  1. Embryonic Breathing

Wow, thats exactly what I was planning to ask. Master Lin does not seem to specify what breathing needs to be employed during Small universe, or does he and I missed it? During the active exercises he does teach reverse breathing but in Small Universe, it is assumed that normal breathing has to be followed? Appreciate your inputs, as always.....Thanks...
  2. Embryonic Breathing

Drew, I have a basic question about reverse breathing. Whether it simply brings in more energy or chi into the lower tan tien or does it also open the microcosmic orbit? I read in a book (cannot recollect which one!) that reverse breathing, practiced seriously without the channels open, leads to problems. Thanks in advance for your inputs....
  3. Embryonic Breathing

Anyone reading this book lately? Seems like a treasure trove. Have been reading for the past few days but could not get past few chapters. There are various breathing practices, or probably one with slight modifications. Any pointers on how to go about this book would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Flying Yogi ?

The following Video, making rounds in many national dailies and news channels in India, was supposedly captured by an Electrician who was walking on the sacred Arunachala hill in Southern India, reputed to be the house of various immortal Yogis and Siddhas. It is this place that drew Ramana Maharshi like a magnet, and he stayed here all his life. The video is not very clear and so nothing can be claimed regarding its authenticity. But, the electrician claims he captured through his cell phone the video of an immortal who literally flew away on seeing him. Take it with a *pinch* of salt but this hill shrine has been identified as a power place by many healers and masters for several centuries. http://www.lankanewspapers.com/news/2008/2/25046_space.html 9qOivuASaD4
  5. Lama Dorje

How about Silver dragon body? May be there is a Platinum one which we have not heard of, yet :-)
  6. Lama Dorje

This sounds similar to the state of Babaji whose being is said to be of light. With light body are said to come the abilities to materialize at will, shape shift etc., as its all light. Does Kan demonstrate any of this? I have a some related questions as well: - Is Kan also enlightened 'spiritually'? I know different people have different interpretations but may be what I understand as enlightenment is the Advaitic way, which Shankara and Ramana taught. - If not, then is GDB a physical attainment only? Hindu Siddhas prescribe the path of kAyA kalpa where a 'vajra sharia' or Diamond body can be attained by yogic mudras, herbs, mantras and control of breath. This provides healthy, somewhat immortal state to give time to the practitioner to work towards enlightenment, which would require time and efforts as Karmas need to be absolved. Is the concept of GDB similar to this? - Finally, would it be right to say that Kan is now 'Immortal' in the Taoist sense?

  8. Kunlun bliss book questions!

True... I met someone last week who trained with Terry Dunn a few years ago. He taught him the exact same posture as Kunlun. He called it some other name though. It was one of the 8 sitting exercises he taught him.
  9. Qigong without Vizualisations

Try Xiang Gong ..... its rather simple and requires you NOT to visualize....
  10. Kunlun For Those With Awakened Kundalini?

There are various states of Shambhavi Mudra. 'Sham' is auspiciousness and to remain in such a state is the effect induced by Shambhavi Mudra. The ramifications of this mudra are different in Hatha Yoga and Tantra. According to Hatha Yoga, in Shambhavi Mudra, Yogi focuses his sight on an external object but the perception of this focus is turned inwards. He gazes at an external object without blinking, but the focus really is internal. The Mind and Prana are focused simultaneously on an internal Chakra, which could be any Chakra from Mooladhara to Ajna. Turning the gaze outwards, drawing the mind inwards, and keeping both focussed on one object is the essence of Shambhavi Mudra. This Mudra has been popularly employed to gaze at Kutastha or the point between the brows but the application of this Mudra is not limited to Ajna alone. In left-handed Tantra, this Mudra has a total different approach. Mudras like Shambhavi, Shivalata are used to awaken and lead Kundalini in various ways using sexual techniques. Shambhavi Mudra involves copulation here, while focusing on certain specific parts of one's partner in a peculiar Mudra. Shanmukhi mudra or the 'Closing of the six gates' is called Shambhavi Mudra when the seventh gate - i.e. the mind is closed by stilling it completely. Thus, this Mudra is the result of Laya Yoga, where the mind is employed to dissolve itself. In Classic Tantra, Shambhavi Mudra is more so a state. The state where thoughtlessness is preserved unconditionally. The state leading to this Mudra primarily is called Shambhav Upaya or the the path of Shambhava, where there is no effort on the part of the aspirant whatsoever to enter this state. There is no effort, no technique, no path or no goal. It just happens effortlessly through Divine Grace and there is no effort to preserve this state.
  11. Man from Earth

