I kefir and make kombucha too. Any good recipes, a bit out of the ordinary? I like kefir made from almond milk, and kombucha made with sencha, chamomile and lemongrass.

No offence at all taken. I REALLY did mean exactly what I said, and it was actually specific to this board, too.. hi. the thing is, I think we're a bit ahead of your game here. we know what you say already. we're familiar with zen. we're talking more about our direct experiences rather than playing mind games. you dont experience that 'there is no reality' - you just like the concept. It's an interesting question that starts the thread. I'll think about it when I've forgotten this distraction.

For me it's a natural and spontaneous impulse to thank the spirits. When I quiet my chatter,in the ensuing space my first feelngs are humility and gratitude and wonder. So the natural thing is to give thanks. To whoever. "God" when I was a child (in an agnostic family ) and to the 4 Directions nowadays. Interesting isnt, what that impulse actually is. Is it the heart shen emerging? or something more complex?

One of the good things about Transmission, is that it can come from a Tree just as much as from a Human Teacher, if one is receptive. Being receptive is a key issue with regard to being taught/learning. Of course the most widely spoken saying is 'when the student is ready, the teacher appears" - and this refers to the student being in a state of receptivity, ad therefore able to receive learning, from whatever source. So perhaps the first question - before the one about teachers - is one about receptivity. How it comes about that a person reaches that condition of receptivity, which is, after all, far harder to reach than a physical Teacher. At least in these days when there are many willing to teach, quite certain of what they know and keen to spread their word.
