Should a Taoist Forum focus primarily on Taoism?
JustARandomPanda replied to chicultivation's topic in General Discussion
Since starting KAP and meditating I've become much more "Green-ish" and concerned for the environment in my thinking. I'd also like to add if one finds the things Pietro mentions interesting please check out David Harvey. Hands down some of the smartest critiques of capitalistic systems since Marx. His website has some good, short YouTube vid links to boot. -
does semen emissons makes you start again?

Guys...Please help me. Show support for Drew if you can. Please read this thread. If enough people buy his current book (very affordable - less than $7) he will publish a NEW book explaining all his discoveries and theories. Much of which covers the very things being discussed in this and prior threads. -
Drew when you write your new book (yes, I insist on being optimistic and positive that there *will* be a new book - either ebook or real book - preferably the latter) could you please make some sections take into account cultivation and/or practices from a female perspective as well as male? I'm always frustrated that so many 'convert jing to chi" and "convert sex energy to spirit" etc instructions are geared solely to men. It's as if women wishing to cultivate and transmute sexual energy don't exist.

Personal Practice Blog?
JustARandomPanda replied to JustARandomPanda's topic in Forum and Tech Support
Is there anyone I can contact since both are away from the site right now. I tried PM-ing Sean soon after the original post and haven't had a reply. Yoda has posted he's taking a long break from TaoBums. -
Fascinating. This is similar to something I spontaneously hit on one day about 2 years ago when I first started doing Qi Gong. It hit me one day that I was beginning to get a somewhat recognizable feel of chi moving in my body. Well really it was the impedance to chi I was feeling as I later learned rather than chi itself but whatever. Anyhoo I wondered if there was a way to focus or feel the 'space between all chi'. I tried doing that for several days in a row and finally realized it just wasn't gonna happen. I don't know if anyone is able to ever feel or focus on the space between chi. Maybe awareness of non-chi is a better way to put it? But that doesn't seem quite right. I'm kind of struggling to put into words what I'm referring to. But if so it must be a much more advanced accomplishment than I'm able to do even now. I still can't really 'feel', 'perceive' or 'focus' on the absence or space between all chi or be aware of the arising and passing away or interplay between them. But for some reason your exercise reminded me of that experiment I cooked up 2 years ago. I don't know why but it did.

Non action? That means the U.S. is chock full of Wu Wei-Realized people! We are the fattest nation on the planet due to non-action. I did not realize this was also the fruit of being Wu Wei. Interesting...

What is this "Listening" practice and how does one get "Protection" if one is nowhere near and unable to afford a teacher?

What do you see differently when your 3rd eye is open or opening?
JustARandomPanda replied to baloneyx's topic in General Discussion
These descriptions for some reason remind me of Indra's Net. I don't know why but that's the impression I got from reading the above. Is an open 3rd Eye considered a Siddha? -
Make that 49 book orders. I just bought one. I so want Drew to publish a new book chock full of all the stuff he's been posting about. He is hands down one of my most-watched posters at TB. I hope other people here will order it too. It's interesting and the lulu book is only $6.56 plus shipping. You can order it at Amazon or at Lulu.com.

So... since I was too rev'd to get any sleep I decided wth...at least use the time constructively. Last week we learned Kan and Li and I made the surprising discovery that the interior of my body feels very damp and cold. In fact...I started to notice it ALWAYS feels damp and cold inside. I think that's one reason why I've always used a heating pad every evening as the heat helps diminish pain I often feel in my back and torso muscles. I also think I've unconsciously been using the heating pad to compensate for this constant cold, dampness. I think it's also why I've always disliked being in very cold, damp environments. I have no idea what excessive cold, dampness in the interior of the body means in TCM (anyone who can enlighten me on that part please do). But I do know it has apparently contributed at least some to my chronic muscle pains. Well...since starting Kan and Li I get a nice 'sauna' effect inside. It helps diminish the cold, damp feeling and bingo..pain in my muscles almost completely disappears for a few hours afterward. It's also helping to give me more flexibility. It makes a great addition to some of my Pilates workouts. Oh...and it's all tons of fun. I like that my teacher, Tao Semko gives options for how to do the same exercise. Often times he'll teach both with visualization and a more 'tactile' option if that's more your preference (or better yet - do both). It really is tons of fun. And now I can say it seems to have benefits for pain management and I suppose for correcting imbalances TCM-style. I really don't know why I'm posting this. I guess I'm in a really happy buzz state - and all without any alcohol around at all. p.s. The kriyas are getting positively funny now. Sometimes my body does such kooky stuff I can't help but laugh while they're going on. Cheers!

KAP 1 teaches Kan and Li. I assume Kan and Li is similar to tummo? I'm unsure as to whether they're considered the same thing or not. All I know is it's because of Kan and Li that I became aware of the constant internal cold, dampness. I diagnosed myself just because there was no mistaking the difference. Once I'd had the chance to feel the difference it became quite easy to notice it was a constant thing. And there was certainly no mistaking how 'turning on the internal burn' greatly reduced the constant pain I've lived with for the last few years (thanks to a drunk driver hitting me). He also gave suggestions today tailored to individual needs. And he's constantly stressing how all this should be fun...we should play around. If the 'standard' version of how to do something doesn't quite work for you then play around and see if you can come up with a variation that works for you. He keeps saying that's what Dr. Morris would teach. That your practice should be FUN. Bracket the practices you don't like with ones that you do. You can always break them down into smaller sessions of bite-sized chunks - which is what I tend to do. I love how he stresses the tactile side of things! It's like he remembered there may be people in this world who were born blind but they shouldn't be forgotten. Visualization won't work for such people. Some of them might want to learn how to awaken Kundalini too. And he's right. It really 'powers up' your ability to feel the different sensations much faster than just via visualization alone. Tao's also really good at Troubleshooting. Today's session was almost completely dedicated to troubleshooting assorted things we've each encountered during the practices. He listens, explains why those symptoms are happening then gives one or more remedies to correct it. We got to learn about some mudras also. And now I know that apparently my hand kriyas are quite fond of making the protection mudra (hookem horns sign from UT Austin or as he reminded me a lot of Metal Headbangers love to do it at concerts ) p.s. If I recall correctly he also mentioned the protection mudra is also a grounding mudra. It grounds your energy with the earth.