Did any one watch the movie 'The Man from earth'. Did some one like it? http://www.watch-movies.net/movies/the_man_from_earth/
  12. KunLun Level 1 - Levitation

A small correction related to usage of the word. 'Siddhi' means attainment and 'Siddha' is the one who has attained or accomplished.
  13. Ramana Maharishi

Thanks Buddy, had not seen this wonderful video before!! http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=10...h&plindex=0 Here's a documentary on the life of Adi Shankaracharya, the greatest propounder of Advaita philosophy. It is in Sasnkrit with English subtitles.
  14. None of these masters who overtly gave importance to Sex, much more than what was necessary, sometimes towing away other rather required practices, were REAL masters anyway. Of course, there were exceptions like Yogananda who really wanted to teach the West. Most were and are really those who saw/see a great potential to make money in the west. In India, most understand the practices or have at least heard something about what really takes one to enlightenment and these BS guys stand no chance there. As an Indian, it is sometimes painful for me to see these Gurus who know nothing, exploiting some sincere westerners for sex and money. A master leads a simple life, does not build establishments around himself that tie him down, teaches only the sincere student and the teaching is never in exchange of money. Though these are the requisites of a real Indian master, I don't see why it should be different for a true master from any other culture. A Master, who is enlightened, is not affected by Karma as the sphere of Karma is lifted on enlightenment. The identification with one's limited self and attachment to the results of the actions performed are what cause Karma and these cease after enlightenment. So the karmic exchange theory oft quoted for exchange of money in spiritual matters does not make sense. Nature takes care of the enlightened master and he never worries about his physical sustenance or pursues material goals specifically. The ancient scriptures prophesied the 'Newage Gurus' thousands of years ago: The gurus of today are shisha-hrit-tapa-haraka: [shishya - disciple's, hrit-heart; tapa-agony; haraka:-take away]. But in later days, they will be shishya-vitta-apaharaka: [shishya-disciple's, vitta-money; apaharaka:-take away]. Also, how could some bonding between a disciple and his master, established on the basis of whatever energy pattern that 'money energy or metal' can have, do the disciple any good and burn any karma? All this is business at the end of the day and it would be better to simply acknowledge the same than come up with phony excuses. Not many masters today are 'really' enlightened and in such cases, considering their need to make a living, charging money is not bad, but giving a metaphysical touch to this exchange certainly is, IMHO....

  17. Tao Bums Forum - Growth and development

Right on point Cam... True, if some practice does not work for one, like Kunlun didn't for me, he should move on with whatever works. Not everything works for everyone but that can hardly be the way to judge the validity of the practice itself. Also, abstaining from responding with the same stuff to the same question will naturally discourage further conversation. Sometimes, when people invest time and money in stuff, they would want to promote the practice and propagate it and probably need to avoid others from 'bad mouthing' it as well to protect their interests, and that is probably understandable to most here. Yes, publicity and claims about Kunlun were a bit too much sometimes to the point of almost being disrespectful to other systems but those can be interpreted to be in good intention. In Vedic system of logic, called Nyaya, there is a rule, nahi nindaa nyaaya. To convey the greatness of one aspect, another can be slightly ridiculed or spoken less of, or the other exaggerated a little, but the wise understand that to be a way of expression and don't accept it to mean literally. Thinking on the same lines in the present context can avoid discomfort to some here, who are unhappy with the whole thing and not for 'just the sake of it'. That apart, people have learnt a lot from Kunlun I guess. Those who liked the practice learnt a wonderful practice and those who did not, understood something that doesn't work for them. I learnt to turn off/on energy by lifting heels up, learnt to return to my Kriya Tantra with greater vigor having tried another system and evaluated another practice, learnt about people, emotions, pros and cons of publicity, the greatness of the 70% rule of moderation etc. So, at the end of the end of the day, it has all been learning, which is good. So that should leave no room for complaints And it is really important not to make those who respectfully disagree with the majority view 'unwelcome'.
  18. Is KunLun Bogus?

he he now I get a hang of the now legendary Aussie sportsmanship .....
  19. Is KunLun Bogus?

