slow breathing, I love.my breath is very slow all the time now. but holding my breath - naw. I loathe it. LOATHE it! this is just about the answer, SB. just dont attach to anything about your personality, your practise, others praise.. take it all with a huge pinch of salt, shrug it off, and you'll be fine. it's the people who are heavily invested in their own stories and other people's impressions of them that get bogged down.

Before - long before - I ever heard of meditation it used to kill me that I was stuck in my head, as 'me'. so painful. so tedious, to have to see everything thru the filter of a personality. eeeeeeeek. the narrowness of just being a personality. it made me feel claustrophobic and ineffably bored at the prospect of a lifetime's alliance with this one voice. funny, eh. Now I dont feel stuck at all. My personality seems much less present. I dont notice it so much. Thankfully.

findley, that's one reason why we dont attach to anything that comes up... it doesnt matter if it's 'real' or not.. it's all scenery.. when you find that as you arrive at a bus stop, your bus always appears, as you arrive at a cafe, a table always clears, and you feel serenely confident even though you are running late, that circumstances arrange themselves that you get there on time, animals come to you, and ... well you get the picture..you can guess you are somewhat in accord with the tao.. otherwise.... it's all potential smoke and mirrors from the psyche. and it doesnt matter.

It is. I like doing this too, especially in nature. I think, though, you need to have nice clear channels and no noticeable blockages to be doing this.