Fascinating. More stuff to think on. I am beginning to think DH could give Vajrahridaya a serious run for his money in both experience and esoteric knowledge.

I noticed Mr. Primack did not answer this question. He probably didn't see it so I'm pasting it again here. p.s. Also wanted to say that it's a good idea to limit the number of smoothies or juicers to at most two per day. Most Americans get too little fiber in their diet as is and juicing compounds that problem. When you throw out the bulks of pulp made in Juicers instead of eating it you've also thrown out all the phytonutrients it contains that do not get squeezed out with the juice. For that reason I don't think Juicing is a healthy practice. It's always better to eat the real vegetable or fruit than only the juice or smoothie left behind.

Just thought I'd toss this in as I've always loved philosophy.

What do you see differently when your 3rd eye is open or opening?
JustARandomPanda replied to baloneyx's topic in General Discussion
Cobalt blue is one of my two most-favorite colors. Maybe someday I'll get the chance to see this infinite space cobalt blue for myself. Reading about things like what 3rd Eyes see....Just Wow. I feel like a spiritual 2 year old toddling around gawking wide-eyed at all the Spiritually-realized Adults here. -
I wish Drew Hempel would collect all his essays and publish it or better yet - expand upon them then publish it. But every time I or anyone else mentions that he just keeps saying to read Taoist Yoga - which I have but haven't gotten around to reading yet. I still think he would have interesting things to say in a book despite his insistence that he doesn't. A complete exposition on his music resonance vis-a-vis enlightenment alone would make such a book worth every penny IMO.

Taoism and the dark night on the soul
JustARandomPanda replied to Pietro's topic in General Discussion
Considering how fat most North Americans are a freight train of pain is headed our way. Sadly, according to the latest WHO statistics the rest of the world will catch up within the next 10 years. Mexico already has. I always had a sneaky hunch Mr. Spock and Data were secretly closet Taoists. -

*blink blink* Fascinating. Well I guess that settles it. My 3rd Eye is definitely shut. I wonder if KAP 1 exercises open it? -
Can women learn how to give these "O's at a D"?

*hugs freeform, Pietro, Kate, Sloppy and Mal* Thank you so much. Especially for the suggestions. I feel a wee bit better knowing I'm not the only crazy kook on TB who's going (or gone) through this. p.s. No fantasies - it messes up my energy. I got that one covered as I'm on a 100+ day celibacy thing just like men do. Kinda easy to do when your BF lives several states away. *edit: I forgot to ask. What is wei qi?

Sigh... I've just been informed via PM that Tonglen meditation might make things worse...not better. Back to the drawing board.

What if I told you guys I am dealing with an Incubus (I'm sure Freudians would have a field day with that one) and been using the advice in this very thread for the past week (just dissolve and let it go since it's a manifestation of my mind - or at least that's what I've been telling myself all this time). Currently listening to an audio book from the Dalai Lama - How to Practice: The Way to a Meaningful Life. But now I sleep only during the daytime with the windows open for strong sunlight. And I've been doing LOTS of Secret Smile too. With LOTS of Inner Smile thrown in for good measure. And for the moment I've stopped doing much more of KAP than Dantien cultivation and MCO. 5 years ago when I was still had Materialist sympathies I would've laughed at all of this. But now worry that Tulpas are more real than I ever dared or knew. I don't find it funny at all - it is so real it's scared me to death that I'm losing my sanity. The power of the mind and what can bubble up from the unconscious (or karma - take your pick) just astounds me. And all this before I ever had the chance to even get to the Bliss *or* Shit Stage One like everyone else who's posted in this thread. So when Pietro made his little post about how doing this meditation stuff opens up awareness to GHOSTS...well...I came positively UNGLUED. p.s. This Tulpa shows up during full blown daylight. I only wish it were limited to night time sleep paralysis - at least then it would be easier to blow off.

In one sense yes. Thank you. *rose for Pietro* There's only one problem. I have no teacher. I'm going DIY on this as I can not afford a teacher and don't know where to find one. At the moment I am reading Mastering the Core Teachings of the Buddha by Daniel Ingram. I am hoping this will be enough since I don't know where a teacher is. The Primal Terror experiences (not to mention seeing Hell Realm Beings [whether true or not]!!!!) is a big worry for me because I have major problems dealing with fear and terror. I've had this problem according to my parents since before I could walk. I must have had many horribly, unbelievably evil past lifetimes to be dealing with fear my whole life. Oddly it is the one emotion I know all too well. Most others I have a harder time being aware of. Sloppy...are you dealing with any of these things? Is this what happened to you - the Primal Terror - to prompt your post?
