  1. You're right Uncle Richard ... ( )....( ) I cant see your signature, I'll check out your group now though, thankyou for that. I am just reading An idiots guide to the I Ching because I need to befriend what it is. The time is right for me to stop singin old David Bowie songs without full taoist recognition.
  2. Cant see the link, Uncle?
  3. Have you thought about buying a copy, or getting one from your library?
  4. what is the value of philosophical debate

Yes. Nice post, made me do a wide smile, thankyou.
  5. what is the value of philosophical debate

hold on a minute. you've got your genuine philosphical debate, and then you've got your mind wank. two different things. one enlightens you, the other is the writer/talker lovin' themselves a lot and hoping others will like the show. the latter is an internet message board version of wanking at your bedroom window/in your car/ on a railway bridge/anywhere you can get an audience. It isnt even neccesarily what you say, so much as how you say it.
  6. No, Sheng, I didnt do K&L with him. I did ask him what he thought about Mantak Chia and KC was very tactful in response. I learned a form of Primordial qigong from him , which is an amazing form which only he teaches. I was lucky enough to learn this when he came to London via the British Taoist Association. He was very generous in talking to us and eating meals with us, and has given interviews for the Journal. He has such a soft energy. He was, I felt, the closest to an androgynous creature I'd ever meet. His book was the first one I ever read about Qigong, and it was through his practices that I first began to open the orbit. His newer book is about his work with Native American Indians, with whom he also has a longtime association. He is a real medicine man, taoism and native american practices have been his entire life's work. Forgive me, I'm sure you know all this! I'm just an enthusiast. His book on Qigong is one of my most well thumbed works. And also his tape on breathing is super effective. I was in deep relaxation for days after doing it just once. I worked with his video on Qigong for many months, it teaches many excercises and he is great to practice along with.
  7. Yes. Have you read KC's books? Met him? Worked with his video's? I have, and really, he isnt delusional . He is highly educated and pretty much a Sage.
  8. Hi Sheng Zen. My hunch is, that is KC quoted out of context, because he is a truthful and trustworthy teacher, person, taoist.
  9. I have read YJM and have decided that although he covers the material I am interested in, Ken Cohen is more trustworthy. I have heard that YJM doesnt have the grasp of the material to give as accurate account of it as KC. Like Joe, I have assimilated it into my practices, use these methods every day. It is basic and fundamental and all good taoist practitioners should have learned it and assimilated it.
  10. I just saw it! I went to see it on a huge screen. It was fantastic! I was quite overwhelmed when it turned out to be the old Spock in the snow cave, there to save the young Kirk... really, I was. I didnt know Leonard Nimoy was acting in the film, so it was a revelation to see him, and I love him. And the fact that he was a wise old man in a cave at that point was even better. The fire of youth, the wisdom of age. Or the wisdom of time travel, I guess... As for Uhura having no curves as a young woman - pah, I dont believe that for a second. It was nice to see Spock kissing, but that was a Quinto Spock. The Nimoy Spock wouldnt do such a thing.

  13. How exactly Does One FEEL Chi?

I took the opening question to be something along the lines of "how could the unitiated feel chi?"
  14. How exactly Does One FEEL Chi?

Oooh. Nice one. My example was too easy, wasnt it.
  15. retention makes you gay

Should I find some nice pictures, to try to make it clearer?
  16. retention makes you gay

findley, hi. It depends. Sometimes women fantasise about lesbian sex because they are in need of nurturing and communion from/with their inner feminine. Sexual fantasies dont have to be taken literally, just sayin'...
  17. Relationships and Practice?

Hello awake. I sympathise with you in wanting to avoid emotional pain. It is a horrible thing. It isnt disastrous though, or even dangerous. Many say it leads to an educated heart and is part of the alchemy of a wise soul. One thing I do know is that our higher self wants us to experience life fully. So the more you avoid, the higher price you pay. Shut the door on something, and it will haunt your dreams and come in through the window. Being too controlling is a sure fire way to trip yourself up and end up flat on your face. So my sense is that your practices are harmonising your energy: girls are liking you, drawn to you, and things are starting. So it isnt running perfectly from that point to Happily Ever After. Dang! Life doesnt often work that way! Maybe you might like to read The Hero's Journey by Joseph Campbell. It illustrates how we get to become a real, full person, via various trials and tribulations that are archetypal. Love pain, Love disapointment, Love Won and Lost are some of the trials. IMHO removing attachment isnt possible when you are an untried 17year old. IMHO it would be a diversionary tactic to even attempt it. Leting go of attachment to outcomes comes as part of the energy practises you are doing. It is a gradual proccess. Maybe reading or listening to Byron Katie (she's on youtube) will be interesting/helpful to you on the topic of dropping scripts that we unconsciously hold, and tuning in to the inherent perfection in our situation, whatever it is. Good Luck awake. xxx
  18. Ding Dong

Hello Dot. Cute shoes! Welcome, I hope you enjoy thisplace.
  19. Hey Tigre Blanc! I'm glad you liked the poster, ha! I try to treat others as I would like to be treated, basically. If I was being literal minded, or unwilling to extrapolate, or taking myself too seriously, I'd poke meself in the ribs. hey ho. There are many ways to cook eggs.
  20. How exactly Does One FEEL Chi?

I have heard this too. As you get deeper into practices you will find different sensations relate to different types of chi.. this may be different side effects, of course. Either way, it is interesting and fun. If you hold your palms opposite one another and circle them , as if you were making a ball out of the air between your hands.... you should after a while, feel chi. Try it and see. It works for most people. Once you have made a 'ball of chi' between your hands you can stretch it, and see how dense you can make it, by circling more. Experiment. Have fun.
  21. I ripped this poster off my front door when I got home tonight, White Tiger. It's as well to know what you're dealing with, so I'm fessing up.
  22. August Leo

  23. heh heh. One of the habits of highly effective students is to stop expecting to be spoon fed.
  24. It isnt a thesis. It's an observed phenomenon.
