maybe I could regard my home as a small country. Anyway I go, I will annex them and make it within my small country. Take Care!

We all are trying to give you the answer you seek; perhaps you are not used to things being said indirectly. But that's ok. Like Marblehead said, Chuang Tzu played it. Laozi mentioned it with silence. You ever wonder why the Daoist practice Wuwei? @Marblehead Thanks for sharing Marble Let me quote TzuJanLi here; hope he doesn't mind

Oh my bad; Double posted

Sinfest; I like what you said about the pond and the good luck, bad luck thingy. You'd really like your horses aren't you? Anyway, I like them too. Deci, due to some karmic barrier force me to skim your words but well said. Chi, (I don't know what to say; lets get back to translating) Kali, Just drive in and swim; good swimmer don't think much of water. Neither does bird think about air. Enjoy the calm and the torrent; don't depend too much on anything. Well what am I to say, what is there for me to say; I am just a bookworm. Good Weekend!

Sounds like a nice place This heartland sounds good, do you know anyone that live there ?

Seems to be many level like you said; not sure how esoteric is much different from the mind. The Knotting Chord is quite nice; It's from the same line; something that can be tie and untie. In that way, one can enjoy their food and see that their clothing is beautiful. I think I can see the thing about Desire. I also like Though they live within sight of their neighbors, And crowing cocks and barking dogs are heard across the way, Yet they leave each other in peace while they grow old and die. @Sinfest Hooray you are here, I am reminded of your comic.

@Dawei You brings forth my curiosity now, guess should leave it at that. Glad to hear that things are well. And yeah Thanks for sharing. Hope you enjoy your time in China; bow to the Middle Kingdom for me . We are flooding here in Thailand, hope the water doesn't rise more. But who am I to stand/resent nature? Take Care,

Hello Joe, Hope everything is settling well around you; welcome to the Tao Bums. Nothing actually comes to my mind as now. C T seems to be pointing at already a very good source. And I am sure everyone of us here would be recommend the things that we found fruitful. If you haven't done already, I would recommend keeping a small journal for the journey, Journal can contain anything from your feelings during your meditation or your illumination on the past events or future events. Experiences during meditations, observations; or even random doodles. This is something for yourself and your future references. Sometimes, those random stuff really provides another dimension to your self-reflection Use the seat-belt and sit tight and enjoy the ride. Wish you well on your journey, may the light always illuminate the path for you. XJ

Comments: I think this ideal state is quite hard to maintain in this day and age unless most people in that community purposes are to cultivate. Although there are some communities and town, that this concepts have been put well into work. Would tend to think that this chapter points more toward how Sage should treat the myriad things within oneself. Have a nice weekend, XJ edited - Grammar mistakes

I come from a Buddhist background; the nature of our triple gems is also similar (though many can disagree). Buddha - Knowing Dharma - Knowledge Sangha - Knower The Jains have something similar; Correct Insight, Correct Knowledge, Correct Conduct Daoist: Jing, Qi and Shen; or one could even look at Dao, De and Jing (This character 經 as a noun it means scripture but as a Verb, it could mean to manage, pass through, undergo, bear or stand) I brought this one up on my own, any error is on me. The Hindus: read up on Trimurti and Tridevi on wiki for something. Theirs are a bit different, they have the Yin and Yang aspect of Birth, Preserving, and Cessation. They have so many deities so I will leave it with the three pairs. Apologies if this offend anyone reading, Any mistake or misconception is my own; I just brought them up for comparison. @Dawei Hope all goes well; and speedy recovery if any. Take Care @Others Be Well

Nice to see how the DDJ can be applicable to many situations. My example is similar to that of Jeff; it's regard to the mind. In martial art, the flow of the present have to be maintain. Even when got hit, one needs to change and react according. While keeping the mind/heart in check. The good martial artist never anticipate or expect; the one takes/dodge the blow and move on without setting any traps for oneself; the Qi flows freely. The lesser martial artist depends on schemes/wit; he anticipates and get pumped up when hit or pressured; he blocks up his own Qi. May all be Well;

From my feeling ; The Way of Heaven, Way of Man and Way of many other things. I think I understands Lienshan's statement about the Laozi's Way being a subjective one though I couldn't say aswell whether it is subjective/objective since it contains both of the properties. But who am I to claim to know the Dao. Apologies (Going off topic again); I agree; though there are slight hairbreadth differences from my observation. But there are striking similarities such as the nature of the Holy Trinity I had a chance to talk with some Orthodox Christians; there's also much stuff that we can learn from all the traditions. Take Care and Be Well, XJ

(Going off Topic) Jeff, I am not quite familiar with the Testaments. But are their any different between Jesus's use of 'Son of Man' and 'Man'?
-
@Jeff Thank you for a nice post. @Chidragon (Hey CD, may I ask where did you get your 3rd line from? I can't seem to locate it) @Marblehead Anyone see anymore dimension to this text? If yes please share . (Going off topic:) From my observation, the theme nicely echoes throughout the Zhuangzi like where Yen Huei's conversation with Master Kong (Confucius) about his departure to Wei.

Nice symbology Chidragon; Question, Why would Sage hold on to it?

Observation: da 大 (great) is used here... The MWD A text have the different character in the Sage's sentence; noting by Henrick's and John Wu's translation. (Left/Right tallies). Rhetorical Questions: What is Great Resentment? Why isn't it good to have this resentment? Do Virtuous Man have this resentment? Possibly leading and erroneous comments - Highlight to read: Great Resentment imho is resentment towards Heaven. Taking in the context of the previous chapters; The Sage uses the '有德' manifested virtue to persevere/protect (I used from the 介 MWD A), uses the '無德' Formless Virtue to lead men (徹夫). By thus the Sage nurture that of the life and doesn't go against the Way of Heaven (As we understood from few previous chapters). Virtuos Man don't resent Heaven...
