Anyone else get headaches sometimes after meditation?
InfinityTruth replied to InfinityTruth's topic in General Discussion
Doesn't feel like I'm getting caught anywhere. Unless I'm really hunched over then I can tell. I can feel the breath down to the bottom of my throat at least. Nice cooling feeling. That's a great idea. Thanks! I've been dying to keep moving forward in the book, so I've been pushing the practices too fast. -
Still doing it. One thing I noted is that when I get attached to something I forget about my breath, so it's a great indicator.

I sit in a recliner most of the time, and watch my thoughts (What makes them occur) for as long as I can stand too. And in the past I would count breath. Recently though, I'm just letting go of issues and my attachment to thoughts. Dissolving. I've actually seen results right away with this one which I like. EDIT: Like a change in my perception to a more favorable perception. I need to do it more haha. Watching what arises without intervening. Getting rid of tension.

Yeah, the book increases in difficulty as you go. I haven't really skipped anything persay, but I've been anxious to keep reading, so I haven't totally mastered the step before. EDIT: That may be the problem. Plus I don't think the breath has told me to try lengthening my breaths yet, but I've been doing that and it feels uncomfortable. I don't know I might have to check that. That might be the problem. EDIT: Book** I will take any guidance you'd be willing to offer though. I think I have a 2 second breath without trying to stop it. Exhale is probably a little shorter than that. Thank you. -
I've been trying to be conscious of my breath since I read this thread. Thanks for the inspiration. I can hold my awareness of it so long as I don't get too into anything. I notice I'm not thinking as much though.

Thank you. I always rest my tongue on the roof of my mouth. I heard it connects your psychic channels. I think it's a neck muscle or couple neck muscles that tenses up and then I get a headache. I just felt a neck muscle tensing as I typed that. I'll try the adominal breathing and see what happens. I think my breathing is too rigid while trying to lengthing it and it gives me a headache. It's hard for me to relax my muscles when I try lengthening my breath. -

haha, you meditate in a recliner too eh? That's my favorite way to meditate. I notice when I meditate in the recliner I get cold leg chi that releases a lot. Like almost every sitting in the recliner. My posture is horrible if I don't have something to lean my back against like a wall or something. It did improve a lot when I briefly practiced tai chi. I want an instructor though so that I do the forms properly. I suppose I'll look into Energy Gates in the future. -

Thank you. I bought 'Relaxing into your being', and I have 'the tao of letting go' too, so I don't know if I'll buy the other one just yet. I have plenty of work to do with those books alone. I guess just being more present to how tense I am might help. I know the way I'm breathing in feels like it's making me more tense. I can' gifure out how you could take long breaths without being tense though. -
Be as ONE person...find your conflicting aspects. Focus your energy.

I realized today, while I was in conflict with my mind that there were two aspects of myself fighting over myself. One aspect of me wanted to be loving and kind. The other aspect of myself wanted to punish and hurt. I couldn't figure out why I felt like I was suffocating, when these types of things arise in me. This has been an ongoing problem where parts of me want to be nice to me, and the other parts of me want to slaughter myself any way it can. Anyway, I realized that I need to just be ONE aspect instead of two or more going to war. Well, I went with the loving way (The best I could) and I instantly tamed down the war going on in my mind. It progressively died down after that fairly quickly. It made me realize that in school(Actually from the moment we're born) we're taught all this stuff that often conflicts with our real selves. By the time we're in high school we've had so much conditioning, that oftentimes we find our real self at war with our conditioning. -

Cool. Thanks for the terms. -
This guy has such a balanced view. You can check his other vids too. Some might seem a tad racist, but I realized he actually is making a very good point, and his vids really aren't that racist. I almost unsubscribed when I really realized what he was saying was very true. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiSyS93gmjs&feature=channel_video_title

Sweet, welcome. You're very specific what you like doing. That's awesome, I can tell you like meditating. EDIT: My practice, is basically vipassana, and recently working on inner awareness and letting go.

Fantastic response

Meditation often brings things out of your subconscious. It makes you deal with things you try to cover up. At least that's what I'm parroting from B.K. Frantzis. I personally have not noticed anything like that in myself, but maybe I'm just not paying enough attention. Everyone is different.

Interesting as shit! What are the chances of fucking myself up with this method though? I have no teacher.

I was playing a chess game and I noticed a difference in these two players that I was playing. With one I asked for a takeback because of a typo and I was given a takeback(And he could've checkmated me right there for that typo). The problem with that was that after that it was like I was bound to be being nice if he screwed up which totally fucked me over in the end. I actually resigned and gave him the game at the end, and I would've won had I not made the type. Which sort of sucked in a way, but I just felt guilted into giving him the game because of the typo. Anyway, I played someone new today and I made another typo and he didn't accept the takeback(Not trying to sound whiny here...lol...just part of the insight). It wasn't a checkmate, but I lost a piece. I was upset at first until I got an insight from it. Throughout that game I didn't feel obliged in any way to serve him, and if he fucked up he was going to pay the price for sure. I also didn't have to worry about feeling bad about screwing him over if I got the chance because I know he would've done the same to me. So the question is, do you think morals (guilt) are more binding then correct? Would you rather be on a ship with a group of cutthroat pirates that you know will screw you over at first chance so you're free to do the same. Or would you rather play the morals game and hope that the person you're dealing with will be 'moral?' I would personally rather that I could screw people over without guilt of doing so knowing that they would do the same. That seems like morals in my opinion, so long as everyone is playing on the same field. It's like it's less moral to give people morals. Because then you can screw them over because they're not playing on the same field as you.

Are morals really any better then no morals?

I hold a very similar opinion that I got from a buddhist saying, "The world is already perfect as it is." -

Change of opinion, I would agree that they probably are better for society (So suffering is less) to have morals. I was thinking so small with the game and not about murder and stuff like that. Even so though, with no morals you would adapt to it. If nobody is agreeing to the binding then it's more of a curse. It's especially critical that people in high positions have certain morals or the world goes to disharmony. In fact, people in power should be tested for their character (I was going to say morals but I like character better) when getting high positions of power, instead of stupid rules like you have to be a certain age to be president. That proves nothing. More power should be given to those who don't do shit to fuck up the earth. Wealth should be based on character to encourage responsibility. Like you shouldn't be allowed to own a logging company unless you've proven you won't be a greedy motherfucker. I really didn't see the point of morals until this post, but it's self evident they make society better. Lack of morals is the reason the planet is being slaughtered. I actually see the point in some morals. I know I pulled U turn in this thread. lol. I seriously got to thinking about it though, and I learned something. And people should be allowed to do whatever they want so long as it doesn't effect anyone else(or anything) in a negative way. -
Haha, listen to this one by them I just discorver it. It's hilarious. If I ever get a cell phone I want this song as my ringtone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgMI0BObEXI&list=PL55A0D1F1FF028852
