Pharma is unlikely to find a way to make money from it. -
If done in the right spirit that might actually be some excellent advice for all.

I found interesting commentary on this book by one reader at Amazon. I can't comment on most of his critiques as I'm not familiar with either the Vedas or most of the Buddha's texts and teachings but I do agree with one of them. Anyone who trumpets they're become Enlightened most probably isn't (Buddha commented on this - I believe - in the Diamond Sutra). p.s. It does sound like an interesting book though. -

Holy cow. How'd I miss this post? Dayuuummm. Does KAP have anything like this?
-
Yes. KAP 1 for Qi Gong and additional meditation as well. Thanks for the link Mal. I will try it. My only problem is I've never been able to sit in either siddhasana or full-lotus. I've tried and tried and just can't get my legs and feet to do what I want them to do. I hope it's still possible to get good transmute results even if one can't sit in either one of them.
