What is tripping you up is the idea of there being something that you can lose. I know it is difficult and frustrating to be told this, when one thinks one is seeking to find something. There needs to be a different process image other than find and subsequently lose.

Oh. I really learned a lot from the tao of dying thread. gentlewind posted some amazing videos of interveiws that explain a lot about what happens when people die and then return to tell the tale. If you watch the interview with cardiologist Pimm van Lommell (did I get his name right?) he explains how it is that people continue experiencing consciousness even though their brain is clinically dead. The brain is an interface that allows the physical body to experience consciousness, like your computer is an interface that allows you to surf the net.

Maybe you have ringworm on your neck.

you are right, people do cling to logic and reason because they are afraid of their imaginations. Fear of imagination is a mote in the eye, for sure.

Where did you get that self from? Whats it made of?

even if you cant see something, doesnt mean it isnt there.. it just means you cant see it.

Fair enough indeed. My relationship to the Big Dipper through taoist meditation, was more or less the first thing that arrived to me on acquaintance with taoism, was the shamanic reality of it arrived before I even knew what taoism was. We each have our own path, for me I am not interested in belief or opinions. Experiences are a different matter.

I think the taoists here believe you, gentlewind. You are in good company. Marblehead loves hanging around here banging his marble head against stuff, it gives him the kind of headache he likes, I think.