You have been rude to most including a lady and to all those who have been polite to you. I know I am gonna get shouted at but I don't care. If you don't believe anything at all, why are you wasting your time here? Why are you spending your valuable time amidst a few delusional fools instead of being with some 'rationalists' group? You are not seeking answers and trying to learn anything here. What possibly can you from 'delusional' folks? So, if then your objective is to 'preach', then you should understand that the 'delusional' don't 'believe' in what you think is rational. Can we keep buddy banter in a single thread as well? Most of the posts are the same 'I don't believe anything' 'You don't prove that I don't prove' stuff followed by a string of abuses. Sean .... Sean........ we need you....now....
  20. Is KunLun Bogus?

Hi Mikaelz, Haven't see you around here for a while, hope you're doing fine. Piece #1 Take the posture and let the mind go for one hour. You might be surprised at what happens to you. Piece #2 Once the energy is activated, the posture is not necessary. [i am not sure if the posture here is only the ball posture held with the hands or even the heels lifted] So there are two things here, one is 'Letting go' part and the other is the 'posture' part. Posture seems to be secondary compared to the 'letting go part' as nothing happens with just the posture. Also, without the ball position held, with just heels up, legs shake without 'letting go', or anything as I tried this at my desk yesterday. I am not concluding anything here but just think it is the 'letting go' part that does whatever it does. And, is achieving this state of 'letting go' or 'just be' all that simple? Are not a lot of practices taught and practiced for years just to achieve this state? If this state is a pre-requisite, then Kunlun is a practice that can be undertaken after a practitioner makes some progress with other practices. But once this state is achieved, then the posture is not required probably. So, then, is it the transmission that fills the gap and takes one to the state of 'letting go'? Also, once that happens, in level one, what exactly is the practice as the posture is not required thereafter? Just remaining in the state of 'let go'?

  24. Kechari Mudra

Yes, one in a million, after dedicated repitition for thousands and thousands of time, depending on karma and intent, a mantra can become siddha but that is not a normal case. For most, this does not work. The same Yoga Kundalini Upanishad states this as well, like with any scripture dealing with the science of mantras. Every mantra works but if repeated for several lifetimes, which is not humanly possible. Or else, every second person in India would be enlightened as most of us recite one mantra or the other. Every chakra has a corresponding bIja mantra. But every mantra need not be associated with a chakra. Om namaH shivaya the classic mantra is a prayer to Lord Shiva. Every mantra has associated practices called mudras, nyasas and vizualisations peculiar to that mantra, called dhyana. Also, the number of recitations for each mantra is not some general number. The scripture which reveals the mantra reveals the number of recitations, what mudra is to be held, which direction to be faced, when to start the practice, what part of the day to recite etc. One can still hope to recite without an initiation or understanding any of the technicalities and can even acheive mantra siddhi but that would just be mainly due to some divine grace or previous efforts. Doesn't work and is more of a newage thing taught in the west. Also, not every mantra works for every person. There are various techniques called sidda ari shodhana which determine if a particular mantra can be taken up for practice by a particular person or not. Without a master, one would just be dwindling with a group of syllables.
  25. Kechari Mudra

This mantra is what Swami Shivananda quotes somewhere as he interprets Yoga Kundalini Upanishad. This mantra is wrong in two syllables and it is just a dohana mantra. Khechari is visualized as a goddess and she has a separate mantra which is a single syllable with five letters. Unless received from a Guru who can empower it, mantras do not give desired results. 7,00,000 is the prescribed number, but in the current age which is called kali yuga, the number would be 4 times the original number. The severing of frenum is taught in Hatha Yoga. Talavya Kriya is the procedure in Kriya Yoga.
