Having been in love with reading and language since pre school age and a student and teacher of literature since then, as well as someone who has been recruited shamanically, I know that words are experience according to the degree which we let them in. (They are let in unconsciously and lots of damage + numbing done by unskilful use, of course, but here we are not speaking of that, or the shrinking of language respect and versatility equaling to the shrinking of range of humanity. Not for nothing do so many people feel quite unable to understand poetry of an exalted kind, or to read books other than journalistically, feeding only a information-eating tic, or indulging need for distraction with what EM Forster called 'low atavistic plot'..) So I think you have it., it's a fascinating unfolding. A friend was saying to me that she had a vision of the pyramids being sounded into being. Makes sense, doesnt it. I think that most human communicating doesnt need to be verbal or said out loud. Interesting if you say a lot less and make sounds, sparingly and with intent. Actually I am just reiterating what you have said! Part of the realisation of this came to me after hearing my name chanted from a car radio. It wasnt 'really' on the car radio.. and I had to tune into why this aural glimpse was being gifted to me, and it is the sound of this manifestation that here is called 'me', which was in a process of great presence at that time, and 'heard itself.' I used to study the Bible as literature, hearing the patchwork of voices and intent, and for me the most resonant phrase of the entirety was "in the beginning was the word. And the word was God." The world was spoken into existence or more accurately sounded into existence. Really exciting stuff with the runes, thankyou so much for bringing this up.

ha ha, yes. In those situations I think of the multiverse.. have you seen Jet Li's film "The One", where he travels across every timeline to kill each of himselves, to make The One him stronger... if we could swing through timelines like a monkey in a tree, avoiding the line in which we messed up. Find the timeline where you get the good breakfast without the big mistake... I guess it's a sci fi version of "Groundhog Day". Bill Murray and Jet Li together would be a nice combo.If I could change history I'd get them in a film together, and Marc Bolan to gig with Prince. How could we change anything in history, wouldnt it be the butterfly effect.. if we changed one thing and stayed on the same timeline, everything would be different and maybe not for the better. I would definitely like to change the time I went to a novice hairdresser and ended up looking like a rat chewed on my hair all night. Although it was quite amusing. Possibly.

Hello FiveElementTao, I enjoyed your writing, and the unfolding of aspects of the North and your practice with it. Poetic and evocative; I felt the north coming through as I was reading. Thankyou for sharing it. I dont know what I can add to your thread but I'd like to be here, so I will share some bits and pieces, we'll see what emerges.. Some time ago now I was with a taoist shaman and a group of friends and we were making music and dancing and there was a fire. Spontaneously I began dancing for the fire and felt seductive toward the fire and reverential and before I knew it, there was no me anymore and the most incredible force and power was there instead. The shaman saw what was happening and moved people out of the way..as the force took over there wasnt time to be frightened quite, but sure that amount of force and power isnt usually within a human frame and it wasnt something one would be likely to forget. The borderline when I was still there and being - I dont know what the word would be - obliterated?! Is an interesting margin,to say the least. I was hot for years afterward! Other times in shamanic rituals or trance I have felt filled with super levels of energy and super extra expressiveness and still conscious but without boundary... other times still I have been overflowing with spirit and yet been able to know that others are not in the same expanded consciousness and therefore I have to hold a boundary or I will 'burn' them and they will be triggered into resistance and call me drunk or crazy.. So I'm talking about some experiences and I dont know if I am talking about the void. This is partly because of the word 'void' which unavoidably sets up an image of dearth ... when in fact what I am talking about is a surplus state, by human standards, where there is more than enough, a never ending source. From the elements and the unseen. I was watching a documentary the other day called "The Oracle" which is about those within Tibetan Buddhism who get possessed by spirits of various deities, some large, some small, and are used within their communities as Oracles whilst in this state. It showed the Dalai lama with two Oracles in private consultation. It is quite something to see people being overtaken. One of the questions in the film was 'what happens to the usual consciousness whilst in trance?' and to this there was no answer.. Other times I have fallen into a space in which everything is backwards and that makes perfect sense and in that space even though I am perceiving the mirror world, there is also no sense of me being who I am. hey ho! hi EastDream. As you see, people know what you are talking about! We all experience it. We re- programme, or un - programme, ourselves, and get slowly reprogrammed by an environment which put into place the original programming. Over and over again. And each time it happens we get a little better at not getting reprogrammed, hopefully. There are tons of methods of doing this. The point is that this is the work you are doing. It isnt a straight road, but you are on it. So congrats for being on the road. Maybe you can laugh at it sometime. Maybe sometime it make you cry. Maybe it's called the road to freedom. I thought I'd add to the thread to include a word about Alexander Lowen in case anyone is interested in unravelling their body armouring and finding out more about what their posture is enclosing and how to unlock it. Alexander Lowen is the founder of Bioenergetics, a body/mind therapy. He was a student of Reich. He is interested on how our sexual response can expand when we free up habitual locks, amongst other things.. Gross oversimplification is right. Through tantric sexual practice the practitioner comes to experience energy and emptiness, in a deep sense through the physical body, subtle bodies and psyche. The deepest meanings, echoes within nature and the way of things, the energy of a 'penis' and the deepest space that a 'vagina' can open into, flower forth. The penis therefore need never be 'only' a penis and at the same time it is revered and worshipped as such, as what it physically is and what it energetically and spiritually is, and as part of the alchemy of churning awareness in to being. And the same for the yoni. The deeper symbolic meanings are within the consort practice, they unfold from the practice. Through consort practice the compassion for all beings naturally arises, also, as the heart opens, fills and overflows. So 'penis and vagina' together give you the ingredients for all the deepest meanings you could find, a direct experience of the creation energy.

I think it's a sign of how trying-to-heal our society is that so many people including men can go to therapy today without fear or stigma to hold them back, and learn how to be emotionally intelligent and articulate and get a handle on psychological issues that would define them and prevent their wholeness. I'd like basic psychological mechanisms like Projection to be taught in schools. It seems to me absurd how few people know that they are doing it. It would also be helpful if basics of psychological types were taught in schools too so that everyone could recognize Egoic Inflation, Histrionic personality types, Anti Social personality disorder etc etc. Apologies for straying OT, Michael. I think it will happen one day. Consciousness will be raised.

I dont think 5elTao has been perfunctory. Being objective is all well and good, but the fact is, either Castaneda doesnt smell right to you, or he does. I like a coyote as much as the next adaptable student, but CC to me smells all wrong, so I wont eat his food. This is not very nice to hear for those that revere him, but this is a reality. Logic only gets you so far. Some people feel their deeper intelligence says 'yes' to CC and some people say 'nope'. To me he reeks of bad attitude. Idk if this is partly something to do with my brand of femininity and his brand of attitude to women. I dont like the way he lies, the energy behind it. I dont neccesarily have an issue with lying per se. Ultimately, the Shen decides who we receive into ourselves as teacher. In this way, no right, no wrong. Either way, nice thread, interesting for lots of reasons.

I think writing complicated means using twenty words where ten would do, resorting to extended metaphor to dramatise your ideas, clouding your position with supposed back - up from random quotes and sources that could be refuted if anyone could actually be bothered, and driving forward an agenda with your words that means the reader has to work hard to get past your agenda to find if there is actually any content amongst the form. I dont think you do any of that. What it is, is when you see through a comment, from your point of view, and invite people to self examine, to perceive their own view, V., your suggestion usually is met with reactivity which takes the form of personal jibe, ie deeper reactivity,or of course, simply a rationale of why they dont have to examine their own view. We are all good at manufacturing those..
