Pros and Cons of sharing spiritual experiences
Taiji Bum replied to Yoda's topic in General Discussion
I say tell everything and maybe we can figure out whats going on. Its not like there are people around who have all the answers. There are groups who claim to have all the answers however. In my opinion secrecy is a control mechanism. -
Appearently all the monastic Taoists/Buddhists/Christians/Yogis living alone in the mountains and attaining enlighenment without a physical spouse were lying?

I dont really know whats going on with me these days. Lately I am just looking for inspiration and excuses not to stop my spiritual practice to go and get married and have some kids. Not doing much Qi Gong these days. Lots of meditation and fasting though. I am beginning to build myself back into 6 hours a day of meditation. I guess my desire for ascension is greater than my desire for a normal life still. Thanks for asking Harry. I am detecting a lack of really good Taoist fiction. I think one of the bums should start writing something. I was thinking of doing some movie shorts with a Taoist/Tai Chi angle. Sort of a Jedi/Celestine Prophecy/Matrix thing. But its still in the thinking about it when I should be working stage.

I had the bumble bee sound a few times when I was meditating. I even swatted at in once and then laughed when I realized what I just did. This was around the same time I was having a bunch of perception problems during meditation like feeling huge or squished, feeling like I was floating or bent over. I had a bunch of strange things happen. The strangeness lasted for only a few months and I just chalked it up to cleansing the mind.

I dont have a tv but I go to my sisters to watch Stargate. Its more of a family thing than the show anymore. I usually end up being mauled by kids that actually watching anything.

Are there any books or web sites
Taiji Bum replied to innerspace_cadet's topic in General Discussion
The "Cloud of Unkowing" is the best book I have found on it. Its Christian but if you were to change the rare Father, Son and Holy spirit talk with the Three Pure Ones you would swear you were reading an ancient taoist book. It states that you cannot "know" God by intellectual striving but God can be known experientially. It instructs one to put a cloud of forgetting below you and between you and the things of this world and a cloud of unknowing above you and between you and God (Tao) in meditation. It's short and simple but one of the most profound mystical books ever produced in the west in my opinion. -
I work in an old morgue. Lots of yin energy here underground with the dead. I should try some standing practice along with my moving tai chi.

I work in a big room at a computer all alone. You guys have inspired me to take tai chi breaks. I dont know why I didn't think of it before. When I was first learning tai chi I would practice on my breaks and lunch in the isles in the wharehouse I worked in. All the guys would make fun of me but after a while they kind of respected me for doing what I wanted and not caring what others thought. Now I have the perfect environment to practice at work. I better get practicing.

I thought THE SECRET was inspiring. One guy uses it to walk after a crippling injury and another makes a million dollars but if you are unaware of the process you might bring misfortune after misfortune into your life. I think the underlying message is to just live consciously and to understand we create our lives if we take full responsibility for them.

I just read it for the first time last night. (Mind you I have owned it for ten years.) Rather than start a thread I did a search to see if it was posted before and so I am resurrecting a thread. In my opinion it was great. It was a classic "Hero's Journey" and it is the only story in my memory that ends with ascension, aside for several bible stories. It seemed to be purely psychological in its approach to the insights which was good but thankfully kept it really simple. I know a lot of complaints say it was too simple but thats what I liked about it. Advanced concepts stated simply. Its funny but I sent my mom a copy and she told me when she got it she was actually just starting to read a friends copy. I bought my copy at the same time but never read it. I rented The Celestine Prophecy movie last night and was intrigued enough to finally read it. This book actually answers some of the questions that I have had lately or maybe confirms my intuitions on them. He was tapped into something pretty special when he was writing it in my opinion. This is the most "Taoist" book I have read that was written here in America. Active/non-action all the way...

Oops, I didn't know there was going to be a problem posting this. I figured if SeanD posted a link I would save everyone the trouble of signing up to a new site and just post the response. Sorry, wont happen again.

How simple or complex does IT need to be?
Taiji Bum replied to thelerner's topic in General Discussion
Simpler is better in my book because I am just not that smart. -
Yeah, go for it.
